WTF was that.

How wealth is distributed in this country has nothing to do with working hard & all that crap.

The wealthy are getting to own more & more of this country.

Do you really think this is because this group worked harder?

Do you think that this group gained so much & the middle class did not was because they worked harder?

Why

Critics will claim that no gains could be worth the price we paid [in Iraq]-- over 4,400 lost lives and untold hundreds of billions of dollars. But we paid a far higher price in the Korean War (36,000 dead). Few would have thought in 1953 that this war, which ended with a deadlocked and ravaged peninsula, was a raging success. The outcome looks considerably better nearly six decades later, now that South Korea has become one of the most prosperous and freest countries in the world.

Boston Globe
March 10, 2013

In February and March 2003, Newsweek’s polls showed 70 percent of the public in favor of military action against Iraq; Gallup and Pew Research Center surveys showed the same thing. Congress had authorized the invasion a few months earlier with strong bipartisan majorities; among the many Democrats voting for the war were Senators John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden.

Though the Iraq war later became a favorite Democratic club for bashing George W. Bush, Republicans and Democrats alike had long understood that Hussein was a deadly menace who had to be forcibly eradicated. In 1998 President Bill Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act, making Hussein’s removal from power a matter of US policy.

Bipartisan harmony was an early casualty of the [Iraq] war. It didn’t matter that virtually everyone — Republicans and Democrats, UN inspectors and CIA analysts, coalition allies, even Hussein’s own military officers — had been sure the WMD would be found. Nor did it matter that Hussein had previously used WMD to exterminate thousands of men, women, and children. The temptation to spin an intelligence failure as a deliberate “lie” was politically irresistible.

Are you really that simple? What a good little socialist stooge you are. That's right there is no pie.the chance to make something of themselves in this country. There are many examples. I can think of at least 5 families right now that came to this country with nothing. Nothing but the cloths on their backs. They now all own businesses, own their own homes, and their children are/were going to college. This pie nonsense is just another liberal make excuse for the lazy. You get out of life what you put in it. If anybody on here thinks that working 40 hours a week and then going home is the way to better yourself then you're a damn fool.

"I do believe and hope that over time some of the angry edge about the debate will recede. Obviously, Americans are angry about this. Those who lost loved ones have a right to be angry. The whole country has felt like this was a far more consequential decision than we were told at the time and that the preparations for this effort were minimal, compared to what should have been done.

"But you can also take a broader perspective, and say that what we were doing was going after one of the most brutal dictators of the late 20th century. And even though this is not necessarily a defense of the Bush administration's decision and not necessarily a defense that it was worth the cost, nonetheless it was not as badly intentioned as some people have wanted to argue."

CBS News correspondent, Cami McCormick, covered the Iraq war from the front lines, and is now based in Washington D.C.

...I'll take the "broader perspective" but, then again, I always do.

Since the Iraq War is what divided us after 9/11, thought a few perspectives on if it was worth it from respectable sources was important.

I know cut and paste post are unpopular but hope everyone read them.

The Boston Globe and CBS News aren't generally considered biased media sources.

Iraq was a massive failure of a war based on a lie, even George W Bush admits that there were no WMD's while your right wing self believes Saddam sent them to Syria.

Just one more...

New Hampshire Union Leader
April 12, 2013

Hussein's regime murdered as many as 1 million Iraqis in its years in absolute power. Many Americans forget this. Most Iraqis don't.

A graduate of Saddam's torture chambers, Barham Salih, was asked what he thought of the invasion 10 years later.

Salih is now the chairman of the board of the American University of Iraq in Sulaimani. Salih has served as both the deputy prime minister of Iraq and as prime minister of the Kurdish regional government.

"...War is never a good option, but given our history and the brutality of Saddam's regime, it may have been the only other option to end the genocidal campaign waged by Saddam against the Kurds and other communities in Iraq."

He went on to blame Iraqis, rather than Americans, for the failures of the past decade. "...There is no denying that Iraqi political leadership bears prime responsibility for squandering a unique opportunity to deliver to their people. This has been nothing short of a drastic failure of leadership on our part. The Kurdistan region offers hope that all is not lost in Iraq."

http://www.newhampshire.com/article/20130412/...

Sometimes it's easier to see things from a different angle when bias is involved.

The left blaming George Bush when Democrats like John Kerry, Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton among many others wanted to get rid of Saddam even before 9/11 and voted for the Iraq War proves they have been angry at the wrong people for the wrong reasons all these years.

If the Iraq War and biased misconceptions is what divided us, maybe it's time to take a different look at it and begin to heal.

Can you honestly argue South Korea wasn't worth it today?
