Well, there's that thorny (pardon the easter pun) genocide issue again, isn't it. "America's "real" God was called various things by "the Founders," Great Spirit, Buffalo Woman, various foody names, and she wasn't Jewish either. The blind spot christians wrestle with, and they tried hard to deal with it during the Imperial phase by simply marking time itself in the West from the supposed creation of their silly myth, is that they were literally millions of people in all the places they "founded" thousands of years before they arrived and slaughtered them. It seems to me you're on pretty shaky ground when you bring up the supposed theological underpinnings of a few dozen white guys who helped steal the land and the truth from the actual owners.

You remember the beads for Manhattan story, right? It's in alllll the "history" books. It's there as an example of what a good deal looks like, like my new rocking chair, for instance. It's the forula for "success" in a christian nation so it's taught to 1st graders. That's all christianity is, a good deal. I agree mostly with your assertion, but I believe this democracy works until a situation like a black president arises. When one set or group of people read & are taught historically that things are made to go their way, well we see the outcome! This has nothing to do with race & more to do with politics & elitism & the need for a scapegoat. The change in Americas demographics had brought out the ugliness in alot of people once hidden by entitlement. These people hate the president because he is a symbol, reminder, & representation of that change. But his job is no different than any other president of the past. Now why do you think they hate Barack Obama's guts, but defend George Bush's hide so vigorously? This country made strides in the direction of good for decades in the name of democracy. It only turned into a republic when the symbol of change in the form of a black president was elected! What they don't realize is thus change was already happening before he was elected, that's why he was elected!

As sheriffs across the nation signal opposition to enforcing additional federal gun regulations, the Utah Sheriffs' Association sent a letter to President Obama assuring him that its members similarly will not comply.

The letters insists that the rights of Utah citizens trump any new gun control measure that Congress might pass, and sheriffs in Utah are prepared to trade their lives in defense of their constituents' right to keep and bear arms.

The letter, signed by 28 of Utah's 29 sheriffs, sternly rejects the citation of recent tragedies as Congress's rationale for expanded gun regulations:

With the number of mass shootings America has endured, it is easy to demonize firearms; it is also foolish and prejudiced. Firearms are nothing more than instruments, valuable and potentially dangerous, but instruments nonetheless. Malevolent souls, like the criminals who commit mass murders, will always exploit valuable instruments in the pursuit of evil.
