Secrets of the right-wing conspiracy playbook

The debate over immigration and the border is a classic example of how the extreme right manipulates real issues

The extremist right in America has always fed on real grievances that go either unaddressed or are mishandled by the mainstream system—by government, and in particular the federal government. In the 1980s and ’90s, they channeled discontent with badly malfunctioning federal farming and land-use policies in rural America into uprisings like the Posse Comitatus and Patriot/militia movements and their various offshoots, such as the Montana Freemen. This led to armed standoffs with federal agents and varying waves of domestic terrorism, all of it emanating from the American heartland.

What these extremists always tell their audiences is that there are simple reasons for their current miseries—inevitably, it is a combination of a secret cabal of elite conspirators running society like a puppet show at the top, crushing the middle-class working man from above, while a parasitic underclass saps his strength from below. This usually plays out, in the worldview of right-wing extremists, as being part of a secret conspiracy to enslave ordinary working people and destroy America.

What gives them special traction, however, is their knack for finding unaddressed grievances and exploiting them as examples of this conspiracy, thus manipulating working-class people who have legitimate problems. Their agenda comes wrapped in an appeal telling people that they not only feel their pain but have the answers to end it. And their strategy works, time and again.

What makes me laugh immediately everytime I come on this thread is, all the whining from so called well off people who look & laugh in the face of poverty ! Point fingers & shift blame from themselves to others like claiming & sometimes unconsciously claiming Americas problems are black or white, when they're both black & white! For those that don't know & to whom it may concern: this is not an American problem, it's a human or inhumane problem! The attitude of some of you posters are appalling! Ignorant to the fact that the bums in America live better than those in truly impoverished countries! Not only that, but it's been part of the elites plans to play the rich against the poor, white against the black, smart against the dumb, & through centuries of enduring said plan we apply it unconscious & effortless! Not understanding that has us stuck in a time warp. What puzzles me is how we can look at the statistics of the top 1% vs the 99% & continue to point fingers at eachother. I went to an Amish market today & reality dawned on me. Such a beautiful thing to see! Amish kids working along side their parents without question. Not moping around as if they had something better to do, but working in attempt to lighten the load on their parents & at the same time prepping themselves for when it's their time to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders! This country has put so much burden on ourselves that our children feel compelled to commit crimes or drop out of school to help support their house holds. Greed won't allow this country to truly prosper. Maybe if I simplify things you Al might understand. Would you rather be rich & everytime you go out with your friends you pay for everything or everybody have their own money & pay their own way. It seems alot of you would rather be rich & only taking care of your own not worried about anyone else. As a man I have that God spirit inside of me that says," put me anywhere, I will survive," but there are children that are suffering from adults ignorance! There's a war going on, but instead of guns knowledge is weapon & were allowing them to play us against each other when in reality we're all on the same team. Time to close our eyes & open our minds people!

Only creative book keeping and statist liberals would call a tax break a debit. Of course, if one assumes all money belongs to the government, before and after taxation, then one could theoretically conclude anything less than a complete confiscation of currency on April 15, would be a loss of potential income. It also assumes any money left in circulation after April 15, is due to the goodness and beneficence of the government. Two kinds of people see things this way; politicians who dream of complete control and the dregs who live off them.
Only a Mighty Dumb Builder thinks that lowering incoming revenue doesn't add to the deficit.

A tax break is a reduction in the current tax revenue.

"John Galt" you are incorrect.
- I could care less what consenting adults do in the privacy of their bedrooms, that being said I am anti gay marriage
- I am a firm supporter of laws restricting speeding drivers, but I detest red light cameras
- I detest a government that would force me to buy a product I may not want, health insurance
- My feelings towards folks is not colored by their race or their religious beliefs or lack of such beliefs
- Deficit spending is a bane, it has to be stopped
- Additional taxation is not the answer to the deficits, less spending is the answer
- I respect the police, are they all good, hell no, but the vast majority just do their jobs
- I support law that says business owners have the right to refuse service
- I dread the day a panel will be able to determine who does or does not get medical care/treatment
- I would love to see term limits on those who serve in congress
- I would love to see a balanced budget amendment
- I am anti abortion/murder but can understand in the cases of rape, incest or if the mothers health is in danger
Unlike you I am not a troll and parrot an ideology. The world is not black and white, there is no one answer, no one single solution.

Zimmerman was not speaking to a 911 operator but a non emergency operator at the Sanford Police Department who may or may not have been a sworn LEO.

Zimmerman had a years long history of calling law enforcement over matters large and small and had the nen # locked into his cell phone.

try to pay attention....
Senate Republicans Willfully and Knowingly Lie to Their Constituents
Last night, having noted the list of Republicans in the Senate who voted to fund Obamacare in yesterday’s Morning Briefing, I went through a series of emails from readers.
Readers from Texas, Kentucky, Utah, South Dakota, and Georgia all had the same story. They’d called the offices of Senators Chambliss, Cornyn, Hatch, Thune, McConnell, and Isakson to object to those senators funding Obamacare. They were all told by these Senate offices that these Senators had voted to defund Obamacare or, in the case of Senator Cornyn’s office, that there had been no vote on defunding Obamacare.
These Senators and their staffs are lying. They voted to fund Obamacare. More troubling, they know they did it.
Yesterday, on the floor of the Senate, Mitch McConnell again said,“Obamacare is a colossal mistake for our country.... We need to start all over. This bill needs to be repealed and it needs to be replaced.... And anyone who thinks we’ve given up this fight is dead wrong.”
It’s similar to what he said at CPAC. I am sure he will keep on saying it.
But, Senator McConnell and a sizable portion of the Republican Conference voted to fund Obamacare and now they are lying about doing so.
Here’s how they are doing it.
The continuing resolution they voted for funds Obamacare.
Senator Ted Cruz offered an amendment to defund Obamacare. All of the Republicans in the Senate voted for that amendment, but that amendment failed.
So that gets us back to the continuing resolution, which funds Obamacare. Senator McConnell voted for it. By voting for the continuing resolution he was voting to fund Obamacare. Same with these others. In fact, a majority of the Republican Senate Conference voted against the continuing resolution in part because it funds Obamacare. But the following Senators voted to pass the continuing resolution even though it still funds Obamacare....
....If any one of those senators tells you they did not vote to fund Obamacare or, in fact, voted against funding Obamacare, they are being mendacious. They may have voted for Ted Cruz’s amendment, but after it failed, they still knowingly and willingly voted to fund Obamacare. And now they are lying to their constituents who call them out on it.
Many of these same Senators are also supporting separate legislation to foist a massive tax increase on the American people.
