TheIndependentMajority wrote: <quoted text> Kind of like this- Major Harold Kushner said, "I think the purposes of Fonda and Clark were to hurt the United States, to radicalize our young people, and to undermine our authority." First, the origins of the Vietnam anti-war movement stem from returning Vietnam veterans who spo at college campuses about the crimes of fellow soliders they witnessed. This is where people like Jane Fonda got their information. With the publishing of the "The Pentagon Papers", the American public discovered the Gulf of Tonkin Incident was in response to covert provocations initiated by our side under the 34A Plans. In his book, "The Secret Team", Colonel Fletcher Prouty, an Air Force liason to the CIA, mentions that the 34A plans made use of unmarked U.S. ships and aircraft. So in the final analysis, the Vietnam War was launched by rightwing fanatics in the CIA and Pentagon as part of their no-holds barred philosophy against communism. Once U.S. regular forces began pouring in, the dirtiest methods imaginable were used. Agent orange was sprayed everywhere, contaminating the water supply. Napalm and artillery strikes were called in with brutal indiscrimination, hitting friend and foe alike. U.S. and CIA personnel made regular use of torture and throwing prisoners from helicopters. The reason for such terror tactics is that the Vietnamese people were against us. Terror was the means by which we tried to cut off their support for the North. So as much as you rightwingers grind your teeth and howl at the likes of Jane Fonda and Tom Hayden, they were right. And thousands of returning U.S. veterans would agree. Vietnam was a dirty little murder mission designed to prop up a rightwing tyranny, falsely label it a democracy to the American public, and then further conceal the horrors used to prop it up. All under the "noble banner" of anti-communism.

From: The "Apology" of Jane Fonda After Jane Fonda called Yorktown sailors and other US Navy sailors "war criminals" By Bruce Herschensohn This article appeared in the July 7, 2000 edition of The Washington Times. Americans are in a hurry to be done with the past and go on to tomorrow. It's why we read the Sunday newspapers on Saturday. It would be all right if we weren't in a hurry to forget the past, but we do forget the past..... http://www.aspecialdayguide.com/yorktown/apol... I read the linked article. Fonda was totally right. The Wingnuts hate her because she challenged their legitimacy. A false legitimacy which was finally laid to rest by "The Pentagon Papers". Anyone who thinks U.S. involvement in Indochina was anything close to honorable doesn't know the facts. It was a CIA set-up and 58,000 young men paid the price.

LOL, I see the little GOP judge-it elfs are in action. Boys, I could care less about the mute, emasculated quality of a judge-it. Come out into the open and challenge what I say with facts, not cute little smiley faces. That is... if you can.

You're the idiot. The Gulf of Tonkin was set up by the CIA. This is proven by Fletcher Prouty's book, "The Secret Team" and "The Pentagon Papers". The CIA consists of ultra-right wingers. So in the final analysis, the right started the Vietnam War. What are you, stupid? When I mention "The Secret Team" and "The Pentagon Papers", these are UMIMPEACHABLE SOURCES. In fact, the CIA tried to keep "The Secret Team" from ever being published. Nixon had his attorney general file an injunction against the NY Times to quash further disssemination, and the case went all they way to the Supreme Court. In both instances, the rightwing screamed that national security was at stake. We now know the only thing at stake was concealment of their guilt.

Charles Krauthammer once again makes sense. Reminding us the Democrats haven't proposed a budget since the iPad (notwithstanding Obama's two proposals which were summarily rejected by all Democrats in the Senate) and saying it would be nice if the Senate would come up with one just as Ryan and the Republicans have done so they can share some of the scrutiny which they are happy to let the Republicans take while they do absolutely nothing. That is precisely why Senate Democrats won't come up with a budget. It might come under scrutiny and it's better to do nothing and blame republicans who are trying to do something than risk losing votes. In other words, they are cowards.

I'm not going anywhere. If you don't think Democrats have the same loyalities to corporations, you're more brainwashed than I imagined. The Republicans' loyalty, by the way, is to a free market. Minimal government oversight to protect consumers is all that's needed.
