Barack Obama, our next President

Drones and strange bedfellows: Why neocons are showing Obama some love

And why liberals are starting to turn a cold shoulder. As John Brennan heads into his confirmation hearing, it's apparently opposite day in Washington

But there's a reason Congress hasn't made much of a stink about the issue over the past four years. "Put simply: Americans love drones." A series of polls shows that Americans' support for drone strikes "is not only wide but also bipartisan," and if conservatives are more forgiving of Obama now, perhaps it's because more Republicans than Democrats approve of the strikes.

Loyalty is to corporations and not the country? That opinionated statement is a common thought coming from left minded individuals who think it best the state controls everything. Do you really think the government cares about you? They are the biggest corporation around. A huge unregulated monopoly that has the power to kill, take and imprison. Those that think corporate power is bad and the state is good don't have a clue.

Spoken like a true right whiner.

Tell me, how did the tearing down of the walls between banks & financial investment houses work out for America? Thank you Republicans Gramm, Bailey & Leach.

How does Republicans fighting for loopholes that help send jobs overseas working out for America.

Right whiners think we can trust corporations to do what is best for America. This is how fricken stupid you are. How many near financial collapses, how many Enrons, how many Bernie Madoffs do you need?

You evidently think Corporate America gives a rat's ass about you? My God, they only care about how much short term profit they can make regardless of people or this country.

A pretty face on your government is nothing if they have an ugly heart. The inner city ghettos and projects of modern America and Detroit's urban preserves are the breeding ground big & more government 'Blue Magnets' of hate-filled socialism, racism, ignorance, poverty, abortion, and America's liberal killing fields of blacks.

First, the origins of the Vietnam anti-war movement stem from returning Vietnam veterans who spo at college campuses about the crimes of fellow soliders they witnessed.
This is where people like Jane Fonda got their information.
With the publishing of the "The Pentagon Papers", the American public discovered the Gulf of Tonkin Incident was in response to covert provocations initiated by our side under the 34A Plans.
In his book, "The Secret Team", Colonel Fletcher Prouty, an Air Force liason to the CIA, mentions that the 34A plans made use of unmarked U.S. ships and aircraft.
So in the final analysis, the Vietnam War was launched by rightwing fanatics in the CIA and Pentagon as part of their no-holds barred philosophy against communism.
Once U.S. regular forces began pouring in, the dirtiest methods imaginable were used. Agent orange was sprayed everywhere, contaminating the water supply. Napalm and artillery strikes were called in with brutal indiscrimination, hitting friend and foe alike. U.S. and CIA personnel made regular use of torture and throwing prisoners from helicopters.
The reason for such terror tactics is that the Vietnamese people were against us. Terror was the means by which we tried to cut off their support for the North.
So as much as you rightwingers grind your teeth and howl at the likes of Jane Fonda and Tom Hayden, they were right. And thousands of returning U.S. veterans would agree.
Vietnam was a dirty little murder mission designed to prop up a rightwing tyranny, falsely label it a democracy to the American public, and then further conceal the horrors used to prop it up.
All under the "noble banner" of anti-communism.
From what I've read for myself on the Gulf of Tonkin-it was another clear case, of botched up instructions based on botched up MISinformation.

As in the MISinformed of stupid parrot squawk and repeat sayz, what the MISinformed of stupid parrot squawk and repeat doez.

One more time you dance and dodge. I mentioned nothing about Al Awlaki. I have commented favorably about his demise as he was on foreign soil and fighting against American interests. if an asshole like him was doing the same I would prefer he was captured and tried but if died resisting arrest that would not be a problem. But with nobama as president and the chief strategist planning the operation down to the smallest detail I have no doubt that he would have been captured.

Fonda was totally right.
The Wingnuts hate her because she challenged their legitimacy. A false legitimacy which was finally laid to rest by "The Pentagon Papers".
Anyone who thinks U.S. involvement in Indochina was anything close to honorable doesn't know the facts.
It was a CIA set-up and 58,000 young men paid the price.
Undone by the Vietnam War

Despite Johnson's success in promoting his domestic reform policies, however, his presidency was equally defined by the failure of his policies toward Vietnam. Like the three presidents before him, Johnson was determined to prevent North Vietnamese Communists from taking over the U.S.-supported government of South Vietnam. He believed that America's national security depended on containing the spread of communism around the world.

As part of this effort, Johnson steadily escalated U.S. military involvement in the Vietnam War. The number of American troops in Vietnam soared from 16,000 when he first took office in 1963 to more than 500,000 in 1968, yet the conflict remained a bloody stalemate. As the war dragged on and American and Vietnamese casualties mounted, anti-war protests rocked college campuses and cities across the U.S.

Johnson's popularity within his own party plummeted as well. When it appeared that he might face a stiff challenge for the 1968 Democratic presidential nomination, Johnson announced his decision not to run for re-election. "I shall not seek, nor will I accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your president," he said in a nationally televised speech on March 31, 1968. Johnson explained that he wanted to focus on the peace process and pressing domestic issues without the distraction of a political campaign. The conflict in Vietnam, though, brought him nothing but pain and frustration during his last months in office, and U.S. military involvement in Vietnam continued for four years after his departure from Washington in January 1969.

History should always REMIND.

Bring the troops Home-NOT relocate them to "Libya" or anywhere else.
