Oh yes! We are set on two paths. The technological path will change our lives to the very core of our existence. The way we live now will have very little resemblance to how we live now. Example: 3D Printer. We will print almost everything. Remember the replicator from Star Trek? That was a 3D Printer that printed food. Except for fresh food there will be no need for grocery stores.<quoted text>So it will be different than five years hence? Ten years hence?
Step away from the bongo Flacko.
The social path may look very much like 1984. Thought police. Nowhere to be alone. Big Brother watching even in your home. Technology has a double edge. It can set us free but at the same time force us into the collective.
Tricorders ( can't really call them cell phones anymore) are going to change the way we think and behave. That is already noticeable. The collective thoughts of a billion people working on a single problem will have a dramatic influence on our culture.
The world really is about to change forever faster and faster. It is up to us to decide how it changes. This is a point in time which comes about very rarely. Make sure all of you make the right choice.
