The extremely left-wing Los Angeles Times explains in 1999 that the CRA was passed to force banks to make risky loans.

Under Clinton, bank regulators have breathed the first real life into enforcement of the Community Reinvestment Act, a 20-year-old statute meant to combat “redlining” by requiring banks to serve their low-income communities. The administration also has sent a clear message by stiffening enforcement of the fair housing and fair lending laws.

In 1992, Congress mandated that Fannie and Freddie increase their purchases of mortgages for low-income and medium-income borrowers. Operating under that requirement, Fannie Mae, in particular, has been aggressive and creative in stimulating minority gains… Fannie Mae has agreed to buy more loans with very low down payments–or with mortgage payments that represent an unusually high percentage of a buyer’s income. That’s made banks willing to lend to lower-income families they once might have rejected.

The extremely left-wing New York Times noted in 1999 that the GSEs gave out the risky loans under duress from Democrat Bill Clinton.

Fannie Mae, the nation’s biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits.

In addition, banks, thrift institutions and mortgage companies have been pressing Fannie Mae to help them make more loans to so-called subprime borrowers. These borrowers whose incomes, credit ratings and savings are not good enough to qualify for conventional loans, can only get loans from finance companies that charge much higher interest rates — anywhere from three to four percentage points higher than conventional loans.

According to the New York Times in 2003, George W. Bush tried to stop the Democrats from ruining the economy with these forced loans. He was blocked by Democrats like Barney Frank.

The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago.

”These two entities — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — are not facing any kind of financial crisis,” said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee.”The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.”

The worst the Republicans can do for the next four years is get in the way.
No new unprovoked wars.
No new deregulation.
No new tax breaks for the wealthy.
No new abortion laws.
No new laws lifting the ban on hand grenades so they will feel safer.
How wonderful!

In the mean time, the Democrats can

- whittle away at our freedoms
- increase the debt so we end up like Greece with 25% unemployment
- ruin our health care
- destroy our military
- continue to cover up blunders like the terrorism in Benghazi
- don't stand by our our people overseas
- continue killing innocent civilians with drones
- continue getting into wars like Libya where the end result hurts our national interest
- increase the strength of Al Queda bu killing innocent civilians with drones
- continue to deceive the American people like Gibbs just admitted about being told not to admit the drone program
- lower the standard of living for all Americans
- foster hate & division in America
- try to receruit more moron commies like you

Perhaps if more of you right whiners would be better education about Islam, you would be such a pack of bigots.
Learning about Islam is not the same as practicing Islam.
Something evidently you can't comprehend.
Yeah let them try to teach about Christianity and see what happens! Every libiard loon for a 1000 miles around would be screaming separation of church and state!!!

Flimsy defense for the orchestrated indoctrination being effected by the liberals in this country.

Liberals love to laud their education but when reading their posts it appears most have no more than the basic skills achieved from a GED. Unfortunately Dave you don't appear to even have this level of education must less be a candidate for the school board (oh wait .. in the liberal world you don't need an education you only need to profess one.)

and Obama never will fix any problems, he's made them all worse while his media lapdogs are kept at arms length and never ask him the tough questions even when they are given the rare chance.

Obama's debt, dependency on government, and destruction of the military will mean the end of America as a world power. since this was his intention all along, he doesn't consider them to be problems. and Dems/libs and the blame America beliefs they were raised on since being called Sunshine and Moonbeam in the 60s...are all coming true. but hey, that's what America wanted and that's what we are getting. let him keep raising the taxes on the wealthy and spending that extra money in about 10 days. maybe Babs Streisand will have to sell one of her mansions and flee to Europe like Denice Rich and other wealthy libs have done.

Obama is the typical, liberal college professor:

'...We've seen in the past a certain love/hate relationship of Professor Obama with wealthy people - at first a Tony Rezko, but now refined and evolved much higher to those on Wall Street that the administration in schizophrenic fashion both damns and worships.

University administrators worship private money, and then among themselves scoff at the capitalism that created it. Campus elites, looking at a benefactor, are fascinated how someone - no brighter than they are - made so much money, even as they are repelled by a system that allows those other than themselves to have pulled it off. No wonder that Obama seems enchanted by a Warren Buffett, even as he trashes the very landscape that created Berkshire Hathaway's riches. No president has raised more money from Wall Street or has given it more protection from accountability - while at the same time demagoguing it as selfish and greedy...'

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/09/23/opi...

Hate is a strong word, I’d say more that Obama was raised in a certain mindset at a time when it was more popular to blame America and be unpatriotic. The other is his lack of real world and his having zero business experience.

I swear, it never fails. Every time I get back on topix I forget all about my daily hygiene. So much time has passed and here I sit in dirty, filthy underwear, greasy hair and teeth not brushed for three days! Why I haven't even had a bath in eight days! Slurping down big gulps and eating cheese doodles ain't exactly healthy. But so what, right? Making up things to complain about on topix is so much more fun than keeping myself presentable. I gave up on that a looong time ago! My Naugahyde barco-lounger absorbs the rank stench anyway!! What the hey!! Hubby hasn't acknowledged me since I came back to topix, he wants me to seek help. Lol, don't think so!

I'm thinking of going back to my real name, Carol, or maybe even Lorac. Anyone have any thoughts?

If you were honest & not the lying POS you are, you would know that the bill was a Republican agenda item all the way. It would not exist without the Republicans.
Bill Clinton signed that bill as part of a compromise.
But hey you f*cking idiots blame Clinton for the Nafta Treaty when Nafta was a Republican idea, negotiated by Republicans, signed by a Republican, passed Congress with Republican majorities.
Phil Gramm was instrumental in our economic disaster. Now you can defend Phil all you want. After all, Phil s a Republican. You can't seem to even admit a Republican was President hen this recession happened.
NAFTA-SIGNED INTO EFFECTIVE LAW-December 8, 1991, by William Jefferson Clinton!!!!

----------
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is signed into law by President Bill Clinton. Clinton said he hoped the agreement would encourage other nations to work toward a broader world-trade pact.

NAFTA, a trade pact between the United States, Canada, and Mexico, eliminated virtually all tariffs and trade restrictions between the three nations. The passage of NAFTA was one of Clinton's first major victories as the first Democratic president in 12 years--though the movement for free trade in North America had begun as a Republican initiative.

During its planning stages, NAFTA was heavily criticized by Reform Party presidential candidate Ross Perot, who argued that if NAFTA was passed, Americans would hear a "giant sucking sound" of American companies fleeing the United States for Mexico, where employees would work for less pay and without benefits. The pact, which took effect on January 1, 1994, created the world's largest free-trade zone. This Day in History-History.com

States with the Top Ten most MISERABLE cities 2013-

Leading the herd pack-
ILLINOIS with FOUR out of of ten.
Followed by Caliphonybrokia with THREE out of ten.
Michigan with TWO out ten, and...
NYC at the number one spot of MOST miserable city 2013.

That list actually sheds A LOT of LIGHT on the problem of rampant darkness so prevalent in the US these days.

That story from a chain e-mail was debunked over a month ago yet it won't go away. Even Pamela Geller @atlasshrugs the crazy Islam hating btch is blogging about the Irwin Independent School District and it's third tier Muslim indoctrination program as though it was a fact.

It's not a fact, it's total bullshyte created at a right wing blog and e-mailed around to "losers" who like to share secret government conspiracies.

Clinton's first term began in January of 1993 so he certainly didn't sign NAFTA in 1991 did he dummy?

But__he actually did sign NAFTA into law.

NAFTA was a Republican initiative all the way and a Bush I pet project, it was going to become law whether Clinton signed it or not but Clinton saw value in the agreement too.

It became a textbook example for unintended consequences.
