You gun nuts are pathetically programmed stooges for the NRA, do you seriously think they really care about anything other than gaining wealth? No one has ever tried to take away private gun ownership, besides things are far different now than when our nation needed an armned militia which was the sole reason for that being in the constitution.
We now are required to have safety belts in cars,,,DUH, we have lots of requirements now that we didn't have years ago. We as a society have more than proven that we have to be protected from our selves. With every gunnut in the US able to purchase any weapon they choose...Get real..Cowboy idiots. Maybe when Animals start to shoot back then we can upgrade. Common sense laws are just that.
We currently have more guns than the next 17 nations combined...over 3,000 of our children die needlessly every year. Responsible gun control has become a necessity in this country. The NRA plays you people like they own you and then you go out and prove that to be true.
Damn how many guns and ammo clips is enough, we desperatly need gun legislation and common sense weapons, along with background checks on all owners, how you gun nuts can't see that is mind boggling. I repeat your argument that the government is taking away your rights to bear arms is a stupid one and isn't true. How many must die before we do something.
Ghostie, Again you better read and understand the Second Amendment, before you go off, half- cocked....It also protects us from the government.

Given the choice between Medicare/Medicaid and single payer, single payer is the most cost effective way to go if you compare our per capita healthcare spending with single payer countries. I don't think the ACA's gonna bridge that cost gap.
I had hoped that that would have been the goal , but given the extreme position of the opposition, this compromise was left wanting. The good things are that insurance companies must spend 80% on healthcare and eliminating the pre existing clause. Lets see what happens.

Here's some data:
http://www.globalhealthfacts.org/data/topic/m...
Look at Cuba sitting in the sweet spot in the third graph:
http://ucatlas.ucsc.edu/spend.php
You got something besides hand wringing speculation?
Remember, data not op-eds.
If Cuba is such a paradise, wonder why so many people risk their lives leaving it?

Dr. Jaime Suchlicki of the University of Miami’s Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies explains the three levels of health care in Cuba:

First is for foreigners known as “medical tourism” who pay in hard currency and get First World treatment of clean, well supplied and state-of-the-art medical care.

(Cubans speak of “tourism apartheid”- separate hotels, separate beaches, separate restaurants, separate everything - causing widespread resentment in the general population.)

The second is for Cuban elites — the Party, the military, official artists and writers, etc. Their system, like the one for medical tourists, is top-notch.

The real Cuban system that ordinary people must use is wretched. Conditions are so unsanitary, patients have to bring their own bedsheets, soap, towels, food, light bulbs and even toilet paper. Basic medications are scarce. Finding an aspirin can be a chore and an antibiotic will fetch a fortune on the black market.

Cloward-Piven Strategy and Orchestrated Crisis.

Radical socialist Columbia University professors, Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven.

The strategy of forcing political change through orchestrated crisis. The Cloward-Piven Strategy hastens the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

Food stamps - like all welfare assistance - is meant to be a temporary hand up. Not a way of life.

When half of the country is on welfare - you better think twice about the reality of an orchestrated crisis.

How long can working Americans support the other half?

You don't think they're going to come right out and tell you the objective is control, do you?

It's like innoculations - given in little amounts - until you're immune to being controlled.

The idea of a mandate was a Republican plan. Yes, everyone should be insured, but having to buy it from private for profit insurance companies is not ideal. The public option, opening up Meicaire to all is the ideal.
In addition, the government could negotiate the cost of drugs on behalf of the American people. That's how it is done in Canada.

Our largest underlying problem in this country is corporate lobbying. Did you read about the recent gift given to AGM.? This will cost Medicare $500 million.
