"We may have to shed blood every couple hundred years to preserve our freedoms," Walsh told supporters at a rally, according to Chicago's DNAinfo.
Walsh also criticized conservatives who don't "understand we're at war [with progressives.]"

SACRAMENTO, Jan 10 (Reuters)- California's budget deficit is gone after years of financial troubles, Governor Jerry Brown said on Thursday, proposing a plan that raises spending on education and healthcare, boosting total expenditures by 5 percent.
Brown vowed to push back at legislators eager to raise spending quickly, restoring the billions of dollars to social services and other state functions that were cut in lean years.
"I am determined to avoid the fiscal mess that the last few governors had to deal with," Brown told reporters as he introduced the budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year beginning in July.

Guns and freedom
By Judge Andrew P. Napolitano
There have been practical historical reasons for the near universal historical acceptance of the individual possession of this Right. The dictators and monsters of the 20th century -- from Stalin to Hitler, from Castro to Pol Pot, from Mao to Assad -- have disarmed their people, and only because some of those people resisted the disarming were all eventually enabled to fight the dictators for freedom. Sometimes they lost. Sometimes they won.
The principal reason the colonists won the American Revolution is that they possessed weapons equivalent in power and precision to those of the British government. If the colonists had been limited to crossbows that they had registered with the king’s government in London, while the British troops used gunpowder when they fought us here, George Washington and Jefferson would have been captured and hanged.
We also defeated the king’s soldiers because they didn’t know who among us was armed, because there was no requirement of a permission slip from the government in order to exercise the right to self-defense.(Imagine the howls of protest if permission were required as a precondition to exercising the freedom of speech.) Today, the limitations on the power and precision of the guns we can lawfully own not only violate our natural right to self-defense and our personal sovereignties; they assure that a tyrant can more easily disarm and overcome us.
The historical reality of the Second Amendment’s protection of the right to keep and bear arms is not that it protects the right to shoot deer. It protects the right to shoot tyrants, and it protects the right to shoot at them effectively, thus, with the same instruments they would use upon us.

Gee a post from a Fox fan has a lot of credibility. In all these examples of tryants or dictators taking over the country did any of the population rise up against a war machine. Muskets vs Muskets is one thing, but tanks and missiles vs deer rifles is quite another. So that judge who is regular mouth piece for Fox giving history lessons on how a armed militia defended their patch has no revelance in todays world. After all remember Saddam, Gaddafi controlled a population who had weapons coming out their ears but did it help them in any way ? Not until the allieds bombed the crap out of them it didn't. Notice how well armed militia is working in Syria, almost 2 yrs now and still no progress. They only get the upper hand when high tech weapons get smuggled in to take out a tank or helicopter. Other than that they are marking time, 60,000 dead and no progress. A bit like the US civil war another fruitless exercise in a battle fought over a cause that is still in those southern states DNA. It comes out on issues like this. In otherwords everything the NRA puts up is just pure BS, no relevance at all other than blowing off steam on a cause that has no substance.

Guns save lives

" "Shoot him again! Shoot him!" Donnie Herman yelled. He told the dispatcher he heard a lot of screaming, but he seems to get increasingly worried when he doesn't hear anything from his wife.

Melinda Herman told police she started shooting the man when he opened the door to the crawl space. The man pleaded with her to stop, but she kept firing until she had emptied her rounds, she told police. She then fled to a neighbor's house with her children."
