Bush was in office less than 8 months before 9/11 and it was Clinton's 8 years in office that eased up on National Security! Not taking out Osama when he had the chance and Firing missiles at a baby milk factory did not hack it! Most Americans agreed with George Bush and for taking out terrorist training camps in Afghanistan responsible for almost 4,000 American deaths on 911 but not these clowns! Then we have Iraq and their no WMD's nonsense? What the hell do you call nerve agents Saddam used on Iranians and his OWN people as hundreds of thousands died from it? Kool- aid?? IT'S KNOWN FACT THAT HE HAD WMD'S!! What is so hard to understand that?? What did Saddam do with them? Archeologists many years from now will probably find them buried thousands of feet underground or he simply had them shipped off to Syria prior to the war! Take your pick! Furthermore, Saddam continually violated U.N. Resolutions from the First Gulf War and that in itself gave us every right to go back in!
What are you a "professor" of anyway? Mendacity, prevarication and obfuscation?
We're not talking about Afghanistan so let's put that aside and address Iraq which was the subject of the post. Congress authorized the use of military force only as a last resort if all other diplomatic measures failed. George W didn't let these other measures run their course forcing UN inspectors to abandon their searches in anticipation of the invasion.
Our actions in Libya were part of a larger NATO operation and was mainly supportive and no American forces were on the ground.
There was never any stand down order given when our ambassador and his staff were being attacked liar. Everything that could be done was done.
www.cnn.com/2012/11/09/world/...benghazi-time...
Contrary to your inane assertion, national security was not eased up during the Clinton administration but under Bush who downgraded the position of National Coordinator for Counterterrorism Richard Clarke so that his memos had to filter through the White House deputies instead of going directly to the President. The Bush administration did nothing about Al Qaeda until after 9/11 and Republicans ridiculed Clinton for bombing their training sites and accused him of "wagging the dog". But again it's not Afghanistan at issue here.
The nerve gas attacks on the Kurds happened during the Reagan administration moron, and subsequent to the first Gulf War UN inspectors dismantled and destroyed Hussein's production facilities stockpiles. Iraq was under constant surveillance and any attempt to bury or transfer these weapons would have been detected. With an invasion imminent why would he get rid of the weapons that would have raised the price on the invaders? It's not like he had anything to lose at that point.
You're an idiot!

Can you believe this?
Can you believe those dopes actually think an image of Obama is security for payment of a debt?
The first modern economist was Adam Smith. He described the embrionic stage of development of the modern industrial economy. The principles he stated have never been proven false.
Let's see what Adam Smith has to say about frauds like we have in the White House today:
"By means of those operations (authorizing the coinage of money without the backing of economic securities) the princes and sovereign states which performed them were enabled, in appearance, to pay their debts and to fulfil their engagements with a smaller quantity of silver than would otherwise have been requisite. It was indeed in appearance only; for their creditors were really defrauded of a part of what was due to them. All other debtors in the state were allowed the same privilege, and might pay with the same nominal sum of the new and debased coin whatever they had borrowed in the old.
Such operations, therefore, have always proved favourable to the debtor, and ruinous to the creditor, and have sometimes produced a greater and more universal revolution in the fortunes of private persons, than could have been occasioned by a very great public calamity."
Can you believe those idiots in charge of our economy are so ignorant they don't even know who Adam Smith is?
It's long been obvious Obama is ignorant. It should be obvious everyone around him is ignorant, also.
Making a coin with Obama's image on it to pay the debt....
ROFLMAO
There isn't any discussion of minting an official US coin with Obama's picture on it DB, there are so called commemorative coins being minted by private companies and if Romney was elected there would be one with his face on it.

Adding insult to injury, two of Hannity’s rivals on MSNBC, Ed Schultz and Rachel Maddow, held onto huge chunks of their audiences, while at CNN, far less politically polarizing host Anderson Cooper lost almost none of his viewers postelection.

It got even worse for Hannity in the “money demo” of viewers 25-54, who are prized by advertisers.

With this group, Hannity held onto less than half his preelection audience. O’Reilly, on the other hand, kept almost 70%.

And through the early part of December, Maddow actually beat Hannity in the coveted group — a shocking turn, because until the election, Hannity was unassailable by any of his rivals, at least in terms of ratings.

A pair of polls out this week shows the dire state the Republican Party finds itself in — and a way out of the wilderness, should Republicans choose to take it.

Poll No. 1: Rasmussen Reports found that views of the tea party — the wing of Republicanism that dominates party primaries and therefore the congressional Republican caucuses — at a new low. Only 8 percent of likely voters considered themselves tea-party members, down from 24 percent in 2010. According to Rasmussen (which tends to have a pro-Republican bias), unfavorable views of the movement topped favorable views, 49 percent to 30 percent.

Poll No. 2: Fairleigh Dickinson University found that 73 percent of New Jersey voters approved of the job their Republican governor, Chris Christie, is doing — near his all-time high. Even 62 percent of Democrats approve of Christie, as well as 69 percent of racial minorities and 70 percent of women. The top would-be challenger to Christie in November’s gubernatorial election is trailing him by 33 percentage points.

CAIRO, Sept. 27 (UPI)-- Osama bin Laden was blinded in his right eye and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood as a youth, al-Qaida's new leader said in an Internet video.

Ayman as-Zawahiri, the terror group's leader after bin Laden was killed by Navy SEALs in a raid in Pakistan in 2010, confirmed bin Laden was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood as a youth in his native Saudi Arabia. He was expelled for insisting members perform jihad against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan in the 1980s,

Nothing wrong with limiting flurocarbons and emmissions type stuff. What's wrong, is when the grubbermint would rather WASTE massive amounts of tax dollars on pie in the sky schemes, rather than appropriate a helping realm in aiding that which has long been proven to work, become even more improved.

Kind of like trying to invent a heat proof cap for volcanoes, if it can't erupt up, it'll erupt out, or down (like the current economy :-)....) so why waste the time and already denigrated resources in doing so.

Reuters)- A 79-year-old Florida woman pleaded guilty on Tuesday to criminal charges of tax evasion through accounts at Swiss bank UBS AG, one of the largest such prosecutions in years.

Mary Estelle Curran pleaded guilty in United States District Court in West Palm Beach, Florida, to two charges of filing false tax returns that failed to report her UBS accounts from 2001 to 2007, court papers show.

Curran's UBS accounts used foundations in Liechtenstein and Panama, two tax havens, to conceal money, the Justice Department said in a statement. She faces six years in prison.

At their peak, in 2007, the accounts held more than $42 million, making the case among the largest of its kind.

Curran's accounts evaded U.S. taxes of $667,700, court papers show. Under onerous U.S. penalties for failing to report the accounts, Curran agreed to pay a civil penalty of more than $26.6 million, representing 50 percent of the high balance in the accounts. In addition, she owes back taxes of more than $667,700, plus penalties and interest, court papers show.

Alex Jones on Gun Control
With Supporters Like Jones ...

I grew up with guns, support the 2nd Amendment, and can’t stand Piers Morgan. But I watched the entire video of Morgan’s interview with Alex Jones and I couldn’t help but cringe throughout. Jones comes off as a complete lunatic. Whatever points he tried to make were far overshadowed by his bizarre behavior. As Piers Morgan commented to Politico,“He was the best advertisement for gun control you could wish for.” Frankly, it is scary to think that someone who is as obviously unstable as Alex Jones is armed to the hilt.

First the NRA’s weird press conference and now this guy? Conservatives need to find better spokesmen on this and other issues.

Here is how the Christian Science Monitor put it:

But if anything, the White House should be happy that Jones is getting so much publicity for his attacks on Morgan’s pro-gun control stance. That’s our second point. The National Rifle Association might be furious: Jones is so outrageous and vituperative that the gun lobby must believe he’s counterproductive.

Sometimes how it’s said matters more than what is said.

America's White Male Problem

Our country is lurching from manufactured crisis to crisis and it isn't about politics; it's about pathology.

January 4, 2013 |

The American political process is being hijacked by a reckless, whining dangerous gang of psychologically damaged white men who are far-right ideologues. I used to be one of them. It's time to tell the truth about our white male problem.

Not everyone who disagrees with the president is a racist. Not even most people who do are. But the continuous attempt by the white far-right in Congress to shut down the government rather than work with our black president has a lot to do with racism. And lurching from manufactured crisis to crisis isn't about politics; it's about pathology. It doesn't make sense politically to take the blame for risking America's future -- and the Republicans know they will take the blame -- so how can we conclude other than something else is going on here?
I’m not talking about the white young male mass murderers we’re afflicted with carrying assault rifles courtesy of the NRA. I’m talking about the white far-right males who hijacked the 112th Congress and are set to destroy the 113th. They have metaphorically done to our country what the killer in Newtown literally did to 20 children, and for the same apparent reason: alienation from the mainstream and retreat to a paranoid delusional fantasy land of -- literal -- mental impairment.

This has less to do with politics and more to do with the fear and mental illness that grips a willfully ignorant minority of white males.
