Gun violence may be a problem in your neighborhood, but not so for most people.
This is why the US has always been LAST in line on the uptake for any social reform, because it can't get past you guys.
It goes all the way back to prohibition to the current day, there are certain things about square head thinking that strangles creativity and stops social change. I listed a few examples the other day, i mean minting pennies is one of them. It costs a third more than face value to make, same as a nickel. In today's climate total waste of time and money just because you can't handle rounding of pricing.

Only Liberal administrations have the insight to make or change laws that are beneficial to the population as a whole. A true Liberal thinker can weigh a problem and see the plus and the minus to any issue unfortunately some right wing conservatives have no way of doing that. So it never happens, like legalising Drugs for one, it could be a winfall for the government and kill crime at a stroke of a pen. Socially it would cost everyone less, but there would always be drug addicts. So that's the sole reason you make for not doing it, like trying to tell your daughters never to have sex until marriage. Not that you have any control over it but it feels good telling them. War on drugs is exactly the same.

Compare the gun violence in Europe to the United States. Name me one school shooting incident in Europe.

gSchool children use to train with United States Military personel in Europe in the 70's with European teachers permission. Grade school children. Then soldier would get a crayoned letter from class from the child he helped walk the woods with. One American soldier described his job as hunting monsters in the world and had the children pointing them out if they saw any.

We can only speak for ourselves, but I would have gladly given my own life to save one Iraqi child from Saddam's rape rooms. If my daughter felt that getting rid of this kind of evil in the world was a noble cause, I would be proud. If she didn't but was deployed there and killed anyway, I'm sure I would have mixed feelings as any parent would. But, in the end, I would still be proud because she didn't die in vain. Saddam is no longer a threat and a clear and present danger to civilization.
I am just as proud of all those who gave their lives as well as their families and their sacrifice.
It's too soon to tell if the cost was worth it - in both blood and treasure. It's been only about 5 years since the end of the surge. Iraqis are still trying to settle into their new life and it's not an easy transition.
If you read a variety of sources to get a complete picture of how Iraqis feel now, you will get a mixed response.
However, from my own research, the overriding concensus is that most Iraqis believe their country will heal and their economy will thrive again.
Again, it's too soon to know. Germany and Japan didn't heal overnight, but if you asked Germans today if it was worth the cost to rid Hitler of the world, more than likely they would unanimously say it was.
History will be the judge. But it will be years from now. For now, we can only hope it was the right and noble thing to do. There are no crystal balls.
Going with the old rape and torture room justification again Carol? Well stupid, they were still in full swing after the invasion under new management and being paid for on our dime.
www.globalresearch.ca/cia...in-iraq-torture-a...
Sadaam Hussein was never a threat to anyone after the first Gulf War nitwit, his army couldn't fight its way out of a whorehouse and as it turns out there were no WMD and no, they weren't shipped to Syria despite the claims of Georges Sada who's been making a lot of money with his book and speaking gigs off of fools like you.
www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/.../syria-iraq-... ...
What did we put in place after Sadaam Carol, sectarian violence and dislocations that didn't exist when he was in power. How many suicide bombings occurred before the invasion? None.
How was the Christian community doing before our invasion? Just fine, now they've been pretty much driven out of the country.
George W Bush didn't care about what was happening to the Iraqi people,he was one of the main critics of Clinton's intervention into the Balkans where there was massive rape torture and ethnic killings going on. It was all about oil.
Only an idiot would think that we did any good for the Iraqi people.

The headlines I posted specifically in reference to the "fiscal cliff" were ABC, NBC and CBS.
CBS has become more like the water boy, but NBC and ABC are definitely still the captains of the Team Obama squad.
As for knowing if the Iraq War was a huge waste of time, lives and money, we won't know that for many years to come.
The longer we ignore atrocities, however, the closer it gets to our own backyard.
I believe that very strongly.
However, we comitted a few ourselves in Germany at the end of WWII dropping fire bombs on innocent people, our treatment of Native Americans and, of course, our complacency and inaction to end slavery for 100 years.
It's because of that, I still hold the conviction we could very well be reaping what we have sown.
Carol, more atrocities were committed in Iraq after we invaded. And no stupid, we already know that the Iraq ware was a waste of lives and money which did nothing but play into the hands of the Iranians and gave Al Qaeda another area to operate in. I notice that you didn't mention Eisenhower's overthrow of the elected president of Iran putting the Shah in his place who was responsible for as many atrocities as Sadaam Hussein or Nixon using the CIA to overthrow Salvador Allende and put Augusto Pinochet into power whose abuses would make Sadaam blush with envy.

Knowing the demographics of america has changed, whitey still out for whitey. Screw the rest of the country. The bad part about it is you probably ain't even rich just got your nose up thee rich man's ass in hopes that he might like it & make you rich!
Show me a society that does NOT have a class of people at the top who have

1)Built wealth by taking risk and hard work
2)Inherited wealth
3)Stolen their wealth by taking it from someone else either by military action or by government redistribution

The difference between America and any other country is that everyone here has the opportunity to build weath through their own achievements. And then they can pass it on to their heirs.

Unfortunately, Obama's ideology has a problem with methods #1 and #2 and is transforming America by #3.

What you have posted, "whitey still out for whitey," shows you are held back by your culture. A culture which sat back while letting liberals destroy the family unit by encouraging out of wedlock births. And now you have a majority of single mothers dependent on the government to redistribute wealth. Your only problem is you think the successful should pay more money for this government ghetto-ization program.
