You have to look at the whole picture. Not just a small section of it.
If these taxes are going to effect businessmen and entrepeneurs, they will, by the very nature of tax increases, trickle down to consumers including middle and lower incomes paying more for products and, in turn, spending less. Increased taxes means less towards salaries and new jobs.
You really can't see the connection?
OH, I CAN, CAROL. I SEE THAT YOU AN OLD WHORE TRYIN' YOU BEST TO SOUND LIKE YOU MOTHER THERESA IN BETWEEN YOU POLITICAL RANTS. CAIN'T HAVE IT BOF' WAYS, HONEY. It's unimaginable the number of homeless and hungry people roaming around after January 1 because of no jobs and expired unemployment benefits.

Especially when even less jobs are on the horizon.

It's unimaginable that Americans let this happen. Voting for this president not once - but twice.

Romney referring to the 47% who would not vote for him and, among them, those who prefer being dependent on the government was also an unfortunate misstatement.
However, the fact that, by your own account, 54% approve of this president taking us over the cliff only proves how irrational far too many Americans have become.
When we have had a Democrat president and a Democrat-controlled Senate for the past four years, blaming House Republicans who are outnumbered on both sides is not only short-sighted but a perfect example of how desperate those that lean to the left are to hold somone - anyone - accountable besides their own party.
Obama is more than happy if we go over the cliff. Geithner said as much on Meet the Press.
So if we DO go over the cliff and 54% of Americans are more than happy if we do, blaming republicans is an exercise in futility and nothing more than a sheer desperate transparency. To say the least.
Technically, the House and particularly the cons are so divided and dis-functional, they clearly cannot come to any agreement.

Besides, can you tell me who really does control the purse strings?

Last I checked, it wasn't the president!

The sad truth is we will never know if Republicans could have turned this thing around.

Those who wanted an entitlement president got what they wanted. But at what price?

At this point, Boehner and the GOP MUST - absolutely MUST - let Obama own this cliff - lock, stock and barrel.

They are making Obama look like the hero in this bizarre melodrama we're watching unfold in total disbelief. He is now cutting his vacation short to come back and save the day.

Give the darn cliff to him. He's wants it but wants to blame them. Why don't they just give it to him? Let him own it and wear it like a tattoo on his forehead.

Give Obama the tax hikes, the recession, the exploding deficit - all of it - for friggin' cryin' out loud!

its no different than the Democrats on how they were split with the healthcare bill and the one part of the democrats became known as the Blue Dog Democrats.

What the frick does it matter if they come to an agreement or not or even if they come up with the best frikkin' plan and agreement known to man?

The Democrat Senate won't take it up for a vote. Even if they did, it wouldn't pass. Even if it did, Obama wouldn't sign it.

The Republicans are being played like a fiddle and are willingly becoming the scapegoats for the real culprits of this mess.

They need to get out of the way once and for all. It doesn't matter what they do - or do not do - at this point. They are only playing into a scheme designed by the democrats.

By 2014, we're going to be in such deep doo-doo, Superman couldn't even save the day.

I want to let the Democrats have this. All of it.

Republicans MUST wash their hands of this whole thing, kick the dust off their feet and walk away and wait for the crap to hit the fan. If we're going down, the blame needs to go where it squarely belongs.

No. Akins and Mourdock made absurd statements lacking any factual basis because they were looking for excuses to justify opposing abortion under any circumstances, including rape.

They were factually incorrect, believing BS they heard in their holy roller churches, not just victims of poor expression.

Republicans like to play follow the Leader(Democrats) and Bush proved that too with the continuation of Clinton's housing initiative and Bush signing into law Medicare Part D that the Republicans just added the cost to the Federal Deficit of the Entitlement Society.

These are people who have exhausted their state unemployment benefits and have moved on to emergency federal unemployment benefits, which also eventually expire. Most whose benefits expire then file for disability benefits. So don't lose any sleep.
