Unless we are ready to be a nation of vegetarians, "reasonable" hunting weapons should not be banned. It is no more ethically defensible to let someone kill an animal for us than killing the animal ourselves. There are legitimate arguments on both sides regarding the humanity in the way in which the animal is killed but that's a debate for another time.
That being said, the weapon may be a bow, guns aren't necessary to hunt.
And, the argument regarding the 2nd Amendment provision to arm a militia to protect us from our government is moot. We might as well use rocks against the weapons that the government arsenal has in it.
I'd be much happier in a world without guns, ban them all.

Still hiding in th ecloset, eh Chief??
All you do is prove what a complete azzhole you are.
Who said the word "teacher", dckscker? I said "qualified staff member". We have armed security guards at malls, sporting events, airports, and literally everywhere else. What scares you about schools (other than it will severely inhibit your predatory hunting of young boys)?

Let's wait a bit and then ask the parents if they wish an armed & qualified security person had been at the school. It might not have helped, but then it certainly would have at Virginia Tech. You are just too much of a puscee to even carry on a logical conversation with (but at least you didnt have any rudmentary spelling errors in your last post)...

In a separate but related issue, four people were executed in Los Angeles last week by a convicted felon with a long criminal history who had been released from prison because of overcrowding.

If you wanted my opinion.
You're obviously speaking of the political correctness of the right, which has allowed the NRA to dictate American laws, resulting in the deaths of untold thousands of Americans.

Here's the type of political correctness you support:

"Gun-related death rates in the United States are eight times higher than they are in countries that are economically and politically similar to it. Higher rates can be found in developing countries and those with political instability"

In spite of what morons like Huckabee say, it's gun nuts on the right that have paved the way for these young white men turning into mass killers.

And you're stupid enough to keep beating dead horses, even after you've been proven wrong, time and again.

isn't it about time for you to leave again?? Do us all a favor..........and get a life.

" The New American magazine reminds us that March 25th marked the 16th anniversary of Kennesaw, Georgia's ordinance requiring heads of households (with certain exceptions) to keep at least one firearm in their homes.

The city's population grew from around 5,000 in 1980 to 13,000 by 1996 (latest available estimate). Yet there have been only three murders: two with knives (1984 and 1987) and one with a firearm (1997). After the law went into effect in 1982, crime against persons plummeted 74 percent compared to 1981, and fell another 45 percent in 1983 compared to 1982.

And it has stayed impressively low. In addition to nearly non-existent homicide (murders have averaged a mere 0.19 per year), the annual number of armed robberies, residential burglaries, commercial burglaries, and rapes have averaged, respectively, 1.69, 31.63, 19.75, and 2.00 through 1998.

With all the attention that has been heaped upon the lawful possession of firearms lately, you would think that a city that requires gun ownership would be the center of a media feeding frenzy. It isn't. The fact is I can't remember a major media outlet even mentioning Kennesaw. Can you?

The reason is obvious. Kennesaw proves that the presence of firearms actually improves safety and security."

In a school environment, the security would best be provided by someone analogous to an air marshal, an armed teacher or staff member whose identity was not public. Cost would be minimal because this person would have a regular job. A visible uniformed cop would just be taken out first by a determined killer.

So every school in America will have 1 or more armed guards??

Will the NRA pay for this?? It's their fault it's needed!!

Here's the likely end for you and those like you;

"Son Who Allegedly Killed Neo-Nazi Leader Jeff Hall Goes On Trial In California "

"The 10-year-old son of a neo-Nazi leader told his younger sister that he planned to shoot their father, then a day later took a gun from his parents' bedroom and fired one bullet into his father's head as the man slept on a couch, a prosecutor alleged Tuesday.

The boy's father, Jeff Hall, was an out-of-work plumber who also was a regional leader of the National Socialist Movement.

Hall, 32, joined the group and organized rallies at synagogues and a day labor site after his sister-in-law was killed about six years ago by a hit-and-run driver who was an illegal immigrant.

In opening statements at the boy's murder trial in juvenile court, Riverside County Deputy District Attorney Michael Soccio dismissed the notion that Hall's neo-Nazi beliefs "conditioned" the child to kill. Instead, Soccio said, the boy was a violent and angry child who'd been expelled from multiple schools."

Nutjobs like you wll likely be killed by a family member with one of your guns.

Stupid fck.

" Guns aren’t even the most lethal mass murder weapon. According to data compiled by Grant Duwe of the Minnesota Department of Corrections, guns killed an average of 4.92 victims per mass murder in the United States during the 20 th century, just edging out knives, blunt objects, and bare hands, which killed 4.52 people per incident. Fire killed 6.82 people per mass murder, while explosives far outpaced the other options at 20.82. Of the 25 deadliest mass murders in the 20 th century, only 52 percent involved guns."

You seem to think there are still one room schoolhouses, like when you were a child.

So this armed guard can be in all areas of the school at once??

Did you see how big the school in CT was?? Or Va Tech??
