what's wrong with letting AMERICANS keep more of what they earn...
that way they don't need the kind, compassionate, and HIGHLY ETHICAL government to take it from someone...
what on earth is wrong with you...
You do know about the US tax rate being the lowest it has ever been for the past 10 plus years? You do know that most of the super rich pay a rate of only 15% just like Mitt? You do know that of the 400 richest in America according to Forbes 6 of them paid NO taxes. You do know without taxes we would not have 70% of the electric service or highways or airports in America? You do know that all the military is paid by tax money?

Every Sparrow’s Fall

Here’s a piece of unsolicited advice for pro-life candidates who want to make the case for banning all abortions, without making exceptions for rape and incest: stop talking about the beautiful gift of life.

If you believe that life begins at conception, and that every life deserves a chance to live, and that therefore all abortion is murder, then it is entirely logical that there should be no exceptions to abolition. I don’t quibble with that logic.

But a “gift” is something given to someone. It’s not a fact; it’s a subjective relationship to a fact. So who is supposed to be the recipient of the “gift” of life in a case of rape or incest?

It’s not the baby. In the absence of said baby, there’s no prior entity to receive the gift of life. The baby itself is the life. Logically, then, the baby itself is the gift. Which means the recipient is either the woman, or creation at large.

That’s certainly the way it sounds when people say this, and that’s the reason this formulation sounds horrible to people not committed ideologically to the pro-life position. It makes the baby sound like a “silver lining” that makes the rape not so bad – like evidence that God’s providence was working behind even the most horrible scenes. Which isn’t remotely the way most women would perceive it.

Some might, of course. But those women, women capable of feeling love toward the product of violence upon their person, have achieved a kind of saintliness. And saintliness is, I think, to much to expect of ordinary mortals, and certainly too much for the legislature to demand.

And the position is a theological dodge anyway. God is the author of everything, or He is the author of nothing. If He is responsible for the baby, then He is responsible for the rape. Or, to put it somewhat differently, if you’re supposed to find a way to God through trauma, that way can’t be limited to finding some objectively “good” thing that God must have intended to come of it. Every moment of life, whatever happens in that moment, is a “precious gift”– if you take the idea of a “gift of life” seriously. And if God really is in any meaningful sense attentive to every sparrow’s fall, then He is addressing that sparrow’s subjective perspective; and if you’re going to present yourself as the voice of God on the subject it really behooves you to try your best to do the same.

Palin isn't as dumb as liberals want to believe she is.
But I have to say I was glad that she faded out of the limelight a bit before the election as she is such a polarizing figure.
When she makes a television appearance now, I find she's much more engaging.
"carol"
Sarah Palin is not dumb. She has backbone and says what needs to be said. I wish she had been more public during the recent election, stood up for what she believes in, not the wishy washy crap we saw all to often this past election.

The Real GOP Fiasco: Fairness

Bill Kristol, for once, is right. The Bush tax cuts for the rich have to go.

The election is barely over, but true to form, Mitch McConnell and John Boehner have already bungled the next one. Their line in the sand is exactly the wrong way to recast the GOP’s appeal to minorities, women, and working-class whites.

Look at the data. Exit polls showed that voters largely agreed that Romney was a “strong leader” and “had a vision for the future.” But as AEI’s Henry Olsen notes,“Romney lost because he lost among those who chose the remaining characteristic – by 63 points, 81-18. That characteristic? Cares about people like me.”(The exit polls do not include the nine million white voters who showed their opinion by not voting at all.)

Having lost two national elections in which the Bush tax cuts were at issue, the GOP Congressional leadership now seems determined to dig the ditch deeper.

http://www.theamericanconservative.com/the-re...

The Republican Party can appeal to “Judeo-Christian values” as long as the sun shines and their voices hold out. But they’ve abandoned the most basic moral value of all: fairness. America is supposed to be the land of opportunity. But tell that to minorities, to single women, to working-class whites. Even 44 percent of voters who earn over $200,000 a year voted for Obama, the candidate who promised to raise their taxes.

But...what the hey...weez gots free cellphones!
Oh NO!!!!!!!!!! Not the Dark Ages!!!!!!!!!!Oh NO!!!!!!!!!! The US has sent Egypt $1.3 Billion per year for the past 40 years as payoff to leave Israel alone. Israel gets $3 Billion per year by the way. But now under Obama doing what has been done for the past 40 years it's the Dark Ages. OH NO !!!!!!!!!!

America needs to get rid of all these guns. In countries where guns are banned, gun crimes are practically nonexistent. Most Americans agree that President Obama needs to step up to the plate and get rid of all these guns.

In today's improved economy, Americans can afford to pay a more in taxes. Tax dollars are necessary to keep the government functioning properly. Paying taxes is one of the most patriotic things an American can do.

Jeeps are responsible for the destruction of millions of acres of wetlands and beaches every year. They should be banned like they were recently on North Carolina's outer banks. Nobody needs to be driving on our beaches and wetlands. That's what America's highway system is for.

A person in Mexico can live very comfortabley on $26.40 a day. They have a different economy. Americans could live comfortabley on that before George Bush destroyed the economy.

Daily Horoscope for May 18

Aquarius

Watch out if you're going shopping, because you'll be tempted to splash out on impulse buys. This doesn't matter so much if you're feeling flush, but it could cause problems if you're supposed to be counting every penny. Whatever the state of your finances, you may buy items you don't need and possibly even won't like when you look at them again tomorrow.
