Bobby Jindal: Birth Control Should Be Over-The-Counter

The price of birth control would be driven down if companies had to compete to sell it in the marketplace, and women only visit gynecologists to obtain birth control prescriptions because "big government says they should," he said.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/14/bobb...

"Democrats have wrongly accused Republicans of being against birth control and against allowing people to use it," he writes. "That's hogwash."

I gotta chime in on this one---Galt's was a little off the mark of having a REAL clue with THAT comment lol.
I was going to just ignore John Galt's baseless claim that teachers in one subject area work harder than in another subject area. But it does provide an excellent example of why unions are necessary to protect workers from the whims of knuckledraggers like this.

How the GOP Lost National Security

Democrats have filled the long-standing national-security gap with Republicans not by offering an alternative vision for international affairs, but by demonstrating to voters greater competence in executing foreign policy—and successfully framing Republicans as reckless and irresponsible when it comes to national security.

http://nationalinterest.org/commentary/how-th...

nowadays is seems that only the right wing sites have anything good to say about Republicans. and not even all of those are on that weak bandwagon.

There are costs in negotiating and enforcing a contract. Ensuring a safe working environment and lobbying for remedies to work related problems takes time and money. Protecting against management abuses of power such as nepotism and favoritism requires oversight. No reasonable person believes that each individual is better off bearing the burden of these tasks themselves.
Don't fool yourself, non-union workplaces use models developed through union efforts and non-union workplaces also benefit from the competitive salaries generated by union contracts.
Its naive to say unions have outlived their usefulness.

Wrong, Obamacare doesn't force abortion on the Catholic bishops in any way unless you subscribe to their belief that a fertilized egg becomes a fully invested human being. This concept also known as "personhood" was put before voters in conservative Mississippi and was defeated. It also goes against the writings of Church Fathers like Augustine and Aquinas.
Even if one does subscribe to the above belief, the mandate for those employers who offer any type of health care coverage, to offer specific coverage, doesn't "force abortion" down anyone's throat. Women pay our own premiums, and our health insurance should cover our health care needs, whether our employer 'approves' or not. Imagine the hue and cry if a Jehovah's Witness employer refused to offer insurance which covers blood transfusions to his/her workforce. Same thing.

<quoted text>When the church operates an entity in the commercial world like a hospital, college or university that serves and hires non Catholics and competes with non Catholic entities then they can't force their beliefs on those that don't adhere to their faith.
Obama won the Catholic vote despite the pronouncements of the bishops. Catholics by and large don't hold any allegiance to bishops who are assigned by the Vatican without any input from the people in the dioceses that they rule.
Exactly so.

<quoted text>I notice that right wingers like you seem to ignore the fact that Christians in Iraq suffered forced dislocations and many were killed following our invasion of that country. If the Syrian Christians put their support behind the Assad regime which is killing its own people then they have no one to blame but themselves. It's all the more reason why religious groups should stay away from politics.
Far, far away. Religion has no place in crafting laws which affect both the religious and non-religious among us. Eric Shwartz puts it very well: "There's beauty in religion, and joy, and love, and hope; and we're all looking for the answers - the colossal cosmic cause - but who the **** are you, to turn your views into my laws?"

Thanks.

Other Media Provocateurs Pan Steven Crowder's Performance

Video of conservative activist Steven Crowder's tussle with a union member in Michigan this week, which led to the Fox News contributor being punched, and knocked to the ground, has gone viral in the conservative media — but it's being panned by other career mischief-makers in the media who believe Crowder fumbled his performance.

Michelle Fields, a former video journalist for The Daily Caller who used to regularly cover Occupy Wall Street, said Crowder appeared to violate one of the first rules of this kind of stunt reporting: Don't taunt the protesters.

"Going to liberal rallies and confronting people is a delicate situation," Fields said. "It’s important not to taunt because you’re just putting yourself at risk."

Fields said she generally got good material simply by letting the demonstrators speak for themselves.

"It’s important not to instigate the person you’re interviewing," she said. "You don’t have to make them look stupid. I never went in trying to make them feel stupid. What I usually do is try to make them feel comfortable and gain their trust."

Fields only got into physical trouble once on the job, when New York City police officers handled her roughly at a protest.

Unions don't protect incompetent workers, they want the bad eggs out of the work environment more than management does. What unions do is insure due process as guaranteed in the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Surely you don't object to that, do you?

Wow, is this negro retarded!!!

Rob Parker thinks his critics are “uneducated” and “silly”

Posted by Michael David Smith on December 14, 2012, 10:19 AM EST

ESPN has admitted that commentator Rob Parker crossed the line when he questioned whether Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is not really black because he has a white fiancee. But Parker doesn’t seem to think he did anything wrong.

After making those comments on Thursday morning, Parker was inundated with criticism on Twitter, and in his responses on Thursday afternoon, he generally acted as though he was the one who was owed an apology for anyone daring to question what he’d said. Parker called his critics, among other things,“uneducated” and “silly.”

But Parker suddenly stopped tweeting on Thursday, presumably because his bosses at ESPN told him to knock it off. After all, if the critics who were going after Parker on Twitter are uneducated and silly, doesn’t that mean the bosses at ESPN who said Parker’s comments were inappropriate are also uneducated and silly?

Before he went silent on Twitter, Parker also told critics to tune in to Friday’s First Take for more discussion of the matter. That’s right out of the First Take playbook: The show thrives on provoking controversy. But Friday’s First Take didn’t open with Parker or with any discussion of Griffin. Instead, the show simply ignored Parker’s comments and launched into an argument between panelists Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith about Sunday’s Steelers-Cowboys game.
