Erm, why do you stay with the union, if you hate your union so much? Go back to school, learn another trade, take on another skill.<quoted text>
You sound naive as hell. Your hubby may have been in a union but he, along with his clueless wifey, sucked up all they were fed. I, too, belong to a union and have for 35 years. I know what I am talking about. Unions are corrupt, undemocratic and every second word issued by a union is propaganda. Members are kept in the dark. Representation between members and union leadership is never allowed to be direct. They use "delegates" as go-betweens. This insular approach is necessary to the leadership safe from members asking too many and the wrong questions. They have more important things to do:}
When there is a union election, it is the delegates who attend a national convention most often in entertainment meccas like Las Vegas or Atlantic City. Some of the more honest(or simply naive) Delegates have described to me what goes on at those convention hotels after hours. Naked people chasing paid-for prostitutes through hotel hallways, smoking dope, free meals at five star restaurants, free transportation, etc. They are wined and dined by every camp pulling for their candidate.
I think you can easily understand why individual members are not allowed to vote straight for their candidate.
Unions today are corrupt Socialist political machines. Read history. Learn from it so that you don't repeat it. These types of "organizations" throughout Europe, Russia and China have a bloody history of lying to the ignorant, pliable masses, whipping them up into a killing frenzy, and trashing civilization. What the Labor Unions here have become is NOT what they claim to be - the saviors of the Common Man - but money machines duping the members into supporting and evil agenda.
In a perfect world, unions would protect their workers best interest and keep their activities focused there. But they haven't, they don't and they never will because the temptation of nearly unlimited political power is too tempting. RTW is an effort to bring some sanity back into Labor Relations. Nothing is perfect but the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.
This is so-o-o-o true of the Boy Messiah's Fiscal Cliff:}
That's a joke, son:>
It's that whole 'personal responsibility' thing.
Geez, I'm really getting tired of 'splainin' this to ya, Lucy.
