Barack Obama, our next President

Boehner: Obama Needs to Stop Acting Like He Won Election

Posted by Andy Borowitz

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Tensions over the so-called fiscal cliff reached a boiling point today as House Speaker John Boehner accused President Obama of acting like he won the November election.

“Our message is clear: Mr. President, we are ready to negotiate with you,” Mr. Boehner told reporters.“But this nonsense of acting like you won the election has got to stop.”

Lashing out at Mr. Obama’s “delusional arrogance,” Mr. Boehner added,“I don’t know what planet he thinks he won an election on, but this whole ‘the American people elected me’ act is getting a little old.”

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell echoed Mr. Boehner’s sentiments, stating,“The President’s budget proposal sounds like the ravings of a man who thinks he won fifty-one per cent of the popular vote and three hundred and thirty-two electoral votes. When he decides it’s finally time to return to Realityville, he knows where to find us.”

Sen. McConnell denied earlier reports that he “burst out laughing when he heard Mr. Obama’s latest budget proposal, telling reporters,“Actually, it would be more accurate to say I peed myself.”

“That business about raising taxes on the rich was—pardon my French—freaking hilarious,” Sen. McConnell said.“I’m glad that losing the election hasn’t made the President lose his sense of humor.”

You didn't answer the question. If jobs are going to become even more scarce after the first of the year with increased taxes and more regulations, will unemployment benefits go on indefinitely?
You didn't ask a question. You framed a statement as a question, a laughable ploy frequently employed by our friends at Fox "News". Figures you'd pick up on it and parrot it.

Can't.

According to the right wing noise machine a 10% reduction in defense spending would rank our military capabilities somewhere under Micronesia's.

Because you idiots couldn't pick the right guy, Ron Paul, because you idiots thought he was "unelectable". Evidently he was every bit as unelectable as Mitt. Y'all had an opportunity to present a clear contrast but instead went with the slightly whiter shade of Obama.

Serves you right.

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

President Eisenhower's economic policy was a series of initiatives to strengthen the market-based and market-directed economy and enhance personal freedom.

Under the Eisenhower administration the economy had greatly expanded with the Dow Jones Industrials stock market index more than doubling (from 288 to 634).

Under Eisenhower there was a large governmental economic stimulus in the form of legislation establishing the National System of Interstate and Defense Highways.

The Eisenhower years were marked by low unemployment and low inflation. And the national debt indeed declined further.

So, basically, no comparison.

Paul had a significant following among young voters too, but the GOP thinks young voters are stupid and don't vote. Oops. With all the talk about the evils of contraception, those young voters will be Democrats for life.

Considering the choice of leadership - a proven failure on economic policies and a proven success - it should have been a no brainer.

Out of over 120 million voters, winning by only 3 million isn't earth shattering.

Hurricane Sandy turned the tides more than anything else.

Yet, people are still suffering in New York and New Jersey despite the "presidential" photo ops and the opportunity for Obama to "look" presidential.

You didn't mention the women in Afghanistan under the Taliban rule.
Punishments against women by the Taliban in Afghanistan were often carried out publicly either as formal spectacles held in sports stadiums or town squares or spontaneous street beatings.
In October 1996, a woman had the tip of her thumb cut off for wearing nail varnish.
In December 1996, 225 Kabul women had been seized and punished for violating the sharia code of dress. The sentence was handed down by a tribunal and the women were lashed on their legs and backs for their misdemeanor.
In May 1997, five female CARE International employees were forced from their vehicle by members of the religious police. The guards used a public address system to insult and harass the women before striking them with a metal and leather whip almost 5 feet in length.
In 1999, a mother of seven was executed in front of 30,000 spectators in Kabul’s Ghazi Sport stadium for allegedly murdering her abusive husband. She was imprisoned for three years and extensively tortured prior to the execution, yet she refused to plead her innocence in a bid to protect her daughter (reportedly the actual culprit).
When a Taliban raid discovered a woman running an informal school in her apartment, they beat the children and threw the woman down a flight of stairs (breaking her leg) and then imprisoned her. They threatened to stone her family publicly if she refused to sign a declaration of loyalty to the Taliban and their laws.
An Afghan girl named Bibi Aisha was promised to a new family through a tribal method of solving disputes known as baad. When she fled the violence girls often suffer under baad, her new family found her and a Taliban commander ordered her punished as an example, "lest other girls in the village try to do the same thing". Her ears and nose were cut off and she was left for dead in the mountains, but survived.
Failure to comply with Taliban's threats led to women being shot and killed as was the case of 22-year old Hossai in July 2010.
Many punishments were carried out by individual militias without the sanction of Taliban authorities as it was against official Taliban policy to punish women in the street.
...You're on the wrong side. Of just about everything.
Empathy is a word and only a word to Tenzing types. Describing the loss of political/economic freedoms or the torture of innocents to many Liberals is like trying to describe a disembowelment to a blind deaf mute. You can't reach into the depths of a shallow mind.

Imagine all that, even with a top marginal tax rate of 90%. How did all the 'job creators' survive?
