Probably broke the meter.

Many parents engage in behavior far worse for their children than smoking. Do you want the government to regulate every aspect of your life?

(Note that Galt detests smoking, but detests government interference even more.)

I remember this. My parents have always heated their home with wood burning stove; major undertaking to make the conversion.
Humans have been polluting the world forever with campfires and clear-burns for agriculture and hunting. But so, too, has the world itself polluted itself with volcanism, lightning and lightning-forest fires, methane releasing plants and swamps and rotting animals.

The major difference hear is that the Earth heals itself over tens of thousands and even millions of years and it's polluting is widely distributed over time and distances. Humans are quick and dirty, so quick and dirty that the Earth can't keep up its cleaning chores anymore.

But I don't think that campfires, Autumn Leaf Burning and smoking tobacco in the privacy of out homes is going to bring time to a standstill. We drink from plastic bottles leaching chemicals that can cause genetic changes. We consume foods made from GMO tinkering that hasn't been thoroughly explored for safety.. We tolerate a lot of dangerous behaviors from alcohol consumers at sports events and laugh it off, Modernista babes are cutting off their toes to fit into stylish high heels, mothers are getting plastic surgery for their prepubescent darlings and taking drugs to lose weight and yet the PC Chihuahuas are yapping at every corner about 64oz. pop, 2nd hand smoke, McDonald's Menu and quoting Dr. Oz like he was the Wall st. version of St. Peter.

Hypocrisy and misdirected priorities are more of a social problem than the PC Crowd's latest Project-Of-The-Day.

The Liberal world often triggers my memories of the book and movie Fahrenheit 451 where the Television is central to every human being's existence. When the story's central character dares to actually read a book and then escapes custody for doing so, the TV announces it and calls on all good citizens to take a moment and go outside to search their neighborhoods for the scoundrel. Hundreds of millions of doors opened wide and the grand PC crowd moved outdoors.
Oprah Winfrey, Hollywood celebrities, The View, Rock Stars and a laundry list of other PC Aggregators along with The Boy Messiah's Wu Mao Dang crowd make up today's source for the obedient Fahrenheit 451 TV slaves.
Fahrenheit 451 is no longer fictional literature but a growing reality of the Boy Messiah's Hope & Change Bible. Say "Hallelujah!", brother. Lez go down 2 da ribba an' git da water!
"Ray Bradbury has stated that the novel is not about censorship, but a story about how television destroys interest in reading literature, which leads to a perception of knowledge as being composed of factoids, partial information devoid of context."
Television?!?! I wonder what he thought of the Internet?

And, if you overcook that hamburger, the ash becomes a carcinogen and the Food Police will then have you arrested. Damned if you do, Damned if you don't....Red Meat will then become history and Michael Bloomberg will demand that all New Yorkers become Vegans or face severe penalties and fines.

Pure oxygen itself is not combustible, but combining it with other elements makes THEM extremely combustible, just like pure water doesn't conduct electricity. It's the minerals and impurities in the water that conduct the electricity.

Television?!?! I wonder what he thought of the Internet?
Good observations. Myself, I find TV to be an addictive wasteland. There is truly nothing new on TV. The stories are improved, slick versions of the 2000 year old Greek tragedies assisted by High-Tech, tweaked by visual arts and presented as being fresh like you might present Wax Fruits.

The mind needs to be fed healthy, nutritious food for thought to remain healthy. Today, the minds of millions are being fed Wax Fruit by the Temple Priests of The New Reality.
