Folks, if you are an American citizen then Barack Obama is your president.
If you state otherwise then please clarify what country you currently hail from.
Barack Obama is the President, which means that he is responsible for executing the laws passed by Congress.

Barack Obama is not King, Emperor, Dictator, Potentate, or even Prime Minister.

Republicans Can't Face Post-Election Reality

The Nile is not a river in Egypt; it's the post-election operating principle for Republicans and conservatives. Rather than face reality many Republicans would rather stick their heads in the sand and complain about the voters. In his political thriller Julius Caesar, Shakespeare wrote "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in the stars, but in ourselves that we are underlings." If Republicans want to get on track, they need to take a hard look at themselves and not blame everything on Mitt Romney.

Many conservatives and Republicans share Romney's disdain for voters. I like to watch the Fox News Channel when things go badly for Republicans, so I've been watching the Fox News Channel a lot lately. I enjoy hearing the excuses that their commentators make for the GOP. The spin out of GOP-TV is that President Barack Obama won because voters are stupid, selfish, or sinful. Now, there's a winning campaign message for you. Conservative columnist George Will said Sunday on ABC that the Republican Party must "quit despising the American people." I knew that if I waited long enough, I would agree with Will on something.

Glad you brought that up. The scriptures tell us a day is like a thousand years in the eyes of God.

"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness."

(Both references can be found in 2 Peter and Psalms.)

It does kind of work out, doesn't it? The way men and women balance and compliment each other, I mean?
Guess it's possible women could have cut down trees and built their own homes or figured out how to build an engine - and men could have knitted, made their own clotes and cooked and cleaned.
But, historically, each have had their own God-given roles and talents.
Of course, a lot of men do women's work now compared to olden times. Not too many women are lumberjacks and construction workers.

That would be complement, not compliment, unless you're into flattering...you might, having already completed him with the green card.

If you think women aren't capable of building houses or engines you're "clotes" probably don't drape well either and you're one wasted rib.

Republicans abandoning Romney over 'gifts' remark
Former presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, who made several memorable comments of his own on the campaign trail, deemed Romney’s remark “nuts.”
“I think it’s nuts. I mean, first of all, it’s insulting. The job of a political leader in part is to understand the people,” he said on ABC’s “This Week.”“If we can’t offer a better future that is believable to more people, we’re not going to win.”
And South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” tied Romney’s remarks to a Republican “death spiral.”

See instead of a death spiral what they need is a Death Star like in Star Wars, then they could effectively rule their empire, plus it'd be pretty cool science fictionally speaking of course.

Carol, you have a very narrow view of things. Mankind has had these ups and downs for thousands of years, beside Homer blames the 1980's when Reagan perpetuated, fueled and nurtued the global takeover by the corporations.

<quoted text>They will strike a deal because both cutting spending and raising taxes at this point would be bad for the economy. Nobody wants to hurt the economy, well maybe the Republicans up for re-election in the next election.
Ideally in better economic times I think they should cut spending across the board, including PBS, the arts and including the military - meaning more of a reduced presence around the world not necessarily arms/new technology because reducing spending there will also have a negative effect on the economy, and basically just putting an end to the Bush tax cuts. We have to pay for these unfunded wars.
Explain to me how we can cut taxes and go to war?
Any "deal" will mean maintaining the status quo, with the possible exception of raising taxes on the wealthy, a meaningless gesture. Clearly, the status quo is not working.

You say that the wars are unfunded, but the reality is that all government spending is partially "unfunded." It is unrealistic to say that some government operations are fully funded and others are unfunded.

The issue in government finance is revenue generation, regardless of tax rates. With current anemic economic growth, it is impossible to generate enough revenue to cover expenses.

The government is currently spending twice as much as it takes in through taxes. What is your solution?

I said billions, I think if the scriptures were written today the wording would be billions, I don't think they could grasp a concept beyond thousands back then.
