I don't mean to suggest that Democrats are any better when it comes to the deficit, although they have a better case for saying so based on the contrasting fiscal records of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. The national debt belongs to both parties. But at least the Democrats don't go on Fox News day after day proclaiming how fiscally conservative they are, and organize tea parties to rant about deficits, without ever putting forward any plan for reducing them. Nor do they pretend that they have no responsibility whatsoever for projected deficits, at least half of which can be traced directly to Republican policies, according to Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag.

It astonishes me that a party enacting anything like the drug benefit would have the chutzpah to view itself as fiscally responsible in any sense of the term. As far as I am concerned, any Republican who voted for the Medicare drug benefit has no right to criticize anything the Democrats have done in terms of adding to the national debt. Space prohibits listing all their names, but the final Senate vote can be found here and the House vote here.

The process of elections has become problem-ridden. On both sides. It's a mess, I agree.
Both sides like to talk about the mess but won't fix the mess because apparently both sides like the mess as long as one side likes it as much as the other side.
What are we supposed to do? Not vote?
The problem is, Republicans don't accept FACTS. Evolution? Climate Change? Obama American? Pregnancies occur as a result of rape? According to the Republicans, the answer to these questions is NO.

The good news is, as long as they are determined to dispute facts, they will be forever known as, according to Bobby Jindal, "the stupid party". And "the stupid party" has no future in American politics. So you just keep going with your asinine excuses for what your party has become....deny, deny, deny. Your skewed polls, your un-ending conspiracy theories, your constant denial of facts and your twisted interpretation of policy...the "fiscal" conservative bullshit is an absolute joke. Get serious Carol.

If one counts 2000 as stolen elections then the GOP record since 1992 is just dismal. Even without that they have lost the popular vote 5 out of the last 6 presidential elections and barely squeaked by the one time they "won."

So just maybe the suppressed Democratic majority has now emerged. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Hostess is history! Another fine American business killed by a union. You libtards are destroying this country. Sure most will be rehired by the new companies but how long will that take? Friggin' unions are ruining this country.
President Obama's first priority was meeting with union thugs...before meeting with CEOs in the private sector...to thank them for getting him elected again.

He loves his unions. Didn't he say something to the effect that he lives and breathes the SEIU in 2008?

It's really pathetic to be trashing a women that has survived cancer and has MS simple because she is married to the man that ran against the president. How shallow of you. I bet you have a fit when people trash Michelle Obama don't you? Ann Romney has more integrity than you could ever hope to have. To trash her and make fun of her, especially now after the election, is really not the best show of those that voted for Obama. Some of those that voted for Obama would have the intregrity to tell you what a apsolute dumbass you are. You really come off as jealous and shallow, and very pathetic.

a) A constitutional amendment that fixes our broken electoral system by 1) completely removing campaign contributions from the political process; 2) requiring all elections to be publicly financed; 3) moving election day to the weekend to increase voter turnout; 4) making all Americans registered voters at the moment of their birth; 5) banning computerized voting and requiring that all elections take place on paper ballots.
b) A constitutional amendment declaring that corporations are not people and do not have the constitutional rights of citizens. This amendment should also state that the interests of the general public and society must always come before the interests of corporations.
c) A constitutional amendment that will act as a "second bill of rights" as proposed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt: that every American has a human right to employment, to health care, to a free and full education, to breathe clean air, drink clean water and eat safe food, and to be cared for with dignity and respect in their old age.
Excellent!

I had truly hoped that the President would have pushed for the public option, open up Medicare for all rather than this complicated bill that was a compromise.
I hope that eventually it will become universal healthcare for all paid through taxation and not attached to employment. It's the simplest and fairest way.

If you look at the size of the union in their membership & financial responsibility, union heads do not make a high salary compared to other organizations of that similar size.

I didn't call them evil.

However, when we have CEOs making tens of millions while pushing employees to take pay cuts just to improve the bottom line, then yes, they are evil.

Hostess Brands Inc., the maker of iconic treats such as Twinkies and traditional pantry staple Wonder Bread, said Friday it is shuttering its plants and will seek to liquidate the 82-year-old business.

The company, which filed for Chapter 11 in January, said it has requested bankruptcy-court authorization to close the business and sell its assets.

A victim of changing consumer tastes, high commodity costs and, most importantly, strained labor relations, Hostess ultimately was brought to its knees by a national strike orchestrated by its second-largest union.

The work stoppage, launched Nov. 9 by the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Union to protest a fresh labor contract, affected about two-thirds of Hostess's 36 plants.

Bankruptcy in January, strike in November. Somehow directly related?

Yeah, if you thought Fox News was going to calm the fuck down even for a little while ó man, did you back the wrong horse. Whatís interesting, though, is that for Ailes and Fox News, the decision to continue throwing gasoline on the fires of white fury is strictly a business one.

There was, again, a lot of hemming and hawing last week about how conservative media did such a disservice to its audience by reinforcing the epistemic information bubble most of it lives in in the lead-up to the election. But thereís money in blowing that bubble up once again, this time potentially even bigger and stronger, and thatís got to be the primary consideration. Fox News has never been more powerful than when itís the blaring voice of opposition. The last four years have been a boon to it and I doubt the next four will be any different.

The problem for Republicans seeking reelection or higher office in the near future is that Fox News has a much larger audience and wields much greater power over the conversation than any single conservative politician. And if anyone on the right side of the aisle is going to issue a memo on how to cover a situation, itíll be Fox delivering the orders.

It only took one week for New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to be demoted from future king of the GOP to someone you donít want to be caught associating with because he had the audacity to cooperate with the Obama administration following one of the worst disasters New Jersey has ever seen.

If Fox News continues to select candidates for the Republican party, the party will never change. Thereís too much money to be made in maintaining the status quo.

You are just as pathetic as "brown eyes". I too have criticized Michelle Obama, but I do so based on actual policy issues and her outragious spending while the country is in the economic disaster it is in, along with the amount of millions of unemployed American's.

To just criticize on appearance like you are doing Michelle Obama or make fun of someone that if she was in the opposite party she would be hailed as an example of what a strong, intelligent, wonderful parent and spokesperson she is as is the case with Ann Romney is a perfect example of true shallow moron you are.

Liberals get hysterical thinking evolution is a scientific fact instead of a theory and that climate change is something new to this century. One of Obama's publishers wrote in his bio that he was born in Kenya.

These are facts.
