Liberals and conservatives alike want security and peace of mind. Liberal scare tactics aside, no one wants to take away medicare and social security. You paid into the system so you deserve to take back from the system, after all it is your own money being returned. Inflation and cost of food is a bit different, but a hearty economy fueled by job growth is the best medicine. Perhaps you believe Obama was the best choice for this issue, I do not. Business in america has no confidence in Obama and his policies concerning regulation inhibit job growth.<quoted text>
Well than, by that definition, my family and I are probably not true liberals. But just the same, I fear losing SS or medicare, and because I put into it all of these years, I feel "entitled". I am nervous about the future. I see how people have become so greedy, resentful and hateful concerning others. I know that probably is because there are so many more people in the world, putting a great demand on resources. My spouse and I were cautious and saved whatever we could, yet with high medical costs and insurance premiums, increasing food costs, it is making me feel all the more insecure. I'm not poor, but certainly far from being rich. I still believe that all people should have access to affordable healthcare, though. I never liked seeing anyone suffer. It's not in my character.
BTW, I agree with you on all your points and feel very much the same way. No one should starve and no one should freeze in the streets. No one should be denied essential medical care.
