Greece didn't stay the same and California is following in its footsteps. You know, as in how Cali goes, so goes the rest of the country.

How has Texas succeeded in producing a pro-business, pro-growth environment, versus a state like California, which has done just the opposite?

A little story illustrates:

The governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks the governor's dog, then bites the governor. The governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie Bambi and then realizes he should stop because the coyote is only doing what is natural.

He calls animal control. Animal control captures the coyote and bills the state $200 for testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it. He calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dead dog and bills the state $200 for testing it for diseases. The governor goes to the hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and getting his bite wound bandaged.

The running trail gets shut down for six months while the California Fish and Game Department conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals. The governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a 'coyote awareness program' for residents of the area. The Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world.

The governor's security agent is fired for not stopping the attack. The state spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional special training, re: the nature of coyotes. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) protests the coyote's relocation and files a $5 million suit against the state.

The governor of Texas is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and tries to attack him and his dog. The governor shoots the coyote with his state-issued pistol and keeps jogging.

The governor spent 50 cents on a .380-caliber, hollow-point cartridge. Buzzards ate the dead coyote.

And that, my friends, is why California is broke and Texas is not.

Just thought this was interesting. Not that it's going to go anywhere, but wouldn't it be funny if 15 or 20 other states participated - even if it's just symbolic?

That'd be more than half the country.

sounds like a dream:

Texas tied with Mississippi for states having the highest percentage of hourly paid workers earning the minimum wage or less in 2010.
Some 550,000 Texans, or 9.5 percent of hourly paid workers, made the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour or less last year. That's up 76,000 workers, or 16 percent, from 2009, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Monday.

"

So we have at least 2 instances of juvenile business owners venting their rage at Obama's re-election by letting employees go--apparently without regard to the political leanings of those employees--most notably, asshole coal baron Bob Murray. We know of several other business owners who either threatened to do so prior to the election or who are threatening to do so now. Papa John's plans to cut hours as part of John Schnatter's post-election tantrum.

Right wing babies on blogs and Twitter are actually screaming for more revenge layoffs, though most of them appear to want these business owners to somehow single out democratic employees for punishment. My question is below the fold.

Will ANYONE not see this for what it is? It's obvious these people are trying to make a statement by unnecessarily hurting people who can do nothing about it. They will, of course, claim Obamacare forced their hands which is complete nonsense.

By all rights, this should backfire on the GOP. Obama is popular, the ACA is popular. The motives are in plain sight and most regular people absolutely cringe at the image of rich sociopaths taking out their anger on their employees.

However, it WON'T hurt the GOP if the media covers these actions in their usual "Fair and Balanced" way, giving GOP talking heads the chance to rail against the supposed destructive costs of Obamacare to "small businesses". We need to hold the media responsible for how they cover this. We need to hang this right wing sociopathy and revenge around the necks of republicans--making them explain why this is OK, why companies that are making huge profits are hurting their employees, and push them to denounce this practice. Make them denounce the teabaggers who are cheering the revenge layoffs. If they can't do it, they need to pay the price in public perception. This is so ugly and obvious it should be a slam dunk for democrats just like "47%" was."

"Dear Red States:

We're ticked off at your Neanderthal attitudes and politics and we've
decided we're leaving.

We in New York intend to form our own country and we're taking the other
Blue States with us.

In case you aren't aware, that includes California, Hawaii, Oregon,
Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and the rest of the
Northeast.

We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation and especially to the
people of the new country of The Enlightened States of America (E.S.A).

To sum up briefly:

You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states.

We get stem cell research and the best beaches.

We get Andrew Cuomo and Elizabeth Warren. You get Bobby Jindal and Todd Akin.

We get the Statue of Liberty. You get OpryLand.

We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.

We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss.

We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs.

You get Alabama.

We get two-thirds of the tax revenue. You get to make the red states pay
their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian
Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single
moms.

With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80% of the
country's fresh water, more than 90% of the pineapple and lettuce, 92% of
the nation's fresh fruit, 95% of America's quality wines (you can serve
French wines at state dinners) 90% of all cheese, 90 percent of the high
tech industry, most of the US low sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias
and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools plus Harvard, Yale,
Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States you will have to cope with 88% of all obese Americans
and their projected health care costs, 92% of all US mosquitoes, nearly 100%
of the tornadoes, 90% of the hurricanes, 99% of all Southern Baptists,
virtually 100% of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University,
Clemson and the University of Georgia.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

38% of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a
whale, 62% believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty
or gun laws, 44% say that evolution is only a theory, 53% that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and 61% of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher morals then we "Blues".

And for those blues so inclined, we're taking the good weed too. You can have that crap they grow in Mexico."

Multiple CRS studies have shown that raising taxes on the wealthy will have no effect on job growth. Even conservative pundit William Kristol has stated that the GOP shouldn't "fall on their swords" for millionairs.
Empty head, let me shine some light on your empty head!

Today 2012, you want millionaire to pay more to solve fiscal our problem, right?

If you get what you want will that solve the problem?

Until when? 2016? 2020? Eternity?

If every millionaire pays 100% of their money in taxes Liberals will STILL comeback in 2016 for more money after wasting all the money in free money to lazy welfare recipients and food stamps!

Several years from now you will be back claiming the rich most again pay their "fair" share again!

See?

Several years ago they asked for more money from the rich I got it!!!

Why they come back for more?

When will they stop?

Removing money from the private sector leaves less money for job growth investment.

The KKK was founded by those from the Southern States.

I know how the right likes to blame Democrats for the Klan but it was a regional thing.

Today, the Klan is considered fart right, not left.
