With the reelection of President Barack Obama, Florida’s Republican leaders are reconsidering their fervent opposition to federal healthcare reform, triggering a discussion that could have huge repercussions for South Florida.

At stake is more than $6 billion in federal funding for Miami-Dade and Broward over the next decade and the possibility of health insurance for a large percentage of the 1.4 million people in the two counties who now lack coverage.

The decades-long campaign by conservatives to build a lasting majority on the U.S. Supreme Court may come to an end over the next four years, now that President Obama has been reelected to the White House.

While it is possible all five of the conservative-leaning Supreme Court justices will try to hold onto their seats until the end of the Obama presidency, death and the siren call of a well-funded pension plan may pull one or more of them off of the bench. That would give Obama the opportunity
to swap in a left-leaning justice who could prevent Chief Justice John Roberts from obtaining a majority in the cases that divide conservatives and liberals — abortion, affirmative action and employee and property rights.

The justice who is most likely to leave the court during the second Obama presidency is Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a liberal who at age 79 is birdlike and frail, but hardly slacking off from her prodigious work habits. More worrisome to conservatives is Justice Antonin Scalia, tied with Justice Clarence Thomas as the most conservative judge on the high court (and a self-described “best buddy” with Ginsburg) who at 76 has discussed retirement recently with various reporters.

An Ohio bill aimed at restricting abortion access will get another shot in the legislature this upcoming lame duck session, reported the Community Press and Recorder, thanks to new cooperation among anti-abortion rights groups.
Called the heartbeat bill, it would ban abortions after a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which can be as early as six weeks, when some women are not yet aware they are pregnant.

Damn. They just DON'T get it. Abortion should be as convenient as a mani-pedi or a drive by shooting. The car pulls up, no matter how far along the woman is she spreads her legs and O'BAM, problem solved. And all this covered by ObamaCare. It doesn't get any better than that unless the fetus can be lasered without actually getting into the car.

Many people believe that Obama will continue to destroy Medicare for seniors, who voted heavily for Romney, realizing that Obama was going to continue devastating Medicare for them, while leaving relatively nothing for their grandchildren, who were stupid enough to support Obama in the hopes that he would help them with tuition, while bankrupting them for the future.

"What those authors fail to note is that while steel melts at around 1,370°C (2500°F) it begins to lose its strength at a much lower temperature. The steel structure of the World Trade Center would not have to melt in order for the buildings to lose their structural integrity. Steel can be soft at 538°C (1,000°F) well below the burning temperature of jet fuel."

Dude, if the above were true, the WTC7 would not be the only building in history to have pancaked like that after an office fire - or even several of them. If you don't want to believe your government had a hand in facilitating 9/11, but are perfectly willing to believe the tripe the same governmentt feeds you as 'explanation' for it, I can't help you.

OUR REPUBLIC
APRES ELECTION
Exclusive: Ben Kinchlow asks what citizens will do about 'taxation without representation'

The election is over. The president and members of Congress have been chosen. Now what?

Traditionally, the post-election period has been a time when we the bosses sit back and let the politicians get to work. As the refrain goes,“We have done our part; we elected them, now it’s up to them.” Apparently, the feeling is, and has been, now that they are elected we simply turn the government over to them. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is a fundamental question that must be answered: Why did we elect them?
...
The campaigns (clean or dirty, efficient or not) are history. The billions have been spent; the president (and your representatives) are congratulating each other and their staffs. We the People have “done our part.” We voted them in, and now? Now, it is up to us to ensure they are representing us (the House of Representatives, remember?), carrying out our desires and not overstepping their boundaries.

Just one more example:

No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time.”(Article 1, The Legislative Branch Section 9, Limits on Congress; emphasis added)

When is the last time you saw an “expenditures of all public monies … published”?

Let’s make this perfectly clear: There is no such thing as “government money.”

All the monies Washington spends are public money – our money.

The president and Congress are spending, lending, giving away our money – which they take from us via taxation.
