The fury of wingnuts scorned

I'm becoming more convinced than ever that Tuesday and Wednesday will bring the biggest meltdown since Fukushima. Losing an election is usually disappointing, sometimes maddening -- but with modern polling, very often the side that loses at least had some awareness that defeat was coming. This time, based on what I'm seeing on the right-wing sites I read semi-regularly (Hot Air, RedState, and Race42012), there is almost no such awareness in advance. Republicans seem convinced that they're going to win.

How sure am I that they're wrong? Well, nothing is certain, but most of the polls show Obama ahead in most of the swing states. As of this morning Nate Silver puts Obama's chance of winning at 83.7%. Polls of the Senate races suggest that our majority will actually increase. Yes, defeat is still possible, but a lot of very surprising things would have to happen to bring it about.

But the right-wingers don't see it that way. They think the polls are all wrong because high levels of Democratic party ID reveal some nefarious "skewing". They think there's still a huge enthusiasm gap in their favor. They point to Romney's lead among independents. They think voters will turn against Obama because he mishandled the Benghazi attack (most of the alleged mishandling has been debunked, but that doesn't penetrate the sealed Drudge / Fox / Limbaugh / etc. fake-media bubble). They think the public is finally realizing that Obama is Muslim, communist, stupid, anti-American, gay, Kenyan, or some combination of those

In fact, if the actual result deviates from the consensus of polls, it's more likely to be in our favor. A lot of polls don't include cell phones, and people who have only cell phones and no land lines are disproportionately young, black, and Hispanic -- groups that lean strongly Democratic. There's evidence that polls systematically under-sample Hispanics in the Southwest, thus under-estimating Democratic support (Reid won his 2010 Nevada race by six points when polls showed him losing)-- so our party should do better than expected in Nevada and Colorado, and even Arizona may bring some surprises. There could be an Obama / Senate landslide (in fact, with polls showing Florida back in play, an Obama Electoral-College landslide is possible even without those factors).

I've seen quite a few right-wingers salivating in anticipation of visiting liberal blogs and sites on November 7th to gloat. They expect to see Nate Silver, most pollsters, and all the other actual experts who are predicting a Democratic win, become utterly discredited and disappear -- vindicating the wingnut fake alternate reality which they and their "media" have cobbled together around themselves.

They're in for a terrible, harsh, cold shock, and many of them aren't going to take it well. Some of them are going to be enraged. Some will be looking for someone or something to vent their fury at.

On Wednesday, watch your back.

Former CNN Bureau Chief Frank Sesno: Coverage of Benghazi "Raises Questions About Where Fox Comes From Journalistically"

Finally. Somebody with at least some modicum of “journalistic integrity” and gravitas has stood up to Fox News and right-wing radio’s constant barrage of propaganda and outright lies regarding the role of the State Department and President Obama’s administration in the September 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

Geraldo Rivera has publicly condemned fellow “journalist” and anchor Eric Bolling and the whole Fox News apparatus for instigating and promoting what Rivera has labeled as "an obscene lie...an absolute misrepresentation." The video fronting this article makes it clear. Rivera looks Bolling in the face, and to his face, says that what Bolling is propagating, pushing, promoting, supporting....says of Bolling himself...."that's a lie!"

Rivera makes it plain. He says that Fox’s sole objective is to make "a political point" in an effort to discredit the president rather than to discover any so-called hidden truth or cover-up over the attack on a U.S. Consulate in Libya and the resultant killings of the ambassador and three other Americans attached to the consulate.

Bolling has spearheaded Fox’s criticism of the Obama administration for, he says, ignoring calls for help by the Americans. "So Washington, the State Department, the CIA, does nothing, sends no help," he alleges.

Rivera immediately practically jumped off the infamous Fox News couch in calling Bolling a "politician" who was "misleading the American people."

Rivera told Bolling and the world that, according to his talks with high level military and State Department leaders, an American task force from Tripoli was immediately dispatched to Benghazi.

.... Again, to re-state the obvious, Fox News is the propaganda arm of the Republican Party. So is 90 percent of AM radio. The American right-wing ideologues generally and so-called “conservatives’ have been searching high and low for something….anything…any hint of scandal in Obama’s political, professional or personal life. They all thought they had it here, a “smoking gun,” a Watergate-type incident with which to not merely embarrass Obama, but, which like Watergate, force his impeachment and/or resignation, or at least cost him re-election on Tuesday.

They have been hammering away at this “non-issue” since the day it happened. They have had relatives of the slain Americans accuse the president of being a “murderer.” They have accused the president of jetting off to Las Vegas to gamble while this whole thing was going on.

None of which has proven to be true.

And as Geraldo Rivera has so aptly, passionately pointed out, sorry, there simply is no “there” there.

I can tell you didn't hear The Balkans and 500 yrs slavery under Ottoman Turks/ muslim and what muslims did to Christians...any clues?????

Do you know that Turks use to come to every village every year and take all little boys and take them to Turkey and raised them and trained them for their own soldiers and send them back to kill their own families and their own people. Young girls took for their harems...

What happened to St. Sofia Christian church in Turkey? Turn into mosque and later as a museum.
That's where Christianity begun. Now go find some books and study what muslims are all about.

...and don't call anyone bigot...people had reasons not to trust muslims. Ask Armenians...

Why don't you ask CNN how much do they get paid from the government to cover for them?

Ask CNN what story FOX got on Benghazi was wrong, instead were FOX come from journalisticlly? They can't say what story was incorrect? Or documents FOX got was also incorrect?

Ask the right questions, you will get your answers!

One day when everything gets on the open on Benghazi, CNN will be quite as a mouse.

CNN IS PROTECTING COVER UP...

FOX is getting their information from very reliable sources and CNN can't put lid on it to protect the government and that's the problem.

What happened to real journalism or investigative reporting. Don't exist anymore. REAL NEWS?

Only in your parallel universe.

The economy was actually doing just fine with unemployment below 5% up until the house of cards fell. We didn't see the repercussions until 2008. Now ask yourself why that happened.

It would have happened under any president.

A group of decentralized institutions within the justice system of Roman Catholic Church were guilty of forced conversions during the infamous Inquisition. Protestant Christians were considered "heretics" and became suspect as well. Christianity, however, spread throughout the centuries because of the power of the Holy Spirit to convict one person at a time to turn away from their rebellion against God. No forced conversions were necessary.

You should take that passage from the Qur'an to radical Muslims. Just don't expect to come back.

But you can walk into any Christian church anywhere in the world and feel safe and welcomed. Radical Muslims might blow you up or kill you in the Middle East, but the fact is Christians are still persecuted even today.
