New ADP Count Slashes Job Creation for September
Published: Wednesday, 31 Oct 2012 | 12:54 PM ET

Revisions to the way payroll data firm ADP counts private sector job creation have resulted in a sharp drop in the September employment count.

The firm recently has entered into a partnership with Moody's Analytics that will change the way the private payroll count is calculated.

ADP's new calculations put the monthly job creation at just 88,200, down from the 162,000 the firm originally reported earlier this month ....

When the Labor Department revealed its September job count, it sparked criticism from some quarters that the numbers were being manipulated for political purposes as the November presidential election drew near.

The soft ADP count could add credence to those who believe the pace of job creation is slower than the government's numbers indicate.

"It's huge, no doubt about it," said Todd Schoenberger, managing principal at the BlackBay Group in New York. "Their changing the methodology tells me that if the number is cut in half with that revision, then the revision we're going to see Friday is going to be a disaster."

The 7.8% Unemployment Rate is a Lie

Obama_reflects

On the campaign trail today, Obama is claiming that the economy is on the upswing because unemployment is the lowest its been since he took office.“This economy has come too far to turn back now,” he told a crowd of supporters in Virginia. What he isn’t saying is that last month the Labor Force Participation Rate–the percentage of Americans who actually have jobs–reached the worst point of his entire presidency.

Obama’s supporters are clinging to the latest jobs report like a political lifeline. The unemployment rate finally dropped below 8 percent, and that’s good for the president’s troubled campaign. But politics aside, does this actually mean that more people are working?

No, it doesn’t.

There are two ways for the unemployment rate to drop. 1.) New jobs. 2.) Unemployed people give up and stop trying to find work.

Guess which force is a bigger factor right now? Here’s a clue: the unemployment rate has dropped to 7.8%, despite the fact that the economy only added only 114,000 jobs last month (fewer than were added in each of the previous two months.)

The number of new jobs added each month is falling, yet the unemployment rate is also falling. What gives?

The Washington Post is reporting that, if you counted all the people who have simply given up looking for work since January, the unemployment rate would be 8.4% right now. That’s just adding back the folks who’ve given up looking for work this year.

If you count all the folks who’ve given up looking for work since Obama took office, the numbers are far worse. In that case the unemployment number would be close to 11%.

The economy isn’t looking up so much as people are giving up.

If you’re like me, you know a number of people, especially middle-aged folks, who have been looking for a job so long that they have simply lost hope and dropped out of the workforce. That’s the real reason the unemployment rate is 7.8%–a number that is still high by historical standards.

The 7.8% figure may be technically true, but held up as evidence of a rapidly improving economy, it’s a big lie.

Bottom line: the labor force participation rate is a much more informative number for measuring the state of the economy because it measures what percentage of Americans are actually working, and doesn’t ignore those who’ve simply given up hope of finding a job.

The current labor force participation rate is near historic lows. That may not be the message Obama and his supporters want to hear, but that’s reality.

Using the falling unemployment rate to boost his case for re-election is understandable, even if it isn’t entirely genuine. But Obama must be careful not to tout the positive numbers too loudly, lest he appear insensitive to the plight of millions of voters who are still struggling to make ends meet.

When Americans give up looking for work, it may make the unemployment rate look better; but it won’t turn this economy around. It’ll take jobs to do that.

The Unemployment Rate of 7.8% is a Lie
October 5, 2012 10:03 am Roy Ryder

Obama’s Labor Department announced today that the unemployment rate fell to 7.8%, a full 0.2% below the 8% that has hung around Obama’s neck like a millstone. It’s amazing that after 43 months of craptacular unemployment, just before the election it should drop into the “shitty but better” range, as opposed to the “simply shitty” range we’ve been in for so long.

Yeah, amazing because it’s crap.

The household survey, the part that is used to calculate the unemployment rate, isn’t based on real numbers. It’s mostly an educated guess by the Labor Department (Obama’s Labor Department). Real numbers would be something like official payroll numbers, but those take a long time to collect and the household survey has been used for a long time, so everyone kind of figures that in.

Unless you screw around with how you calculate the household survey. Based on today’s report, the household survey numbers are the best since 1983. You tell me if that feels right.

The reason we’re now at 7.8% is because OBAMA’S Labor Department decided that they needed to increase the number of people employed by THE GOVERNMENT over the previous two months.

Labor Secretary Linda Solis:“Hey! Surprise! We found a whole shit-load of people we didn’t know were employed! They were just in the back and the new guy forgot to count them.”

They have also decided that part-time employment is just like full-time employment and so they get counted just like full-time employed people. I’ll be sure to tell my nephew that his part-time job is just like a full-time job. That will make sleeping on his mother’s couch because he can’t afford an apartment so much easier.

Simply put, Obama is so desperate to win that he’s outright manipulating data to make himself look better.

What a dirtbag.

"Exclusive: Classified cable warned consulate couldn't withstand 'coordinated attack'"

"The U.S. Mission in Benghazi convened an “emergency meeting” less than a month before the assault that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans, because Al Qaeda had training camps in Benghazi and the consulate could not defend against a “coordinated attack,” according to a classified cable reviewed by Fox News.

Summarizing an Aug. 15 emergency meeting convened by the U.S. Mission in Benghazi, the Aug. 16 cable marked “SECRET” said that the State Department’s senior security officer, also known as the RSO, did not believe the consulate could be protected.

“RSO (Regional Security Officer) expressed concerns with the ability to defend Post in the event of a coordinated attack due to limited manpower, security measures, weapons capabilities, host nation support, and the overall size of the compound,” the cable said.

According to a review of the cable addressed to the Office of the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the Emergency Action Committee was also briefed "on the location of approximately ten Islamist militias and AQ training camps within Benghazi … these groups ran the spectrum from Islamist militias, such as the QRF Brigade and Ansar al-Sharia, to ‘Takfirist thugs.’” Each U.S. mission has a so-called Emergency Action Committee that is responsible for security measures and emergency planning.

The details in the cable seemed to foreshadow the deadly Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. compound, which was a coordinated, commando-style assault using direct and indirect fire. Al Qaeda in North Africa and Ansar al-Sharia, both mentioned in the cable, have since been implicated in the consulate attack.

In addition to describing the security situation

negatively,” the cable said explicitly that the mission would ask for more help.“In light of the uncertain security environment, US Mission Benghazi will submit specific requests to US Embassy Tripoli for additional physical security upgrades and staffing needs by separate cover.”

As for specific threats against the U.S., the cable warned the intelligence was not clear on the issue, cautioning that the militias in Benghazi were not concerned with any significant retaliation from the Libyan government, which had apparently lost control in Benghazi. A briefer explained that they “did not have information suggesting that these entities were targeting Americans but did caveat that (there was not) a complete picture of their intentions yet. RSO (Regional Security Officer) noted that the Benghazi militias have become more brazen in their actions and have little fear of reprisal from the (government of Libya.)”

While the administration’s public statements have suggested that the attack came without warning, the Aug. 16 cable seems to undercut those claims. It was a direct warning to the State Department that the Benghazi consulate was vulnerable to attack, that it could not be defended and that the presence of anti-U.S. militias and Al Qaeda was well-known to the U.S. intelligence community.

In a three-page cable on Sept 11, the day Stevens and the three other Americans were killed, Stevens wrote about “growing problems with security” in Benghazi and “growing frustration” with the security forces and Libyan police. The ambassador saw both as “too weak to keep the country secure....”

Voters will be getting their last glimpse of the crucial monthly jobs data from the federal government on Friday, three days before heading to the polls to choose who will occupy the White House for the next four years.
This so-called headline jobless rate, cited most frequently despite its limitations, is expected to edge up to 7.9 percent in October, after it dropped to 7.8 percent in September from 8.1 percent in August.
"The U.S. economy remains locked on an anemic growth path into the elections and fiscal cliff,” said Benjamin Engen, a market economist for Action Economics.
That could add fuel to Romney's assertions that Obama’s policies have held back hiring during one of the slowest economic recoveries in a half century.
The pace of growth hasn’t been strong enough to spark enough hiring to bring the jobless rate down to levels normally seen four years after the end of a recession.
The sluggish pace of hiring has also been blamed on increasing uncertainty by business managers about the state of the economy next year if the next Congress and White House proceed with a large package of tax increases and spending cuts. The so-called “fiscal cliff” was intended to force Congress to commit to reining in budget deficits. But most economists warn that, unless modified or postponed, the measure will almost certainly tip the economy back into recession next year.
...NBC News, mind you, reporting that unless Congress commits to reining in budget deficits, it "will almost certainly tip the economy back into recession next year."
Let's try and recall who rejected reining in budget deficits...

"Documents Back Up Claims of Requests for Greater Security in Benghazi" Oct 19, 2012

"... The documents contain previously unreleased cables from Ambassador Stevens and his staff reflecting concerns about safety in the country.

One signed by Stevens and titled “LIBYA’S FRAGILE SECURITY DETERIORIATES AS TRIBAL RIVALRIES, POWER PLAYS AND EXTREMISM INTENSIFY,” dated June 25, 2012, assess the increase in violence.”From April to June, Libya also witnesses an increase in attacks targeting international organizations and foreign interests,” Stevens wrote, describing attacks on a United Nations official in Benghazi, International Committee for the Red Cross buildings in Benghazi and Misrata, and IED at the mission in Benghazi, and RPG fired at the British Ambassador’s convoy, and an attack on the consulate of Tunisia....

A cable signed by Stevens on the day of his murder, September 11, described a meeting with the Acting Principal Officer of the Supreme Security Council in Benghazi, commander Fawzi Younis, who “expressed growing frustration with police and security forces (who were too weak to keep the country secure)…”

One of the key conversations in the documents begins on February 11, at 5:29 pm, when Shawn Crowley, a foreign service officer at the U.S. Mission in Benghazi, writes:“Apologies for being a broken record, but beginning tomorrow Benghazi will be down to two agents…We have no drivers and new local guard contract employees have no experience driving armored vehicles…”

On February 11, 1:13 pm, Regional Security Officer of the Libyan Embassy Eric Nordstrom emails State Department officials, cc-ing then-Ambassador Gene Cretz, saying he’ll try to send personnel from the Security Support Team to Benghazi....

Fox News is the most distrusted name in news, according to a January 2011 poll from Public Policy Polling. Thirty-four percent of respondents said Fox News was their least trusted source for news. At the same time, however, 34% of respondents reported that they trust Fox News the most. The network also saw its trust levels increase by three points since 2011. The results coincided with political affiliation, with 68% of Republicans choosing Fox News as their most trusted source. Democrats were split almost evenly between PBS, CNN and ABC.

It appears that Republicans really do tend to trust only Fox, while Democrats tend to trust other networks pretty evenly. That explains a lot. There’s nothing like an open mind to understand that global warming data are real, that creationism is not fact-based, that continuing tax advantages for the richest among us will not help the middle class, that trickle-down has never in fact worked, President Obama was born an American and not a Kenyan, that President Obama is neither a communist nor a Muslim, that Presient Obama’s presidency has not been a failure, etc., etc., regardless of the vile fictional constructions that Fox feeds it faithful and obedient every moment of every day. Mightier and mellower Fox News
Most trusted, least trusted, most watched: It's now the one-stop source for ultraconservatives, and is dipping into the mainstream.
October 22, 2012

In a survey conducted by North Carolina's Public Policy Polling this year, Fox News Channel earned the paradoxical distinction of being America's most trusted news source and its least trusted news source.

Nielsen data would give Fox a clearer, indisputable title: most watched.

More than 11 million viewers watched last week's second presidential debate from Hofstra University on Fox anchored by Megyn Kelly and Bret Baier. That's more than the audiences for Fox's cable competitors CNN and MSNBC combined.

These numbers aren't just significant. They're seismic. How did Fox News Channel go from a niche player at its founding 16 years ago to being a dominant TV force?

Many media analysts see purity of message as the key to FNC's rise.

But as the channel's ratings continue to mushroom - during this election cycle according to Nielsen it is averaging 65 percent more viewers than CNN and 58 percent more than MSNBC - it's clear Fox is gaining a measure of mainstream appeal.

*you do realize that Tides Company and George Soros have tried to get people not to watch Fox. That is why all you libs use your script to discredit Fox. You are working free of charge for Soros.
