Barack Obama for Re-Election

The economy is slowly recovering from the 2008 meltdown, and the country could suffer another recession if the wrong policies take hold. The United States is embroiled in unstable regions that could easily explode into full-blown disaster. An ideological assault from the right has started to undermine the vital health reform law passed in 2010. Those forces are eroding women’s access to health care, and their right to control their lives. Nearly 50 years after passage of the Civil Rights Act, all Americans’ rights are cheapened by the right wing’s determination to deny marriage benefits to a selected group of us. Astonishingly, even the very right to vote is being challenged.

That is the context for the Nov. 6 election, and as stark as it is, the choice is just as clear.

The FiveThirtyEight forecast model has found the past several days of battleground state polling to be reasonably strong for Barack Obama, with his chances of winning the Electoral College increasing as a result. The intuition behind this ought to be very simple: Mr. Obama is maintaining leads in the polls in Ohio and other states that are sufficient for him to win 270 electoral votes.

http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/

Let's not forget that Nate Silver correctly called 49 states in 2008.

So we get this.....

Republicans Desperate to Spin Romney as the Front-Runner Are Becoming 'Nate Silver Truthers'

What do you do when reality doesn't look good for your team? Republicans just create their own alternate reality.

A significant problem for conservatives bent on spinning this alternate reality is New York Times ' polling guru Nate Silver and his 538 forecast model, which called 49 out of 50 states accurately in 2008 and is considered the industry's gold standard (the model also pretty much nailed the 2010 mid-terms). As I write, Silver's model gives Barack Obama a 68 percent chance of winning reelection, with a projected 288 Electoral College votes.

As one might expect in such circumstances, Silver is now becoming a target of the Right. We've seen 'poll truthers' who think all the big pollsters are intentionally skewing their results in Obama's favor, and 'debate truthers” who insist that moderators are in the tank and the questions are rigged to make Romney look bad. Now we're seeing the emergence of 'Nate Silver truthers,' who attack the numbers-cruncher as if he's a pundit expressing a personal opinion rather than a statistics geek who developed a very robust computer model. And they're using the same tactics they deploy to deny climate change – launching ad hominem attacks on an expert -- calling him corrupt -- rather than offering a criticism of the methodology of his model, a criticism they don't have the technical knowledge to come up with.

Hey stupid! It's not Obama's policies that have failed it's the radical right in the GOP that are blocking any kind of legislation that would put people to work and improve the economy. The worst part is that they're doing it on purpose. A prime example is the American Jobs Act which according to several non partisan sources would have had a positive effect on both jobs and the economy;
–Moody’s Analytics estimated the American Jobs Act would create 1.9 million jobs and add two percent to gross domestic product.
–The Economic Policy Institute estimated it would create 2.6 million jobs and protect an addition 1.6 million existing jobs.
–Macroeconomic Advisers predicted it would create 2.1 million jobs and boost GDP by 1.5 percent.
–Goldman Sachs estimated it would add 1.5 percent to GDP.
But the Republicans true to their blood oath to obstruct anything that could help the American people blocked it at every turn.
the only way the government can "create jobs" is to hire more government employees.....which will further depress the economy....

You might think that a major storm would equally affect both political candidates, but in fact the so-called "Frankenstorm" is a, um, perfect storm of bad news for Obama's re-election chances.

First of all, as the storm hits the East Coast this weekend, it could damp down early voting turnout in key swing states: Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. This hurts Obama way more than Romney, because more early voters are Democrats, and it could even lose Obama either of these key swing states.

Second, the storm could nix huge Obama rallies featuring Bill Clinton if it sweeps Florida or Virginia on Monday.

And weirdly, the storm itself could batter Obama's image with voters nationwide. "According to a 2007 study...bad weather generally helps Republicans - better weather, the authors say, would have won Al Gore Florida in 2000," reports the Washington Post. They cite another story showing that "voters regularly punish governments for acts of God, including droughts, floods, and shark attacks."

Via the Washington Post, NBC News, and the Huffington Post.

LOL The bastards are making excuses before the event happens! Whatever! Bammy da Ball-Less must go! LOL

Bad things come in a variety of packages. Obama is a pompous, narcissistic progressive who happens to be black. His aversion to successful white people, however, is explainable only BECAUSE he's black.

Lets see what Mitt and the Repubs have done for the American workers: Do you think four years of this shit will help America get jobs? Dumbass Repubs!!!!
.

Only a Repub can believe Romney wants jobs for America when the company that he still holds 51% of the stock in can do this to Americans.

WASHINGTON -- On Tuesday, officials from Bain Capital-owned Sensata Technologies threatened to shut down its north-central Illinois plant "immediately and indefinitely" if those protesting the offshoring of the facility's jobs entered the plant in an act of civil disobedience again, according to local city officials.
The plant in Freeport, Ill., which is already scheduled to close at the end of the year, has become an embarrassing campaign issue for GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney. The factory's 170 jobs are being relocated to China. Activists and workers have called on Romney to use his influence with Bain to halt the offshoring.
.
Washington (CNN)-- Senate Republicans on Thursday blocked the No.1 item on the president's congressional "to-do-list," refusing to allow a vote on a bill that would give tax breaks for companies that "insource" jobs to the U.S. from overseas while eliminating tax deductions for companies that move jobs abroad.

White House considers idea of new tax cut
Sunday, October 28, 2012
Philadelphia Inquirer ^| October 28, 2012 | By Zachary A. Goldfarb

The White House is weighing the idea of a tax cut that it believes would lift Americans' take-home pay and boost a still-struggling economy, according to people familiar with the administration's thinking. Obama administration officials have concluded that the economy, while improved, is still fragile enough that it may need another bout of stimulus.

Well..there's a story brewing that the general and admiral in the "chain of command" were relieved of duty presumably for refusing to stand down. This would be huge.

Has General Ham Been Fired?
Mike Johnson

Has General Carter F. Ham, commander of U.S. Africa Command, been fired for defying Leon Panetta on Benghazi?

Glenn Reynolds, the Instapundit, ran a piece Saturday afternoon titled "Interesting Rumor Concerning General Carter Ham and Stand Down Order." This piece is presented as a rumor. It suggests that General Ham was told to stand down from sending aid to Benghazi, that General Ham on his own decided to proceed, and that he was then relieved of his command.
