In case you weren't paying attention, here's what really happened in Congress with the obviously failed CRA and how the Democrat program collapsed our economy:
Here's the link to read the Democrats negotiating for no effective oversight of the Democrats' idiotic subprime housing mortgage underwriting program that collapsed our economy. In the article you also see the Director of OFHEO citing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for cooking the books to hide the massive CRA failures that were a known threat to our economy as early as 2003.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1222905743912 ...
Now, let's look at a time line. After the Republicans gave to the Democrats what they wanted, no effective oversight of the Democrat program that collapsed our economy, the Democrats supported the Iraq operation. That's when they were for the Iraq front before they were against it.
Barney Frank doing... how did you put it?
"...lessen the housing GSEs' commitment to low-income homebuyers."
Wow. What bullshit. Let's get a real Barney Frank quote on the subject:
Barney Frank - " I do think I do not want the same kind of focus on safety and soundness that we have in OCC [Office of the Comptroller of the Currency] and OTS [Office of Thrift Supervision]. I want to roll the dice a little bit more in this situation towards subsidized housing."
That kind of blows a hole through the keel of your bullshit, doesn't it?
it is amazing how often you have to try to educate people about what really happened. I can understand with the population who don't or rarely pay attention and carelessly buy the MSM/Obama soundbite that Obama inherited a bad economy BECAUSE of Bush.(as IF that is an excuse for Obama's failures) and i don't mind informing somone who makes such dull inaccurate statement, about the CRA, Barney, James Johnson and how any attempts by Bush and then McCain to examine the problems at Fannie and Freddie were countered by accusations of racism.

but, i don't get why it needs to be re-posted here at least once a day to try to inform those who have read it before, unless their reason is they don't want to open their eyes past hating Bush and worshipping The One.

LOL "it doesn't happen"

Hey, at least Al Franken will agree with you.

"Franken and his Democratic allies dispatched an army of lawyers to challenge the results. After the first canvass, Coleman's lead was down to 206 votes. That was followed by months of wrangling and litigation. In the end, Franken was declared the winner by 312 votes. He was sworn into office in July 2009, eight months after the election."

Absolutely, and why doesn't anyone talk about Halliburton selling nuclear material to Iran? Dick Cheney the outlaw got away with everything, shooting someone in the face, dealing with the axis of evil?

Like it mattered who was president...
Interesting.

By Real Dave's logic the 9/11 attacks were due to the fact Bush was president.

Then by the same logic the original attack (truck bomb at world trade center) was the fault of Clinton since he was president when the attack occured on Feb 26, 1993.

Amazing just how stupid hard core left wing and hard core right wing folks are. It does not matter which one they both have blinders on.

They state something as fact but when it is pointed out that that same logic (regardless of how twisted it is) applies to their party or canidate then it is probably no longer valid.

Bottom line is the middle east (most of them) hate us regardless of who is in charge.

Both parties suck and are owned by Wall Street and big money. This election is about selection of the least evil of two bad candidates.

It is sad it has come to this.

posting this again.

All you right whiners want a surplus & fiscal responsibility.

We had it!!!!!

Then Bush took office in 2001.

In June 2012, CBO summarized the cause of change between its January 2001 estimate of a $5.6 trillion cumulative surplus between 2002 and 2011 and the actual $6.1 trillion cumulative deficit that occurred, an unfavorable "turnaround" or debt increase of $11.7 trillion. Tax cuts and slower-than-expected growth reduced revenues by $6.1 trillion and spending was $5.6 trillion higher. Of this total, the CBO attributes 72% to legislated tax cuts and spending increases and 27% to economic and technical factors. Of the latter, 56% occurred from 2009 to 2011.[38][39]
The difference between the projected and actual debt in 2011 can be largely attributed to:
$3.5 trillion Economic changes (including lower than expected tax revenues and higher safety net spending due to recession)
$1.6 trillion Bush Tax Cuts (EGTRRA and JGTRRA), primarily tax cuts but also some smaller spending increases
$1.5 trillion - Increased non-defense discretionary spending
$1.4 trillion Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq
$1.4 trillion - Incremental interest due to higher debt balances
$0.9 trillion - Obama stimulus and tax cuts (ARRA and Tax Act of 2010)[40]
The U.S. budget situation has deteriorated significantly since 2001, when the CBO forecast average annual surpluses of approximately $850 billion from 20092012. The average deficit forecast in each of those years as of June 2009 was approximately $1,215 billion. The New York Times analyzed this roughly $2 trillion "swing", separating the causes into four major categories along with their share:
Recessions or the business cycle (37%);
Policies enacted by President Bush (33%);
Policies enacted by President Bush and supported or extended by President Obama (20%); and
New policies from President Obama (10%).
Several other articles and experts explained the causes of change in the debt position.

So there Tea Party members. We had what you wanted.

Look who took us off that path.

Paul Ryan, voting yes yes yes.

Republicans did this.
