Guess Realtime went back to bed. No comment about BLS statistics.

Or he must think the U-6 unemployment rate is just about right at over 14%.

I was hoping he might have something else to say.

Posting this again.

All you right whiners want a surplus & fiscal responsibility.

We had it!!!!!

Then Bush took office in 2001.

In June 2012, CBO summarized the cause of change between its January 2001 estimate of a $5.6 trillion cumulative surplus between 2002 and 2011 and the actual $6.1 trillion cumulative deficit that occurred, an unfavorable "turnaround" or debt increase of $11.7 trillion. Tax cuts and slower-than-expected growth reduced revenues by $6.1 trillion and spending was $5.6 trillion higher. Of this total, the CBO attributes 72% to legislated tax cuts and spending increases and 27% to economic and technical factors. Of the latter, 56% occurred from 2009 to 2011.[38][39]
The difference between the projected and actual debt in 2011 can be largely attributed to:
$3.5 trillion – Economic changes (including lower than expected tax revenues and higher safety net spending due to recession)
$1.6 trillion – Bush Tax Cuts (EGTRRA and JGTRRA), primarily tax cuts but also some smaller spending increases
$1.5 trillion - Increased non-defense discretionary spending
$1.4 trillion – Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq
$1.4 trillion - Incremental interest due to higher debt balances
$0.9 trillion - Obama stimulus and tax cuts (ARRA and Tax Act of 2010)[40]
The U.S. budget situation has deteriorated significantly since 2001, when the CBO forecast average annual surpluses of approximately $850 billion from 2009–2012. The average deficit forecast in each of those years as of June 2009 was approximately $1,215 billion. The New York Times analyzed this roughly $2 trillion "swing", separating the causes into four major categories along with their share:
Recessions or the business cycle (37%);
Policies enacted by President Bush (33%);
Policies enacted by President Bush and supported or extended by President Obama (20%); and
New policies from President Obama (10%).
Several other articles and experts explained the causes of change in the debt position.

So there Tea Party members. We had what ou wanted.

Look who took us ff that path.

Paul Ryan, voting yes yes yes.

Republicans did this.

Why is John Galt?

The rational self-interest in turning the conservative movement into a cash cow

To Rand, appreciation of artistic works is a rational process related to the ideas conveyed therein. The Ayn Rand cult, during its early days, took this godless Thomism to extremes, blacklisting certain books and proscribing Rand-disapproved music. An Objectivist is supposed to approve or disapprove of things precisely because of the ideas conveyed.

The problem is that they’re bad ideas, and bad ideas wrapped up in a cult of personality. Rand wrongly castigated libertarians for plagiarizing her ideas, but it was really the other way around. She turned a political philosophy into a easily-sold comprehensive philosophy based on simplified moral precepts. It’s a common technique among hucksters, to bundle unoriginal or unappealing thinking beneath a complete, marketable View of the World. In that she has more in common with L. Ron Hubbard or Edgar Cayce than Aristotle.

But all of this would be relegated to the universe of eccentrics and eccentrics funding eccentrics were it not for the fact that the primary marketing vehicle for the film is the conservative movement. Groups like Americans for Prosperity are holding screenings, and Sean Hannity and other Fox contributors have been tweeting their excitement about cameo appearances. Atlas Society founder David Kelley, who provided advice on the script, has made himself available for interviews.

So are the movie’s creators and institutional boosters simply mounting a good-faith defense of capitalism via the conservative movement? Or are they exploiting a politically active, underserved, media-aggrieved demographic to elevate their own profiles and make a buck? Objectively speaking, which would Rand prefer?

The U6 basically mirrors the Unemployment rate. It was 14% when Bush left office.

Bush's recession drove that rate to over 17%.

Romney Will Be a “Replay of the Bush Administration”

The L.A. Times reports on the latest official Russian reaction to Romney:

“We don’t think that for us Romney will be an easy partner,” said Pushkov, an ally of President Vladimir Putin.“We think that Romney will be, on the rhetorical side, a replay of the Bush administration.”

He also noted Romney’s statements that the United States should assert its dominance in the 21st century.

“If he is serious about this, I’m afraid he may choose the neocon-type people…In the first year of his presidency, we may have a full-scale crisis,” he said.

Obviously, the Russians have their own reasons for saying this. It’s understandable that they would not be pleased by the prospect of the election of the most rhetorically anti-Russian candidate since the end of the Cold War. Then again, why should Americans be any more pleased? Pushkov might be exaggerating for effect, but he might not. As a matter of fact, Romney has given every indication that his foreign policy is supposed to be a “replay of the Bush administration.” This is a natural conclusion that anyone should reach after reviewing a list of his positions, statements, and advisers.

Notice what Pushkov isn’t saying. It gets to the heart of why Romney’s foreign policy is generally so misguided. One of the main themes of all of Romney’s foreign policy views that he will project American strength, that Obama has failed to project that strength, and that other states will respond positively to Romney when he does this. Pushkov isn’t saying,“We respect other states when they are confrontational and provocative, and we are more likely to reach agreement on disputed issues once there is someone like Romney in charge in Washington.” Other states generally don’t react well to the sort of domineering, aggressive policies that Romney has proposed. Other states that consider themselves great powers are even less likely to react well.

Because it shows just how incompetent your Community Organizer-in-Chief is. How he's more concerned with his own fundraising for re-election than the safety of our diplomats serving in the Arab Spring Hellholes he helped create. It also showed us that the village idiot he picked for his vice president thinks the murder of 4 Americans by al-Qaeda is something to giggle about. And once again, he blames others for his incompetence.
I get it, Romney & Ryan gets to use 4 dead Americans as a place to spread lies for political purposes.

How pathetic is that.

5%????? Really.
The Republican Recession pushed the rate to 10.2%. What rate did they start with again?
The unemployment rate was below 5% until March 2008 and 7.8% when Obama took office. It shot up to 10% by October of that year and hovered at over 9% until just very recently.

http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000

By the way, it stayed under 5% from June 2005 until February 2008. Ironically enough, Democrats took control of Congress in January 2008. Unemployment continued to steadily rise.

If only the majority of Democrats (and some Republicans) had agreed with Bush that Fannie and Freddie was a disaster waiting to happen before it was too late...

Hey dum dum.
Your boy Obama promised America that Bush was unpatriotic for the deficits during the Bush administration. He promised he would cut that deficit in half.
The deficit was 10 Billion when Obama took office. The deifit which was supposed to be cut in half is now 16 Billion. That means Obama added 6 billion to the debt in less than 4 years.
If Bush was responsible for the entire 10 Billion (which he isn't) that debt was amased over an 8 year period of time. That means that instead of reducing the debt like he promised to do Obama is increasing the deficit at a much higher rate then Bush ever did. Since he promised to cut the 10 Billion down to 5 Billion and he aded another 6 Billion that means Obama is only about 11 Billion behind what was promised when he ran in 2008.
The only reason the debt is at 16 Billion is because the Republicans put the brake on spending when the 2010 midterm elections took place.
Obama has consistantly offered budget proposals that would have increased the current deficit at a much more rapid rate. Not even the dum dums in the Senate were dum enough to pass Obama's insanity.
When pushed, yet another right whiner resorts to racial slurs.

It is Obama who is moving American jobs to China.
He did so in the sake of "investing" in green energy jobs. Billions of green energy funds went to pay the salaries of Chinese workers making green lightbulbs. This is compounded by federal regulations with disallow the sale of anything but green lightbulbs.(he wants those chinese workers to enjoy some job security after all)
His job czar wad personally responsible for moving jobs manufacturing medical imaging equipment from the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area (where it has been for decades) to Bejing.
You do realize that the legislation hat ended the old style light bulbs was signed by Bush, right???

Of course not.

Obama didn't move anything. Corporate America did.

Because they get a tax advantage. An advantage Romney wants to increase & Obama wants to end.

More Evidence of Liberal Pussification

Des Moines Lincoln High School football coach Tom Mihalovich was recently suspended when it was decided he had violated “school bullying and corporal punishment policies” after he made a sophomore run sprints and laps for saying mean things about the varsity team. From the Des Moines Register:

US election 2012: why Mitt Romney is all talk and no substance on foreign affairs

When it comes the world outside America, Republican challenger Mitt Romney offers lots of criticisms but few solutions

So much of this political campaign has been a struggle between narrative and facts. One of the few concrete actions Mitt Romney has promised in the area of foreign affairs is to increase America's military spending to four per cent of GDP – which would cost more than $2 trillion extra over the next decade. This hugely expensive, arbitrary benchmark gets predictable cheers from the cheap seats.

But doing the maths is important, especially because the Romney campaign's core is a commitment to rein in the generational theft of deficits and debt.

This $2 trillion dollar sop to the defence industry would overwhelm every specific cut he has proposed to domestic spending and social programmes, while also ensuring ballooning deficits into the future. When asked in the debate how this expense added up against the larger goals of deficit reduction, Ryan essentially had no response.

I called a defence analyst from the libertarian Cato Institute, Benjamin Friedman, looking for some perspective. "To be allegedly sceptical of government spending while being for spending massive amounts on defence it's just sort of the daily hypocrisy or ideological inconsistency," he said.

"If you say you don't think the government can efficiently deliver the mail, it's odd to say it can deliver democracy to Mesopotamia or Afghanistan."

The reality check resonates. With less than a month to the election, and two presidential debates left, this is the time for citizens to demand specifics, to drag arguments out of narrative abstractions and into the realm of actual governing.
