Looks like southwest Kansas will be hot again this week, but nothing over 100 like a few weeks ago. Speaking of "windy city", they say Dodge City Kansas has some of the normal fastest winds of the states, I would think that would help cool things off alittle but I guess not.

Anyway, I just took the lead. I'm winning for now.

Always wondered: Can tumbleweeds be harnessed for compost or for energy?

When I was a kid years (and years) ago we once had a very bad year for tumbleweeds. My dad had me stack all of them in a pile and burn them. The flames must have risen to 50 feet or more. I thought we were about to set all the nearby homes on fire but there was no winds and the flames just went straight up. There is alot of energy in tumbleweeds.

corn crops are now turned into ethanol for energy and other uses. maybe someday, tumbleweeds will be found our to be a source of 7other important uses too.

Weather was just about perfect today in Alabama, I can't believe I'm saying it but it was cool on a August day! I bet the old folks around here probably can remember summers as mild as this one but this is new to me, Im actually not smothering in the heat and that's saying a lot for Alabama in the summer! I love it want some more of it! lol

Sounds similar to ours. Most of us still need to drink plenty of plain water to avoid being "heat struck".

Hi everyone. Southwest Kansas is in a 5 year dry spell. We had 3 days of very light rain last week, none for a few days, but tonight we should get alittle more. I've heard about the north east part of the U.S.A., it's amazing just how much they are getting. One place had 13 inches in about 36 hours, while most other bad places had 4-6 inches.
