Ok, first, did you change the spark plugs? And, after you stop groaning, that's all I got.

Why would I? It's not corroded, just covered with fuel.

LW1: Now I know the answer to a mystery I've been pondering for years: what man in his right man would even consider marrying the unbearable you-know-whats on Bridezillas, especially when so many perfectly nice, sane, caring women can't even find dates? You, sir, are a horny idiot and a patsy. Go find your balls and then go find one of those nice women you guys are always ocmplaining that you can't find when they're right under your nose, but you ignore and neglect them for the crazies and beeyotches.

LW2: Oh, goody, another bully trying to use the legal system as blackmail to get whatever they want. Grandparents rights basically only apply in situations where a parent is deceased and his or her parents are being denied the right to visitation and access to their grandchildren. Other than that type of situation, courts have generally agreed that parents have the complete right to have the "care, custody and control" of their children, including determining who has access to them.

We had a case here in my state several years ago where an EMT died in the line of duty; the rescue helicopter he was in crashed. His parents naturally wanted visitation with his young daughter, but the beeyotch of a mother refused. So, after trying everything they could short of court, they finally resorted to court to enforce their rights.

But the beeyotch by this time had a shady boyfriend whom she convinced to help kill her ex-inlaws (by setting fire to their home, if I'm remember right-but I could have that particular detail wrong, it's been several years). So now the poor young daughter effectively has no parents and no grandparents on one side. But that is, of course, an extreme example.

I loved LW3 and know exactly what she's talking about. I enjoy cooking and baking and trying new things, I'm not a stick-in-the-mud when it comes to food. But it is, indeed, getting ridiculous and out-of-hand.

As some of you know, hubby and I were in Chicago last month for a wedding. Hubby's brother and family, who live in large cities, took us to an Asian-French restaurant (part of the "food fusion" craze that I think is actually pretty interesting). Now, again, I'm by no means provincial and isolated when it comes to food; I may live in a rural state but I'm originally from Cleveland, after all. But I'd never even heard of more than two-thirds of what was on the menu. And that's not even getting into the issue of the horrendous prices for tiny amounts of food that barely added up to a few bites per plate.

OTOH, I was reading in the Tribune food section when we were there about a new Cuban-Asian fusion place that had just opened as a lunch diner and was wishing we'd had time to try it.

Ooooo. Which restaurant did you go to?

The hot one in town at the moment is Girl and the Goat. We made reservations 4 months ago for tomorrow, a Saturday night.

The other morning the WBEZ pledge drive had a drawing for the chef's table there and they were so obnoxious about it that it guaranteed I would never eat there.

But never mind me and my sourness, have a good time!

I don't remember the exact name, but it was just right across the street from the front entrance of our hotel, the J.R. Marriott right in the center of downtown. We were there on a Saturday night (the wedding wasn't until Sunday afternoon), so there was a live band and a dance floor, also. The food we did have, including the desserts, was very good as was the wine we had with it, it was just quite a different experience. It had the name in script above the door, then "Asian French Cuisine" underneath that in larger letters.

That should be the one in the W Hotel. I have looked at the menu but haven't gone in. It looks like someplace people take clients. I have been in the cocktail lounge part, though, that is right next to the restaurant and to a number of functions in the ballrooms one level up.

You were brave staying at that hotel-the JR Marriott. They had a fountain in the lobby that bred Legionnaires Disease. Three people died and a bunch more got sick last year.

Whoa, I didn't know that about the fountain and Legionnaire's! Those types of fountains are notorious for that, unfortunately. They must have had to pay out a fortune in legal liability. We actually didn't choose the hotel ourselves, his brother was paying for us to be there and that's where he was staying.
