I drove by this accident before emergency responders arrived on scene. It was pretty bad. I was driving SB. First you see this truck just laying across the roadway there was no one inside and then like 1/4 mile down you saw the car it may have been a beetle before the drivers side was crushed. I thought to myself there is no way that driver survived. It's a shame how many fatal accidents there have been this winter with drivers so young. RIP Earnest Ownes.

I would just like to thank the people who caused this accident and everyone for holding up traffic for so long last night, on a busy rush hour. I was driving home at 6:15PM and as soon as I got onto Rt. 33 north, traffic was slowed to a crawl. I knew it was bad when three giant tow trucks drove up the shoulder. Then, all the back roads were backed up really bad too. This was all on a busy rush hour Friday night. I was late for my dinner. Next time, please pick a better time to have a major accident like this one or pick a less travelled road!
The person that was killed is very sorry he inconvenienced you. At least you were able to go home to your family.

This has nothing to do with this article, but more globally.
When it becomes acceptable as a society for someone to make a comment like "TY" did, and think it was funny or appropriate, it shows something about our society.
No matter what we HOPE for, or what we desire from the winds of CHANGE, we are stuck with what we have created.
It takes you and I to look in the mirror and show some respect to ourselves and others daily in order for this nation to prosper again.
My condolences to the family. I too was in the traffic and I pray daily for the safety of many as I am blessed with safety and coming home to my family each night.
God bless.
sorry owens

How much you want to make a bet it had something to do with speeding. Sorry to hear this, I heard it when it happened but I really would seriously like to see BARRIERS on these highways PLEASE. How many more people have to die before they decide to erect these damnn things.

I was on 33 N and drove by the accident which must have happened about 5 minutes before I got onto the highway. When I saw all the fire trucks, ambulances and police cars coming up the shoulder of the road, I knew that this couldn't be good and immediately started praying for those in the accident. I can't believe how some people can be so selfish and inconsiderate when someone's life was taken away. As we eventually moved along the highway everyone respectfully started merging into one lane about 500 feet before the lane ended leaving room for the workers and medics. All of a sudden a pickup truck decided to fly up the empty lane and tried to cut in front where the lane ended. I couldnít believe that someone could be so disrespectful when they knew what had just happened. When no one would let this jerk in, he tried to intimate me by almost hitting my car and was literally less than a foot away from my window. He and his wife plastered their face to their passenger window and had the nerve to start cursing and giving me the finger. The accident was just a few feet away with the car in the medium covered with a tarp and about Ĺ mile up was the tractor trailer lying on its side in the left lane. I felt like crying when I saw it as I knew it wasnít good. When we finally got through the single lane, the jerk floors it and flies by everyone like we were holding him up.

For God Sakes, there was a fatal accident and all some people can think about it being late and the inconvenience this was causing them.

To Earnestís family and friends I am so sorry for your loss. I also pray for the tractor trailer driver who now has to live with this forever.

correction to my post above, I meant to say truck and not tractor trailer. It looked more like a box truck, but I really couldn't tell.

I also sat in traffic & passed the crash. I only sat in traffic for 10 minutes because I was about 1 minute behind the accident. I started crying as I passed the scene. I knew the driver of the car must have died. I hope is family and friends well during this difficult time. May his death teach us all a lesson about slowing down while driving & enjoy your live and family to the fullest. May he rest in peace.

I also passed the accident and prayed for the best. So sorry for the families of those involved. Thank you has no heart. What a selfish -sshole to even think something like what he posted. That is exactly what is wrong with our society today.People are so detached from one another only worried about themselves. It makes me so sad. RIP young man.

So sorry to hear about your "counsin". It's a shame that not "everone" can go to school and get a real education, "becae" if they would, they would learn how to speak intelligently. Something for "u" and "ur" friends to think about.

Seriously, I am very saddened to hear about your cousin. I am a neighbor of his on Spring St. He was a very good friend.

RIP Ernie, may you finally find peace in Heaven.
