good let the over paid over rated under preforming union morons get jobs in the real world and find out what they are really worth.

Hint here = NOT MUCH.

they will have to learn how to say :"ya want fries with dat? 1,000 times a day.

but they will get paid more in line with limited abilty they have.
and most are already fat enough slow moving enough, ugly enough and lazy enough to work the walk up counter.

A good start. However, isn't this really a result of their unions constantly biting the hand that feeds it? Or simply someone has been sawing off the twig they are sitting on.

Good news. I doubt the kids will notice any difference and CPS is not a place people with options would send their kids to begin with. A daycare with XBOX and sports facillities would teach them more. You need to read some to play XBOX. Should be a greater incentive than "my child is an honor student at...." bumper stickers...

Funny thing is in Chicago the school admin types make more then 50 teachers combined. BET NOT ONE OF THE BLOATED TOP LOST JOB THOUGH.

Like most companies they are top heavy. when GM got bailout the top 20 paid people CEO down made more money each year then all union workers combined.

Most schools it is same district office type make more then all teachers combined. The USA is so messed up

As long as options exist, CPS will keep losing kids to those other options, whether this is charter school, private school or home schooling. At the same time, the productive will keep moving out of the city, leaving it left to corporations, law firms and public institutions.

This is unstoppable unless the remaining tax payers in CHI are forced to pay more, whereupon more will leave. This is similar to the Taxi medallion scam and private ride share companies. Entitlements gone nuts. And as always, screaming for more money seems to be their only idea of a solutions.

No Thanks..

I don't always agree with Rahm Emanuel, but I must say he has done more to improve the Educational System in one term then Daley ever did for the students. By firing all those teachers they can bring back the best, and brightest in the Fall, and eliminate the fat, useless slugs that have permeated the system for decades.

in addition to being one billion dollars short, there is nothing left to tax to pay da bills coming due..

the city has over taxed, over regulated business and there fore business has left or in process of leaving. The middle class working tax payers has been over taxed and is leaving in mass.

the citizens of chicago who are left behind are the welfare ho's, illegal immigrants , black drug dealing gun shooting street gangs who never pay taxes.

see ya in bankruptcy court chicago.

Oh Union morons I got a question for ya, Whom is going to pay your greedy over priced UNFUNDED retirement promises??? Hummm?

democrats promised you the moon to get your union block votes to stay in office but they kicked the financial can down the road. Ha ha ha ha

Remember welfare ho's illegals and drug gangs don't pay no stinking taxes

Guess they never learned that axiom from economics 101 which states

"what you tax you get less of what you subsidize you get more of"

now look around chicago or Illinois and see what you been over taxing and over subsidizing for 60 years... ha ha ha ha

I don't want to jump topics but it is ironic that Emanuel wants Chicago to be 'immigrant friendly'.

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-07-10...

But this is an example of what happens when you open the flood gates. Many of those immigrants legal or not devour entry level or off book jobs that many of these laid off teachers and CPS employees will need to get by.

Now if he can't even keep services running for the existing population what will additional people and fewer tax payers do to help the situation.

Chicago is already heading towards a City full of law firms, mega corporations and luxury condominiums. No middle class, no normal people who are a normal part of society, well, not none, but a small one.

It certainly is possible they could give the mega-corporations more tax advantages and simply try to squeeze some more from the common man. Come on teacher's union, gangbangers and illegals. There's got to be SOME more taxpayers around to harass or loot.

Finally, still have friends there. Sold my Condo this spring and a huge burden off my shoulders. Seems like I saw the right painting on the wall even 5 yeaars ago...
