More of like a "Why are you telling me this random information?" kind of freaked out. It'd be like them telling me that the wife only wears red bras or their great uncle is allergic to strawberries. My usual babysitting parents would just tell me pertinant info. Phone numbers, medications, bedtimes, etc.

Plus, my general uneasyness about guns. I don't do guns. Nothing political, I just don't. Never shot anything more than a bb gun or a paintball gun. I have no interest in them, I don't want them around me or in my house.

If she had used BC she would not be getting an abortion. Is that really beyond your ability to grasp?

Only with women you thought might get pregnant? And how in the heck did you make that distinction? You're a gyno? That is absolutely retarded.
And believe me, I am not "interested" in anything having to do with you trying to shove that pathetic skin flap inside some poor victim. But you made the ridiculous assertion that the LW hadn't used birth control, then went on to say how she obviously hadn't used every possible form, and...wait, I guess I didn't need to say anything. Your statement was moronic on its face. Never mind.

That would SERIOUSLY be your thought process?? I'm with tonka, I can't understand why that knowlege would freak you, squish, and matilda out. But I'm also gonna guess all three of you are anti-gun nuts. Goes to show you how irrational your fears are.
Yes. Because who the heck would tell a babysitter in this situation so I would be wondering his motive.

No, they're just gonna steal the safe. They'll worry about opening it later. Go ahead and ask how I know that...

L1: " I, however, am pro-life, although I do feel that in cases of rape or incest it is acceptable. " So you're not pro-life. The baby conceived by rape is less deserving of life? No, you just believe in cutting a break to pregnant woman you find to be "unlucky" and punishing the woman who merely was stupid enough to get pregnant.

Don't believe in abortion (except in your stupid exceptions?)? Don't have one. Holding your daughter's hand while she deals with the aftermath of this is just parenting. It doesn't mean you went against your beliefs.

I hate hate hate that whole "except in cases of rape and incest." What a frickin' copout. Either you believe every conceived child has a right to be born (except maybe if the mother's life is at risk, and there are peopl who don't even like THAT), or you don't. Which is it?

L2: I think your husband is completely wrong. What was she thinking? WHat if your sitter tells a loser friend who decides to rob your house to get the gun to commit another crime? Tell him to stfu.

And what good is that gun going to do you, locked in a safe?

L3: Definitely illegal. Ask if he'd pass by a state trooper with the book resting on his steering wheel.

All this for a 2 or 3 hundred dollar hand gun? I think they'd take the big screen tv first and pawn it and go buy a gun at a gun store or get one off the streets if they are big time criminals who need a gun so bad.

And we circle back. I know you're not the brightest bulb, but you do understand that birth control is not 100% effective, right? The pill is not absolute. Neither are diaphrams. Neither are IUDs. Condoms break. Every form of birth control, other than abstinance, is fallable. You berate Amby for not berating the LW's daughter for not using birth control, when you have no way of knowing if she was or was not. Some might say you are just woman bashing. Where was your call for Amby to berate the LW's daughter's partner for not using birth control? Hmmm?

So, are you saying that you believe the LW's daughter used BC and it failed? Is that your position?

Do you think thats what happened here? I get the impression from the picture painted that BC was either not used at all, or occasionally at best. If there was a failure, it was not with the product, but it's application/use.

Are you really that naive? How many criminals do you know can walk into a store and legally buy a gun? And where do you think the guns on the streets come from in the first place? If they can steal a gun, they will, no matter how much it "costs," that is not important to them. Oh, and the TV was taken too. Do you *really* believe thieves aren't interested in stealing a gun if they break. Into your home?

That's all in your head. There's absolutely nothing in the letter to give us any idea. Conjecture is fine, we do it here all the time, but at least just say that's what it is.

I can totally see this. Especially if it's one of those smaller safes that's about 12" cubed.

A woman who is raped did not have sex willingly! I'll cut her some more slack than WhoreSuzie who brings men home from the bar every Friday night. And how much have you slammed certain politicians for not believing in abortion under ANY circumstances? It is not an all or nothing thing, don't try to make it one. I am opposed to abortions in general but am willing to make certain exceptions. There is nothing hypocritical about that

No you are the one who is naive:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows...

Honestly, I don't believe it is likely at all that the babysitter is likely to be associated with underworld career criminals who will be motivated to scope out their house for weeks or months waiting for no one to be home, just so that they can break in and steal a safe that they will somehow have to open just to retrieve a gun to complete a crime that they have been waiting weeks or months to commit until they can get a hold of this gun. If I were wanting to commit a crime and needed a gun, I don't think I would wait the length of time it would take to get this gun, to commit it. I'm pretty sure I'd find another way than befriending a babysitter in the hopes that she can lead me to guns too.

You're completely wrong: It's 100% HYPOCRITICAL. The baby's life is sacred only if the mom was unlucky? Why is the child who was produced by rape not deemed worthy of living?

Ha! Everybody here knows you can't argue/debate for shit, so your "invalid argument" comment is aj oke.

And again, you have NO IDEA of the circumstances of LW's daughter's birth control protection.
