The sidewalk to nowhere was painfully funny for me.
Ever since I was a teenager I knew that people here were for the most part backwards. Bethlehem is a dead steel town, just like 10 or 20 others in Pa. Not real far from where I am now. That video nearly perfectly captured the prevailing mentality.
"We don't need another lawyer in the white house! He's a LAWYER!"
Well, so were some of our best. Like Jefferson... Adams... hell, pick one. There is a solid chance they are a lawyer.
It is a tragedy that none of them could articulate their plainly obvious concern.
When you run around screaming "terrorist" and "socialist/communist " and someone asks you "why?" you think that... You should probably not just repeat the last sentence that came out of your mouth. It makes you seem real effing dumb if you don't understand the difference between "Why?" and "Huh?".
But seriously, I can throw a rock from any street corner in PA and hit one of these assholes.
I am ashamed for my state. One thing is certain though. There is not very much youth on the sidewalk to nowhere, and it was NOT like that 20 years ago. I seriously think if we give it another 10 or 15 years most of the people in that video will be gone. McCarthyism didn't die out with Joe. It does seem to be a dying ideal though.
The sad truth is I agree and we have them in all 50 States unfortunately.

The other truth is the majority in Congress are Lawyers and Millionaires on both sides of the isle.

Even in New York there are plenty of Republicans in power and Centrist Democrats.

Another sad truth is the New York corrupt corporate mainstream media is against what seems to be an authentic liberal/progressive who wants to tax the wealthiest so our kids can have better public schools.

I am speaking of Mayor Bill de Blasio

There is an old expression that states: You Cannot Fight City Hall and win.

Hillary Clinton & Rupert Murdoch
By Jeff Cohen 10 May 2006 / http://tinyurl.com/yo9y6d
Excuse me for not getting fired up when I hear Democratic leaders bleating about the "culture of corruption" in Washington under GOP rule. Sometimes I have to laugh ... and not because the charges against the Republicans aren't true. They're totally true.
It's just that top Democrats are up to their eyeballs in that same culture of corruption - which may be why they seem blind to how activists see them. Take my New York senator, Hillary Clinton. The Financial Times just reported that she and her re-election campaign have lined up right-wing media mogul Rupert Murdoch to host a Hillary fundraiser in July.

Murdoch is the symbol of media conglomeration and the owner of Republican mouthpieces like Fox News, Weekly Standard and the New York Post. He and Hillary have lately conducted a public courtship. Last month, Hillary attended the 10th anniversary party for Fox News in Washington, where the presidential contender schmoozed Murdoch and Fox chair Roger Ailes. According to the Financial Times, Bill Clinton will address the summer conference of Murdoch's media colossus, News Corp.

It's actually quite fitting that President Clinton address News Corp, since he helped build that conglomerate - through his Telecommunications "Reform" Act of 1996, a corrupt measure largely drafted by lobbyists for the media industry as they lavished campaign cash on politicians of both parties. The law loosened regulations constraining News Corp's growth and raised caps on how many TV stations Murdoch and others could own. Murdoch immediately bought up new stations. Clear Channel expanded from 40 radio stations to 1,200; right-wing Sinclair Broadcasting expanded from 11 TV stations to 60.

The White House cabal
By Colonel Lawrence B. Wilkerson, COLONEL LAWRENCE B. WILKERSON served as chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin L. Powell from 2002 to 2005.

In President Bush's first term, some of the most important decisions about U.S. national security — including vital decisions about postwar Iraq — were made by a secretive, little-known cabal. It was made up of a very small group of people led by Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

When I first discussed this group in a speech last week at the New American Foundation in Washington, my comments caused a significant stir because I had been chief of staff to then-Secretary of State Colin Powell between 2002 and 2005.

But it's absolutely true. I believe that the decisions of this cabal were sometimes made with the full and witting support of the president and sometimes with something less. More often than not, then-national security advisor Condoleezza Rice was simply steamrolled by this cabal.

Its insular and secret workings were efficient and swift — not unlike the decision-making one would associate more with a dictatorship than a democracy. This furtive process was camouflaged neatly by the dysfunction and inefficiency of the formal decision-making process, where decisions, if they were reached at all, had to wend their way through the bureaucracy, with its dissenters, obstructionists and "guardians of the turf."

But the secret process was ultimately a failure. It produced a series of disastrous decisions and virtually ensured that the agencies charged with implementing them would not or could not execute them well.

I watched these dual decision-making processes operate for four years at the State Department. As chief of staff for 27 months, I had a door adjoining the secretary of State's office. I read virtually every document he read. I read the intelligence briefings and spoke daily with people from all across government.

Colonel Wilkerson Finally Saw Whites of Their Eyes
As Colin Powell's right-hand man at the State Department, Larry Wilkerson seethed quietly during President Bush's first term. Yesterday, Colonel Wilkerson made up for lost time. http://tinyurl.com/8mprf / October 20, 2005
He said the vice president and the secretary of defense created a "Cheney-Rumsfeld cabal" that hijacked U.S. foreign policy. He said of former defense undersecretary Douglas Feith: "Seldom in my life have I met a dumber man." Addressing scholars, journalists and others at the New America Foundation, Wilkerson accused Bush of "cowboyism" and said he had viewed Condoleezza Rice as "extremely weak." Of American diplomacy, he fretted, "I'm not sure the State Department even exists anymore."

And how about Karen Hughes's efforts to boost the country's image abroad? "It's hard to sell [manure]," Wilkerson said, quoting an Egyptian friend.

Rather, the colonel objected to the administration's secrecy, which allowed Cheney, Rumsfeld and others to subvert the foreign policy apparatus that has been in place since 1947.

"What I saw was a cabal between the vice president of the United States, Richard Cheney, and the secretary of defense, Donald Rumsfeld," he said. By cutting out the bureaucracy that had to carry out those decisions, "we have courted disaster in Iraq, in North Korea, in Iran, and generally with regard to domestic crises like Katrina." If there is a nuclear terrorist attack or a major pandemic, Wilkerson continued, "you are going to see the ineptitude of this government in a way that'll take you back to the Declaration of Independence."

Wilkerson blamed Bush, "not versed in international relations and not too much interested," for letting the Cheney-Rumsfeld cabal to take over. He blamed Rice for dropping her role as honest broker to "build her intimacy with the president." And he blamed whoever gave Feith "carte blanche to tell the State Department to go screw itself."
The cabal's end run around the bureaucracy, he argued, stalled nuclear diplomacy with North Korea and Iran. He said top officials "condoned" prisoner abuse and left the Army "truly in bad shape."

How 'Reckless' Greed Contributed To Financial Crisis
May 24, 201112 / http://tinyurl.com/3f85ykq
Then there is the maddening aftermath — watching hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars get funneled to rescue some of the very institutions that drove the country into the ditch.
The American people realize they've been robbed. They're just not sure by whom.
Reckless Endangerment is an economic whodunit, on an international scale. But instead of a dead body as evidence, we have trillions of dollars in investments lost around the world, millions of Americans jettisoned from their homes and fourteen million U.S. workers without jobs. Such is the nature of this particular crime.
Recognizing that a disaster this large could not have occurred overnight, Josh and I set out to detail who did it, how, and why. We found that this was a crisis that crept up, building almost imperceptibly over the past two decades. More disturbing, it was the result of actions taken by people at the height of power in both the public and the private sectors, people who continue, even now, to hold sway in the corridors of Washington and Wall Street.

He also signed the Commodity Modernization Act of 2000 which deregulated CDO's that Fannie/Freddie sold around the world with the full faith and credit of the US government but were really sub prime loans.

He also treated Al Qaeda as a law enforcement issue for 8 years beginning with the first WTC bombing issue which led to 911.

Are you finished with the Gingrich budgets? All that Gingrich did was shut down the entire government because he wanted to get even for having to sit in the back of Air Force 1. He was subsequently forced to resign from the speakership and the House. Quit it already.
