US military had lost to North Korea,Vietnam, Iraq and now is hanging on in Afghanistan.
US is also facing very tough uphill battles to Russia, North Korea and China.

See follows on China:_________

See your pivot, raise you a carrier

Despite slowing economic growth, China continues to increase its defense budget, most recently as a counter to the Obama administration's so-called Asia pivot. Beijing is now building a domestically designed aircraft carrier, which will join the Liaoning, a refurbished carrier originally built for the Soviet navy. China's air force is working hard on a stealth fighter.

Another reason for the lavish spending is the buildup of China's "blue-water" navy. A stable supply of energy resources, including crude oil, is essential for China's continued development. The navy is taking on a new role, securing sea lanes to oil producers in the Middle East through the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea. Previously China's naval power was largely confined to its coastal waters and the western Pacific, but in recent years it has conducted exercises in the Indian Ocean as well.

In its military modernization drive, China has put particular emphasis on its navy, air force and Second Artillery Corps, its strategic missile force. Beijing sees the development of state-of-the-art weaponry -- aircraft carriers, stealth fighter jets, submarines, ballistic missiles -- as crucial to its efforts to prevent U.S. forces in the Pacific from threatening the mainland.

The Chinese military has drawn two lines of defense against the U.S.: the "First Island Chain," which stretches from Okinawa's main island to the South China Sea, and the "Second Island Chain," which extends as far east as Tokyo and Guam. The Chinese navy already has the ability to control most of the waters inside the First Island Chain, and it has stepped up military exercises in the western Pacific.

According to Chinese media, the navy conducted military drills in the western Pacific nine times in 2013, compared with a total of 21 drills during the previous six years. It is now common for Chinese navy vessels to sail beyond the Second Island Chain. "We dispatch intelligence-gathering vessels to waters off the coast of Hawaii to collect electronic intelligence from the U.S. Pacific Fleet," a Chinese military source said.

China shows no sign of becoming less assertive in disputed waters in the East China and South China seas, and it looks set to test the U.S. in the Pacific. During an official visit to the U.S. last June, Chinese President Xi Jinping reportedly told President Barack Obama that the vast Pacific Ocean has enough space for both superpowers, China and the U.S., indicating China's ambition to be a strategic player in the Pacific on equal terms with the U.S.

Chess match

China's burgeoning defense budget is making its neighbors nervous, particularly those that have territorial disputes with China, including Japan and the Philippines. However, Chinese Rear Adm. Yin Zhuo argues that China's defense budget, at 1.4-1.6% of gross domestic product, is relatively modest compared with U.S. military expenditure, which is equivalent to 4.2-4.8% of its larger GDP.

Oh, have you noticed that Judge Brown has a Southern accent? Yep, he doesn't sound like a ghetto person which probably means Judge Brown is an Oreo!

Er,hmm, Rogue, still awaiting your reply to my question, namely, who cancelled the space shuttle programme? Additionally, do tell us how Americans , Canadians, Europeans and Japanese will get to the space station if the Russians don't take 'em there and back. Again, who cancelled the space shuttle programme?

The smell of virgin papers wafted through the swinging doors.
And the croaking speech we have heard from many councilors before.
They say "We all care for you, we know how you suffer...
but I know you can succeed I used to have it so much rougher."

There is hope in the words, and emotion in the eyes.
It's so easy to be mislead by the savvy gentle guise.
And like fools we trust the delivery...
But it is all just drunk sincerity.

Or maybe its because we weren't alive 100 or 200 or 500 or 1000 years ago to have them to compare too. The reality is Linktv, history doesn't begin the day we were born, or become aware of our surroundings and environment. Everything you listed above has been happening for millions of years, along with volcanic eruptions, mudslides, flooding, and ice ages. Science shows the planet has even flipped its polarity more then once in the earths history. Do you think that a bunch of socialist politicians could prevent any one of the events listed above? Let me answer that question for you, not a chance in hell. The global climate change alarmists intend to scare the living hell out of you with their predictions so you can be more easily influenced and manipulated to conform to what they demand, which is control and power over you. The reality is that they are only making predictions, and these are based on flawed computer models using data that they feed into programs that they wrote. They cannot factor in water vapor, changing ocean currents, solar flares and other astronomical effects on the planet. For crying out loud, they want us to label carbon dioxide a pollutant. Thats as insane as labeling oxygen a pollutant, or methane a pollutant. Those gases, and so many others are naturally produced by the planet and its inhabitants, and have been FOREVER. Remember the ozone hole that we were all supposed to be freaked out about? It happens every seasonal cycle and always has. Do yourself a favor and be a skeptic, not a sucker. Arctic ice is on the increase at both poles. There are more polar bears today then when we first started counting them. There are actually fewer hurricanes now then twenty or thirty years ago because it runs in cycles. Volcanic activity for the moment is at a low, but there will continue to eruptions, and tornadoes, and earthquakes, and lots of people will die from them. It's called mother nature and we cannot control it, and anyone that says we can is a liar. Thats just the truth, and we should all have enough common sense to accept that.

Outstanding!
Only 1 correction. North pole ice is rapidly declining. They can say that both poles gain ice because they do at certain times of the year. However, if you are losing 25 kilos for every 10 that the cap grows... is that an "increase"?

Once people accept that we live on a planet that was not designed with us in mind. Things will become clearer. 99.99% of species that have ever appeared on the Earth are dead, extinct... gone the way of the dodo.

Wanna talk odds?

Who is to say it is a less than noble destiny?

But I am kind of biased, being human and all... If we know all you have explained, then why not prepare ourselves? Although I can't objectively rationalize it, it is coded into my whole species to survive. I would like to see the human race last as long as possible.

It is even more incentive to study our Earth. If we can't figure out that less pollution equals a brighter future... we simply don't deserve to survive by Darwinian standards.

I don't think anyone would challenge that an ice age would be unfortunate for humanity.
Nor, would I imagine that rising temperatures would treat us any better.

What we know 100% for sure... both scenarios are in our future.

Humans NEED the ability to control our climate in order to survive in the long term game.

Eventually this new science will lead to terraforming. Which is the penultimate goal. To ensure our survival by spreading out locally.

Turning Mars into a place that humans could walk around is not science fiction. But we need to completely understand what we are doing. What better time than now?

As you said, we cannot control mother nature.. it doesn't stop us from asking her how to do it.

Name me ONE country you're protecting at the present time, not two, just ONE. And who do you take yourself for, the world's policeman? I'll take this to the black jack table, namely that the bulk of your citizens do not wish to "protect" anyone. By the way, that's an impossible premise. Tell me how you're protecting Ukraine right now. And soon, Moldavia. You can't. No one can and no one wants you to..So none of that "protection" business , please.

A defence budget that, and I said so earlier, is bigger than all of Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, Japan, and China put together. Who do you want to protect with all that? Who do you want to attack? Mexico, Canada? And what good's it done in the last 55 years, when we consider the disasters in Vietnam, Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq? What good did that big budget do when you think of 9/11, the embassy bombings, the barracks bombing in Beirut? Stop kidding yourself.

US military budgets may be the biggest, but it has lost wars.
US military expenditures are laid out to spread across the world.
But to the Asia Pacific region, US budget is only a portion of total expenditures, so China's military budget is not far behind to that part of budget US allocated to Asia region ,
(in addition to consider that of North Korea US is facing, US is no any better), as well as that part In Europe facing Russia.

BUT, the question is not how much US spends.
The question is if US can battles, which has demonstrated US could not.

This new world has changed fundamentally, that in the areas of military training and warfare preparation, North Korea is among the top ones, while China is rising in the military together with Russia.
US might not even be able to face up to any one of them.
When three of them get together, US is obviously no match to Russia, China and North Korea together.

From here is only about 1000km (621mi) to Russian border.
Russians war instructions says, if state who has got nuclear weapons, attack against Russia, even without nukes, counterattack is ALWAYS executable with nuclear weapon(s).
It s not very funny situation, if nukes flies crisscross over to our country.
I know them (Russians) are enough crazy to do that.

-----+++++

In reply to what Mungo wrote on Russian war instructions:
You Finns are no dummies, eh?
OBAMA HAD BETTER SHUT UP RIGHT NOW.
Obama endangers US by messing Russians
The Russians mean business by saying if US meddles them, they will nuke US.
Except US nuke weapons are useless these days --based on US needs underground tunnels and bunkers, but where are they for US public?
Russians and North Koreans are well ready for nuke war --Russians have dug miles of deep underground structures so many years ago since Bush withdrew from ABM treaty, while under sanctions from Bush era onward, North Koreans have also dug too many underground facilities for any possible war with US.
Any US daring attack with nukes to North Korea in the area as so close to Russia, will have Russian nuke US back.
Russians have the most numbers of and best long range strategic missiles aiming at US and NATO since Bush withdrew form ABM treaty.
US military has been losing in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
There is no way US can even catch up to North Korea in nuke warfare.
When US could not win conventional weapon warfares by having wars with Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, US cannot win any nuke war, as other countries have nuke weapons nowadays.
Those having Nuke weapons countries such China, North Korea, India and Pakistan will side with Russia against US--for reasons beyond being closer to Russia than US, they could end up asking for under Russia protection.
Some people (like Obama) have made it to the extreme way of coming across to be against the Russians.
This is not biased, purely coming from the assessment objectively, in looking into US conditions versus theirs.
US atomic bombs dropped to Japan killed about 1-1/2 millions while so many millions were affected by nuclear radiation to have lived shorter lives.
If the Russians say they will, someone has to take it, like it or not , as not taken for granted as a matter of reality.
Today's nuke bombs are much bigger and heavier.
To a certain extent, there is deep underground sheltering with sufficient stocked-up foods, ample clean water supply and anti-Nuke radiation stuff , like Bicarbonates, medical caring etc., that people can survive.
The point is US is definitely a loser in nuke warfare these days-- that they could have certain percentage (depending on how adequately they have done) of people surviving, while US could almost be wiped out.
