I have to disagree with you on this. There is nothing in the constitution, unless you twist its intent, for the Federal Government to interject itself in the private affairs of the individual and their relationship with their doctor. The constitution was intended to limit the federal government and it's roll in our private lives. It also is clear that the politicians are never to exempt themselves from the laws they bind the rest of us, making them a special elite class above the rest of us, and that all laws are supposed to be fairly and equally enforced on us all. Both of our parties have become quite comfortable thumbing their noses at that document, not to mention their reckless lack of budgeting to insure economic stability and growth. I know that you are likely to point to medicaid and medicare, and the need to care for the less fortunate in our society, and I agree we have a social obligation to meet those needs in some manner. The problem is they abandoned market principles and all common sense with the non solutions they force on us all. I really don't care what the rest of the world does with their socialism, but I care a great deal when it is forced on me and compromises all of our personal liberty.
I disagree. There is also nothing in the Constitution that states the Gov't cannot assure that every single individual has equal access to health care. I think it's part of the "happiness" factor in the constitution. To me , the Constitution is like the Bible, Koran, Talmud and so forth. They all have grey areas and beg for interpretation, though all should be taken as is, for their writers, I'm sure, did not want anyone to interpret them. Writers of such documents, and this to me is pretty much all of them, did not take evolution of time, its advancements in science, medicine, the arts, the customs, families, etc.

The Constitution, therefore and to me, says nothing about health care, as it did not then exist, any more than it talks about TV, computers, and all that has been invented since then and impact on the citizens' rights. I think, for example, that for the president to be a U.S. citizen born in the US from US parents made sense in 1800. Not today, as there are no British infiltrators around. That was aimed at the Brits. Same for the 2nd Amendment. It mentions members belonging to a militia. Made eminent sense in the late 1700s. No more. And so forth, and that is why there have been amendments. How many to deal with the way things have evolved? Certainly not enough.

We remade our entire constitutin in 1982. 32 years ago. It's already out of date. Goes to show.

Why only mention British infiltrators? You can't say that was intended for the Brits, as if the Brits were their only concerns. This is the safety measure put in place by the founding fathers to insure that America would have an American president. It's never been more important. The founding fathers put our principles and beliefs on paper and it is those which we "still" stand by. Allow someone to attempt to change the Constitution and see what happens. Forget the amendment speech, I've heard it before.

Obama is Kenyan American, but the color of his skin is not what makes him a radical left wing liberal. When people complain about Obama, making statements like he wants to tear down The Constitution or destroy our country and our way of life, they aren't complaining about the color of his skin, they are complaining about his will to destroy our country.

Your 16th lie in less than 4 days. I recall perfectly, twice in the last 12 months , you decided to behave yourself. Twice, after short periods, you could no longer hold it in, and out burst the obscenities and your usual vile language. I do recall both times remarking that you were like a volcano , like a carbuncle, that sooner or later, the pus had to come out. Remember that? I could go and get those exchanges, but shan't waste any time doing that as even if I did, like so many times before, with evidence produced black on white, you go through seizure-like fits, denying your very written word, like those page and post numbers.

Hope the above was frank and civil.

That's the point, Path! All nationalities. Not any one in particular. What they learned from the Brits was that allowing any child born on their soil to be a full fledged citizen was not the way to go. In fact, it could easily lead to the fall of the nation. I can't help but question your intellect if you cannot understand this simple principle. My guess is, you understand it, you just don't like it.

My point was to prove, that no matter my style of posting, you'd still be condescending, insulting and demeaning to all posters who don't agree with you. It proved that point beyond any doubt. And sure, after three or four days of being polite and you still being an azz, I fired back. Get yourself a rubber stamp that says,'act like an azz, get treated like an azz' and stamp it on your forehead.

Your definition of "acting like and azz" seems to be stalled on proving you wrong at every turn. If that's so, then I am just that, an azz LMAO (LRS tm reg'd).

Jacques,
It is painfully obvious to me that the airline/oil cartels are vehemently opposed to high speed rail.
They have nothing to gain and everything to lose.
The planet is sick and suffering and air travel is a significant contributor to air pollution and the speedy decline of the health of the environment, as well as man himself.
That's my persepctive and I will be proven right in the final analysis.

You' re absolutely right, and this is why passenger train service in the U.S. and Canada is at least 50 years behind Europe. While trains travel across the old Continent at over 300 kmph, not to mention in Japan, we crawl along at 120 kmph tops in old dilapidated coaches. Yes, the airlines are scared, as well they should be. As an example, you install a high-speed line between Boston-NYC-Washington, the air shuttle is dead. Same for LA/SF/San Diego or Toronto - Ottawa - Montreal and a host of other connections.

Jacques,
I just think sometimes the government needs to claim eminent domain and ram it through for the common good and in spite of special interests.
I have no interest in riding a bullet train, but I think America needs to be interconnected by HSR much the same way as the interstate highway system.

I've got a lot of dirt I've dug up over the years on the airline industry....

Jacques,
Chicago's O'Hare Field claimed eminent domain and was allowed by law to mow down half of Bensenville, uprooting an established suburban commutnity, and, move a century old cemetery for a new runway.
They fought and fought that in the courts for years, but it was a foregone conclusion and the project was ultimately pushed through anyway.

I don't believe the constitution was written to address the inventions of the times or the social customs of the times Jacque, it was written to address the very core of human behavior, and designed and written to check the lust and greed of humans, and their desire to have power over others. The founders did not want kings and authoritarians having the power to decide our individual happiness. It was clarified in the federalist papers what the intent was. They recognized the importance of having a powerful enough central authority over the states to protect the new union from foreign aggressors, but also addressed the need to check domestic aggressors as well. That is why our current president has such contempt for the document, as he describes it as a charter of negative liberties that restrict what the federal power can do to the people, where he believes it should outline all the good things it should do, like making healthcare a right where it otherwise does not exist. Lets not forget that under Mao, Stalin, Hitler and the likes of Pol Pot, where the government did decide what was good for their people, we can count the bodies of those who disagreed with them in the millions. That is the very kind of good work that our founding fathers were fearful of because they understood what motivates some humans better then any of our current power structure. Government is only a force for good when it comes from the people up, not from the power structure down. That is what I believe.

This is for all of you Libtards who think that just because you were born in a particular country, you are automatically a citizen of that country. Last week I posted about the Dominican Republic and now this is a case from Italy;

xxxx The story has since become more complicated, with the father admitting that he lied in his asylum application when he said the entire family fled Kosovo, where they were persecuted for being Roma, or Gypsies. Leonarda, and most of her siblings, were born in Italy, though they do not have Italian citizenship. xxx

We need to change our laws to prevent "anchor babies". If you have a just a visit visa or came here illegally, you and your child need to leave, period.
