Why should I? It did reach a record high, made up for all those losses of last week.

Yes, that Fed money does prop it up, Rogue, I agree, but just think, when the money printing press stops, it'll fall, but with a gain of 100% in 5 years, not bad, eh, it'll be able to afford a very big drop to bring it back to GWB levels.

Ah, but when corrected for inflation, it is not a new high! And I noticed you mentioned only "5 years" and I know why. You see, the market topped out at 14,614 in Nov. 2007 which was almost SIX years ago. And when corrected for inflation that would be about 16,100, wouldn't it!!!
Ya want ta know how much I made in precious metals since 2006? I quadrupled my money!!!
Just in silver I bought 1200 silver dollars ($8.60 a coin) for just about $10,000 and then in 2010 sold them for $43,000. And that was just my silver dollars!!!
I own everything out right except for my hour of which I own only 25%, and two rental houses which I also own 25% of, but my cars, boat and plane are all free and clear.
Oh, there is no way I will pay my houses off as the interest rate is 3.5% and I expect inflation to take off like a moon rocket just as soon as Bernanke stops printing Obama Bucks.

Dec. 29, 2010 / http://tinyurl.com/239fncf
Years from now, Wall Street will look back on 2010 as a banner year, the year the industry fully turned the corner after the meltdown and the Street regained its old swagger. Just two years ago, the country's biggest banks stood on the brink of complete collapse; several storied institutions—Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns—either disappeared or were taken over. But in the years that followed, the surviving big banks and investment houses emerged stronger, while the rest of the American economy sank into a recession from which it has yet to fully emerge.

Only Little People Pay Taxes

Apr. 18, 2011 / http://tinyurl.com/lny2rzc
"We don't pay taxes. Only the little people pay taxes," billionaire hotelier Leona Helmsley famously (and allegedly) sniffed. She wasn't entirely correct: The superrich do still pay taxes. The wealthiest 1 percent of taxpayers pay 32 percent of all income tax collected by the federal government.
But the superrich don't pay as much as they used to—and thanks to a combination of tax cuts and preferential tax policies, their tax obligations can be less demanding than the so-called little people's. In fact, the very wealthiest Americans' tax burden has been steadily dropping for years, even as they've enjoyed astounding income growth not seen by the vast majority of Americans.

"The Norwegian countries are still predominantly white. They are socialist, but their culture of productive and organized communities functions." True 20 years ago, less and less so as poorer peoples migrate, are finding their way to these "prosperous" Scandinavian countries. Crime is up, and increasing every year, they just don't broadcast it. Poverty breeds crime, you should know that.
" Most of Africa is still crapping in the same river they drink from when their not killing one another". That is mean and untrue in most cases. They lack the means and the expertise to assure themselves clean drinking water, true. We do. You do. Yet, you tell me where your sewer pipes discharge their waste waters in the river and how far from that, often downstream, is your water supply drawn from? Why do you think we drink so much bottled water? We don't trust our water supply, is all. They've polluted their drinking water unknowingly, we pollute ours knowingly.
"when not killing one another (Africans)" ? Are you kidding? After thousands of years of wars, inquisition, never mind, too many to mention, the slaughter of Jews by Hitler, you talk about Africans killing one another? Are you daf? They could start killing by the thousands daily and that wouldn't even put a dent in WWII killed alone, more than 50 million, with the BLACKS or AFRICANS having nothing to do with it, except forced to fight by the British (Gurkas) and Fusiliers Senegalais by the French.
Chicago, Philadelphia, St.Louis, Detroit, etc. Your friend LRS says to search for the "why". Blacks are no more inherently violent than whites, and I'm well placed to say that. No more, no less, same human nature. More unemployment, poor education, discrimination and don't tell me discrimination is dead. But yes, something has to give, there is too much black violence. Check the causes, the "why" to start with.
Liberal progressives, as politicians, are, to me at least, no better, no worse than conservatives or republicans. They , or most of them, are looking after number 1 : Them. But, I maintain and will insist that liberal progressives leave a bit more of the pie for the taxpayer, for the poor jerk. They are more humane. Every piece of legislation, from paid vacation to 5-day week to unemployment insurance to social security~pensions ,and some health care when the republicans will let them, are liberal-progressive initiatives. Same here in Canada.
That was a thoughtful and respectful response Jacque from Ottawa, even if I disagree with many of your positions. For example, most of the statistics regarding the black demographic were way better prior to 1960. Were they discriminated against and suffer racism? They did, but their children were born into two parent households at rates higher then whites, who way outnumbered blacks in those days. They valued education, hard work, and honest character. Firm Baptists that rarely would see an abortion amongst theirs, and Bible reading was a common family function. Then the "liberal progressives" brilliantly turned what was once a solid republican voting block over to the democrats. It may have been the single event of Executive Order 9981 signed by Truman that brought them all over or not, but the reality is they have been a solid voting block supporting everything democrat and liberal progressive since the early 1950's and they couldn't be in worse shape then what we see today. Seven of every ten black babies born are to single mothers mostly dependent on the government. The rest are killed in the womb just like Margeret Sanger was hoping for. It's just sad.

You compare material wealth. You're way off. The family living in a grass hut is much better off than a ghetto family living in a shack, surrounded by drugs, guns and what not. As I said before, you've never visited Africa, never known what makes them tick, how they live, what their family values are, etc. Of course, things are spoiling for them as more and more Africans gravitate towards the big cities where there is no work for them. And why do they move to the cities? Because their agriculture is kaput. Why is that? Well, explanation would take too long and you would just shrug it off. But it has all to do with markets. Exported foods at low prices, imported foods at high prices. Harks back to colonial days, you wouldn't understand, and taken over by multinationals. Ever seen the Niger delta where they have oil facilities in Nigeria?

You persist somehow on comparing values that are incomparable. But just saying that the African should be grateful for having been "invited" to work parties in the US for more than 150 years and is now much better off when Occidental influence has made sure that things went ever so badly and worst in Africa and the underdeveloped world in general, at the same time that slaves suffered in the U.S., Central and south America and the Carribean, well, how are those for odds?

May appear simplistic, but if the white man had stayed out of Africa and a whole lot of other "third world nations", things would be a whole lot better fort them than the consequences of their forced "immigration" to the U.S., Central and South America.

Ahh... was not arguing with you. Agreed 100%

Just wanted to define "imaginary" in context.

Completely agree with you that our imaginary stock market has and will pay out 'real' wealth to those who are smart enough, lucky enough and know the proper people.

But fractional reserve banking is going to fail 100% of the time.

It is by design and is a mathematical scam of the grandest proportion.

THIS is by far my biggest gripe with the plain ole' ignorance of America.

The FED would have you believe that banking is some complex form of calculus with lots of bells and whistles. It even has it's own terminology.

The fact is it is high school stuff.

==========

I am going to create for you something only I can create. I am going to loan you 100 of them. But when you pay me back I need 130 of them.

Well, where are you going to get the extra 30? You can't create them and they do not exist.

The only way to possibly make good on your loan is to have more created by the very entity who gave you the loan in the first place.

They will happily create 30 more but you will need to pay back 40. Oh, and every one that they create DEVALUES them all.
==========

You don't need to be a math wiz to figure out what happens when this is done on the scale of 100s. And it doesn't take a math wiz to know what happens when it occurs on the scale of trillions.

We have gone through this routine so many times our money has been devalued OVER 98%.

The scam has run it's course. It is over. We are slapping band aids on at the moment to delay the inevitable. Even if we are able to pull off some kind of "economic recovery" (which is traditionally accomplished by war here in the U.S.) it is still delaying the inevitable.

None of it will be worth anything. We need to tell the world bank to kiss our collective asses and do it ourselves. Because THAT friends and neighbors... is the American way.

What? You never produced anything, any proof. And with this last one, still nothing.

Several times? How can you lie like that? If you don't like being labelled a liar, then produce the proof just once more.

Germany was slightly better off, what with dictatorship and skinning the Jews. The rest of Europe was at death's door. Sweden was slightly okay because it was furnishing iron ore and other commodities to Germany. G.B. was fully recovered by 1936? Are you nuts? They had nothing, unemployment was at 20%, production of ALL goods was in the basement. France was dying a slow death, is why the Communists, "le Front populaire" presided over by Léon Blum (incidentally, he "invented" paid vacation, did you know that? Did you know workers all over the world had no paid vacation until Blum came up with the idea?) came to power, so discouraged were the French people. South America, with the exception of the filthy rich in Argentina, were living in poverty.

You have not, and cannot supply proof that all these countries had recovered economically. Without a U.S. recovery, it's simple, they could not. The U.S. had started its recovery by 1037, slowly but surely and, certainly, some nations were profiting from that. But very little. The war changed all that. Well, changed for the better for the US and Canada, and for Argentina and Brazil which were supplying both sides, but not for occupied Europe, that is for sure. Post 1945 and the Marshall plan would do much improve their lives, not to mention the agricultural making them less dependent on food imports. And their colonies helped tremendously.
