Jim Croce also died in a Beech-18 aircraft crash. His plain hit a tree on takeoff at night. There were many ex-military Beech-18s available and were very popular. Many are still in service and they are all older than I am.

Now here are some idiots on this Beech-18! I do not see an "N" number so I can't tell if this is an American registered aircraft but I am sure the FAA would bot be happy if this was done in the U.S.

And here is a picture of a WWII Beech-18 being used as a trainer for bombardiers and navigators. "AT" means Advanced Trainer.

You're the one who claims Boeing 777s have FEs!!! In fact B-747s and Airbus 380s, which have twice as many engines, do not have FEs!!!
Did you know commercial passenger planes that have less than 15 passengers are NOT required to have cabin doors to the cockpits not flight attendants?!?
In fact, not until after 9/11/01 was there required to be a "secure" cabin door on any plane!!!! The purpose of the cabin door was to keep smoke out of the cockpit.
In the Rickie Nelson plane fire the only two people who walked away were the pilots! WHY? They had their cabin door closed and as the cabin filled with smoke, they were able to land. If there had been no cabin door, they too would have been over come by the smoke and then no one would have had a chance to survive the cabin fire.
Oh, there was some specialization that Rickie was smoking cocaine but the FAA ruled it was a cabin heater fire!
Oh, the Leonard Skinner crash was caused by the plane running out of fuel. Buddy Holly's by air frame icing in flight. And Otis Reading's crash was not solved.
http://www.google.com/imgres...
I, like many, had never heard of Otis until after his death.
Ridiculous and liar is what you are. Where have I ever claimed that 777s have Flight engineers? When? FEs went out with the bath water 30 years ago if not more. ALL aircraft, 2 or 4-engined. Now tell me, where and when did I claim 777s have a FE?

All the other stuff that follows, I'm familiar with. I've not piloted (well, they have let me "drive" small Cessnas for the hell of it), but have flown in so many aircraft types, military, commercial and civilian, I almost forget which eqpt. One I'll never forget was aboard a Herc over the Sahara at 200 knots and not more than 200 feet altitude. Scary, scary, scary but the adrenaline! Was sitting in the jump seat and yes, it had a flight engineer.

You wrote : "Oh, flight engineers do not maintain airspeed as airspeed is maintained through "pitch" control which either requires a control stick or yoke ". True, but they make sure the pilot has the requisite power to maintain said air speed. Also, a third WORKING pilot or engineer, not two additional resting pilots NOT in the cockpit, is a third eye, observer who helps fly what is a very complex/complicated machine.
There is an excellent article in this morning's Citizen on how pilots are losing their flying skills to automation. I recall the Airbus 330 crash in the Atlantic off Brazil, what, 2 years ago. Total total pilot error, both of them. A flight engineer may have helped. A new pilot may not have been able to successfully ditch his A320 on the Hudson the way Capt Sullenberger did. But Sullenberger had so much manual flying experience, he was able to pull it off. The Bombardier Winter and ice-laden wings crash a few years back, again, total pilot error, both of them.
Ah, they have auto-throttles to do that these days. The problem is that for it to function the glide slope on the ILS had to be working and it was out of service and both the pilot and copilot failed to catch it.
In any event, the copilot would have done it manually and a FE is not only not needed, there is no FE station for an FE to do that job!!!!
The Air France 447 crash off of Brazil in in 2009 was caused by poor airmanship and a computer glitch. Just like when people to so use to calculators they can not do simple math, plane are also highly computerized these days and if your basic airmanship is not up to snuff and you have a computer failure like the AF plane did, you all die!

That is right, Jacques. What goes up must come down. Every time one of those planes gets airborne it defies the laws of gravity.
Seeing those two jokers belly-flop into the seawall solidifies my belief that man was not meant to fly.
There is no sum of money you could pay me to ever get in one of those contraptions ever again.
My flying days are over and have been since 9/11.

Late model Air Bus jets have three-channel autopilot computers. If one set of sensors fail (in this case, ice-up) but if two sets fail, the computer thinks the one that did not fail, is the one that did and it tries to fly on the two failed sensors.
This is when you go to your basic, 1903, airmanship and neither of the pilots at the controls were able to do that and everyone died. Boeing does not do what Airbus does. They have a set of sensors for the pilot's instruments, one for the copilot's and the third is for the autopilot. No computer to get confuzerized!!!!
If it ain't a Boeing, I ain't agoin'!!!!

Hillary Clinton & Rupert Murdoch
By Jeff Cohen 10 May 2006 / http://tinyurl.com/yo9y6d

Excuse me for not getting fired up when I hear Democratic leaders bleating about the "culture of corruption" in Washington under GOP rule. Sometimes I have to laugh ... and not because the charges against the Republicans aren't true. They're totally true.
It's just that top Democrats are up to their eyeballs in that same culture of corruption - which may be why they seem blind to how activists see them. Take my New York senator, Hillary Clinton. The Financial Times just reported that she and her re-election campaign have lined up right-wing media mogul Rupert Murdoch to host a Hillary fundraiser in July.

Oh, my plane does not have an all-glass cockpit. It has the old standard six-pack "steam" gauges (round analog) and a Aspen Evolution 1000 PFD. I am old school and I am used to the old type gauges.
Here is a video of a similar set up to mine.

But I can see why someone someone would become over reliant on the newer systems.
My attitude gyro and directional gyro are vacuum driven (no electricity) off of the engine while my Aspen is not only electric, it has it's own battery backup.
So I would have to have multiple malfunctions before I would be lost-in-space!
Oh, I have THREE GPS navigation systems. Dual Garmin 430s and the Aspen not only has a built in GPS but it is also battery backed up!

Then comes the one Rogue variety comment at the bottom.

Of course like Rogue he links to no examples of ACORN “voter fraud” and six months of searching google will find none either. The “ACORN volunteers” part I assume he pulled from his ass.
Thanks for the links.

I could not agree more with your post.

However, it is extremely sad how Obama threw ACORN and Rev. Wright under the bus.

The trial at least serves notice that there should indeed be consequences when one haphazardly takes another’s life. Zimmerman should have never been allowed to just walk away.

So-called free trade talks should be in the public, not corporate interest
Instead a negotiation process that is neither democratic and or transparent is likely to perpetuate a managed trade regime / 5 July 2013 / http://tinyurl.com/lghnq45
Though nothing has come of the World Trade Organisation's Doha development round of global trade negotiations since they were launched almost a dozen years ago, another round of talks is in the works. This time the negotiations will not be held on a global, multilateral basis. Rather, two huge regional agreements – one transpacific, and the other transatlantic – are to be negotiated. Are the coming talks likely to be more successful?
The Doha round was torpedoed by the US refusal to eliminate agricultural subsidies – a sine qua non for any true development round, given that 70% of those in the developing world depend on agriculture directly or indirectly. The US position was truly breathtaking, given that the WTO had already judged that America's cotton subsidies – paid to fewer than 25,000 rich farmers – were illegal. Washington's response was to bribe Brazil, which had brought the complaint, not to pursue the matter further, leaving in the lurch millions of poor cotton farmers in sub-Saharan Africa and India, who suffer from depressed prices because of America's largesse to its wealthy farmers.

“Now that’s justice for Trayvon!” But do you think Eric Holder will investigate this as a racial hate crime like he had George Zimmerman investigated?

Mob beats man on his own front porch “for Trayvon”…press ignores
Posted on July 9, 2013

This is pretty sick and we’re probably going to see a lot more of this when Zimmerman is found innocent.
Check it out:

On Saturday night, Matthew Owens told a group of kids to stop playing in the middle of street, only to have them return with a group of adults who dished out a beating that landed him in the Intensive Care Unit, according to police.

Police say that the group of 20 assailants used chairs, pipes and paint cans to waylay Owens on his own front porch.

The victim’s sister, Ashley Parker, told News 5:“It was the scariest thing I have ever witnessed.” She said the attackers used “brass buckles, paint cans and anything they could get their hands on.”

Parker added that as her brother lie on the ground bleeding, one of the assailants looked back and shouted:“Now that’s justice for Trayvon!”

Owens is still listed in critical condition at the University of South Alabama Medical Center.
