Saddam was a tyrant. A mean s.o.b. massacrer and despot.

BUT, how many have died snce the us invaded and occupied Iraq? Ole Saddam would've had to work overtime to outdo the post 202 years. With Saddam, there was no Al Qaeda in Irak. Now there is. With Saddam, there was no Iran in Iraq. Now there is. With Saddam, Catholics and a small number of Jews lived in peace. No more, and most Catholics have left the country. The VP was a Catholic btw. With Saddam, there was no oil exploration and exploitation by the Russians. Now there is, and it's the biggest in Iraq's history. With Saddam, there was no record export of oil to Japan thanks to the signature of the biggest exporting deal to date with that country.

Now, to thank the U.S. for "saving it", Iraq has,(see above) given the Russians a record oil contract, the Japanese a record oil export. Has Iraq given a break on the price of a barrel as thanks to the US for "saving it"? Hmm. NOT. Has Iraq given the US new concessions as thanks for "saving it"? Hmmm, NOT. Has Iraq paid reparations to the US for "saving it"?. Hmmm, NOT.

Any more BS, slug?

When I look at the millions and millions of people in the streets of Egypt today, I see many women in amongst the masses of Morsi protesters.
But when I look at the Muslim Brotherhood counter-demonstrations, the presence of women are few and far between,

Isn't that something? I recall, at a meeting at Brussels NATO, Colin Powell was heading for the staff restaurant with his retinue and this major rushed to him, panting, drooling in the presence of the sec of state, whispered somethng in his ear , and Colin Powell didn't even react, or wince, waved off the captain and kept walking. Loved it, another sycophant hit the dirt.

Tell me something I don't know. But why are you not rejoicing that the anti-Morsi and secular crowds far outnumber the Morsi supporters? Morsi even offered concessions, in view of the protests. But he's too late I wager.

It is too bad to hear your economy not going to anywhere, so are many others'.

However, there says that people say they are the so-called superpower.
It was then when there were not that larger populations, that many bigger economies and militaries around the world. Today, when you say you are the superpower, you ought to show to people the many things of superpower nature, including how you would present them with English wording.

There would then look like that superpower is the well-educated people with ability and mental stability. You need to gear up efforts to demonstrate that is so, from everything that you say. As not only that you exhibit knowledge like experts, you should be able to tell that you are the specialists in world matters, which must be proven valuable and crucial as global needs. How can a superpower incriminate public liberty rights in the first place?
While the new world evolves a new phenomena as a huge spectrum of beliefs, philosophy, standpoint of all sorts of jurisdiction based on rules, laws and universal way of rules, can a superpower remain within the diversities of different and many such values on the planet --(for example, to specify the economic standards and values, fit into the new-age planet, obey other countries' laws which give liberty asylum and cultural value of freedom, and not to dictate to others what they need to do according to the free world freedom, etc.)?

As the whole world is uprising, just show the world of the criteria of being a superpower because people are watching and observing.

COULD US STILL BE A SUPERPOWER?

There is no need to read others' wording to come up with an opinion, or copy theirs.

Simply, it might be useful to skip many of those comments writing a line of words like, "What a bozo", "It looks like a son of a gun", "SOB", "BS", or " I am interested in many issues. I want to know the world's affairs", "I would like anyone to give me some enlightening."

However, if you write some English lines like, "Having done many input of matters related to economy, health care, issues concerning global affairs and so on in the past, here is to offer the discussion to enlighten many's minds. Your interests in forging what the direction for this world would be as, need some discussions, whereby some highlights would be given."

Then, there is no dumb soul but somebody speaking out there.

LIBERAL & PROUD [Seems a VERY smart one - NOT mentally ILL] WE'RE BEING COOKED BY GOVERNMENT

Exclusive: Ellen Ratner calls for street protests in 'way we did in the 1960s' I just got back from South Sudan. Most of the country has no access to electricity, let alone the Internet. For those lucky enough to have a cell phone, it is usually charged in the market where smart shopkeepers use a generator to charge the cell phones. Privacy concerns are not huge in a country that uses cell phones sparingly. I came back and reviewed my mountain of email and was shocked at the email from a list serve I subscribe to.

It is like the frog in the cook pot.

When the heat is turned up a bit at a time, the frog doesn't notice he is being cooked.... From IntelliHub on taking a photo of a police station:“Randall Thomas told Photography is Not a Crime he was taking photos to prepare for an upcoming trial stemming from a January arrest in which police deleted his footage after he had recorded them making an abusive arrest.“Not that any of that was the cop’s business who harassed him Saturday for taking photos outside the Police Service Area 3 Housing Bureau in Brooklyn.

“Thomas was placed in a cell and held for almost an hour before he was released with two citations for disorderly conduct, one for blocking traffic, the other for obscene language – as if that is not protected by the First Amendment.

“Regardless, the video Thomas recorded with his smartphone shows he did not block traffic nor use obscene language in his interaction with Officer Soto, which begins at 4:30.” All of these reports are from less than one week’s collection made by Dave Farber’s list serve. We are frogs, and we are being cooked by our government. It’s time to jump out of that pot and organize the good, old-fashioned way we did in the 1960s.

We need our government to hear us, not though cell phone data collection or facial recognition software, but from our protests on the streets.

We’d better do this before they know when we are leaving our houses to go to that demonstration.

Editor’s note: Michael Ackley’s columns may include satire and parody based on current events, and thus mix fact with fiction. He assumes informed readers will be able to tell the difference.

California’s Proposition 8 will remain in the dust bin because its supporters lacked the “standing” to defend it. So ruled a U.S. Supreme Court majority last week, with Chief Justice John Roberts demonstrating the concept of “standing” by balancing on his head while juggling a handsomely bound set of law books. Roberts maintained the dignity of the Court during this gymnastic display by keeping his robes about his ankles with the aid of rubber bands. Proponents of Prop. 8 (defining marriage as the union of a man and a woman) lacked standing, he said, because they didn’t suffer any personal harm when lower courts overturned the voter-approved initiative. Further, he explained,“Once Proposition 8 was approved, it became a duly enacted constitutional amendment. Petitioners have no role – special or otherwise – in its enforcement. They therefore have no ‘personal stake’ in defending its enforcement that is distinguishable from the general interest of every California citizen.” The plaintiffs couldn’t fight for the proposition, he went on, because it was up to elected officials to defend it, and they chose not to. He added that once the district court issued its order in the case,“the respondents no longer had any injury,” a healing of almost biblical proportions. This said, Roberts declared he was proud to have outdone his previous act of judicial contortion – the determination that Obamacare fines were actually taxes. He then mounted a unicycle, balanced while the rest of the court majority climbed aboard – constructing a pyramid surmounted by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg – and trundled off the dais....

Paul Pillar served for 30 years as an analyst at the CIA, finishing his career as the national intelligence officer for the Near East and South Asia.
Question: At least the way the story is told by [journalist] Bob Woodward, is that even then the president is asking Rumsfeld to begin war plans.[Counterterrorism expert] Richard Clarke reports that [there is] lots of conversation about "Let's get ready." That's the fall [of 2001]. You're the Middle East guy for the Central Intelligence Agency, and you're not receiving any formal requests, any requests for information, any intelligence requests?...
Pillar
I did not receive any requests from a policy-maker on Iraq until about a year into the war. Now, this is to be distinguished from our military, which was doing a lot of the planning work and making many, many requests, usually at other levels, but some of my colleagues in the National Intelligence Council were involved in supporting the military planning. But no, I did not.
Q
A year into the war meaning when?
Pillar
Meaning close to mid-2004.... Remember, things like the infamous National Intelligence Estimate [NIE] on weapons of mass destruction, which was published in the fall of 2002, that was not requested by the administration; that was requested by Congress.
Q
Wait a minute. The Bush administration, the vice president, president, did not ever ask the Central Intelligence Agency for an intelligence assessment?
Pillar
I want to be precise. From my seat on the National Intelligence Council,... not just the CIA but the entire intelligence community,... no, I did not receive any request on Iraq.... There were other requests being made, from DIA to CIA, particularly by the military as they faced their very awesome job of planning.
Q
But not the vice president?
Pillar
No, sir.
Q
Not the president? Not the national security adviser?
Pillar
The course had already been set.

Do you know when World War One (The Great War) ended? October 2010!!! How about the Korean War? It hasn't!!! When did the Persian Gulf War end? Come on now, when did the Persian Gulf War END???
There are only two ways any war ends. When there is a Peace Treaty or when one side Capitulates. The combat of WWI was suspended on Nov. 11, 1917 but ended when war reparations were finally paid in Oct. 2010.
If You Must Know
Why Did World War I Just End?
By Claire Suddath Monday, Oct. 04, 2010
World War I ended over the weekend. Germany made its final reparations-related payment for the Great War on Oct. 3, nearly 92 years after the country's defeat by the Allies. That's not to say that Germany has been paying its dues consistently over the decades; the country defaulted on its loans many times and the current payouts have only been happening since the 1990s. What took Germany so long to pay for the war? Didn't World War I end long ago? Does this mean we're all survivors of the Great War?
Not quite. Germany's last $94 million payment issued on Sunday isn't a direct reparations settlement but rather the final sum owed on bonds that were issued between 1924 and 1930 and sold to foreign (mostly American) investors but then never paid. The story of German reparations involves several payment plans, years of inflation, broken promises, canceled debts and a man named Adolf Hitler who flat out refused to give anyone anything.
