Trent Lott, Ronald Reagan and Republican Racism
Dec. 14, 2002 / http://tinyurl.com/d9w75
Southern Strategy: The race question has haunted Reagan and the GOP for decades
The same could be said, of course, about such Republican heroes as, Barry Goldwater, Richard Nixon or George Bush the elder, all of whom used coded racial messages to lure disaffected blue collar and Southern white voters away from the Democrats. Yet it's with Reagan, who set a standard for exploiting white anger and resentment rarely seen since George Wallace stood in the schoolhouse door, that the Republican's selective memory about its race-baiting habit really stands out.

No tears for Reagan
June 8, 2004 / http://tinyurl.com/558r6l
Excuse me if I don’t shed any tears over the passing of former President Ronald Reagan. While the news of the 40th president’s death brought on a flood of sentimentality over the nation’s media this past weekend, I could not help but recall what the Reagan presidency really meant for Black Americans. Similar to what occurred upon the death of Richard Nixon, amnesia has set upon journalists as they recall Reagan’s era; choosing to indulge in idol worship rather than serious reflection on the former president’s policies.

Ronald Reagan: The Great White Redeemer
http://tinyurl.com/6jljhm / June 10 2004
Only 12 years elapsed between the glorious military victory over the Confederate Slave States in 1865 and the definitive defeat of Reconstruction in 1877. In many important respects, the Reconstruction period was even briefer than that. By 1870, when the last of the southern states ratified the 15th Amendment to the Constitution, Tennessee had already rejected biracial democracy and installed an all-white “Redeemer” government.“Redemption” then swept through Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.

Reagan's heart of darkness
June 9, 2004 / http://tinyurl.com/28ytj
PRESIDENT Bush proclaimed: "Ronald Reagan believed that God takes the side of justice and that America has a special calling to oppose tyranny and defend freedom." In the first three days of news reports on the death of the former president, not a single major American newspaper, television station, or politician has dared to exhume this counterpoint to the Reagan's legacy: "Immoral, evil, and totally un-Christian."

Reagan, White As Snow
http://tinyurl.com/6lujee
Last week, as we’ve heard, the Republican presidential candidates praised the name and heritage of Ronald Reagan 40 times during the televised Show and Tell at the Reagan Presidential Library. That none of them mentioned Reagan’s legacy of white supremacy and support for apartheid is a little like invoking Jefferson Davis and not mentioning treason or slavery. Actually, a lot like it.
Ronald Reagan was a white supremacist to his very core, and left enough traces over his lengthy political career so that it’s evident for anyone who cares to look—which apparently few do.
Domestically, he opposed every legislative remedy for African Americans, betraying a meanness of spirit and an open racism. As Sidney Blumenthal wrote in The Guardian in 2003:/ http://www.tompaine.com/articles/2007/05/08/r...

How to turn Congress Inc. back to just Congress
May 12, 2010 / http://tinyurl.com/23u8stc
What is the biggest scandal of 2010 so far?
Allegations of fraudulent misrepresentation from Goldman Sachs? An oil spill that poses a threat to our environment and economy for generations? Mining operators freely ignoring safety violations and treating workers as disposable?
Each of these is bad. But perhaps the biggest political scandal is the one that aids and abets these others -- the pay-to-play system that buys up Congress, pollutes our political system with special-interest cash and deep-sixes the kind of bold reform agenda that we voted for and need.
The health-care industry has contributed more than $200 million to congressional candidates in the 2008 and 2010 election cycles, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Is it any wonder that there was no public option in the final bill, or that Medicare isn't able to negotiate lower drug prices for seniors the same way the Veterans Administration does for veterans?

Oh, I just ordered an electronic ignition system for my plane. They were just approved by the FAA a few months ago and are approved for four and six cylinder Lycoming engines.
But the FAA also requires a STC for every plane type so I will have to install it, test fly it and then wait for the FAA to bless it. Until it is blessed I can fly my plane in the experimental category which means I can not fly for hire (commercially)(but I don't anyway) and I can have only one passenger so the other two seats will have to remain empty.
They will replace just one of the magnetos with the electronic ignition system but I still expect a 2-3% gain in horsepower, a 2-3 knot gain in cruise speed and a 15% increase in fuel milage.
Right now my plane has a no-wind range of about 900 miles and I should have about a 1035 mile range and still have a 45 minute fuel reserve. It is right at 1000 miles from Jacksonville, FL to Salina, KS so unless I have a head wind I should be able to fly none stop.

Oh, my plane runs on 100LL (Low Lead) AvGas. they also have an 80/87UL but I can't use it. Now Lycoming has just approved my engine for 91/98UL but there is no 91/98UL AvGas yet.
They have been trying to get the lead out of AvGas but there are to many planes that will never be able to use fuel that is under 100 octane. My engine is not turbocharged and those that are may have to de-tune their engines so a plane with a turbocharged 350 hp may end up with only 325 hp and then that may also reguire you to reduce the plane's weight.
Auto gas usually has too high of a vapor pressure because it has to much napthan in the mix. And of course it will also have to be alcohol free.

You may remember this airliner crash at Heathrow back in 2008.
Heathrow crash plane 'just dropped'
LONDON, England (CNN)-- Air crash investigators are trying to work out why a Boeing 777 landed short of the runway at London Heathrow airport, skidding on grass and ripping apart sections of the aircraft.

An investigator who has been briefed on the incident told CNN the plane's captain "is claiming there wasn't power when he needed it."

Passenger Paul Venter told the UK Press Association: "The wheels came out and went for touchdown, and the next moment we just dropped. I couldn't tell you how far."

London ambulance services said 17 people suffered minor injuries, and the number could increase as several others are still being assessed.

Images showed the Boeing 777 -- BA flight 38 from Beijing, China -- grounded on tarmac after touching down several hundred meters short of the airport's south runway, close to a perimeter road, with its emergency chutes deployed and white fire-fighting foam covering the engines.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/01/17/he...
Both engines stall on short final and it touched down just short of the runway. The accident board blamed Rolls Royce saying the engine fuel filters were clogged with ice. But not long after that they had another jet, also with the same engines, also stalled but at a higher altitude and they regained full power just before landing.
But these two planes had more in common than just the same engines. They had both come out of .... China!!! I think they had fuel with to much water in it!
Yep, you can't park on a cloud and wait for the mechanic!

McCain’s Constitutional Dilemma: Native Son But Not Natural Born?
February 29, 2008 / http://tinyurl.com/2am7hd
John McCain’s possible election could trigger review under an obscure part of the Constitution: the birth eligibility provision of Article II. The requirement that an American be “natural-born” has long been controversial, but few associated John McCain with the problem as opposed to other leaders like Arnold Schwarzenegger. McCain, however, may be a foreign born citizen given his birth in the Canal Zone. Due to the bar on advisory opinions, this issue might not be ripe for review until after the general election, triggering another Bush v. Gore moment in the high court. Ted Olson has even been retained for the possible fight to complete the scene for a Supreme redux.
McCain was born in 1936 in the Panama Canal Zone while his father was stationed there as a naval officer. In 1787, however, the framers insisted that any president be natural born — that is, born within the United States. It is a requirement that some of us have long criticized as counter to our tradition as a nation of immigrants

Subject: LIST OF TRAITORS
Over the weekend, we came four votes away from the United States Senate giving our Constitutional rights over to the United Nations. In a 53-46 vote, the senate narrowly passed a measure that will stop the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.
The Statement of Purpose from the bill read:
To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.
The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on the import and export of small firearms. The ban would have affected all private gun owners in the U.S., and had language that would have implemented an international gun registry on all private guns and ammo.
Astonishingly, 46 of our United States Senators were willing to give away our Constitutional rights to a foreign power.
Here are the 46 senators that voted to give your rights to the U.N.
Baldwin (D-WI)
Baucus (D-MT)
Bennet (D-CO)
Blumenthal (D-CT)

Oh, only a few refineries make leaded aviation fuel. They usually make it when the are switching to and from winter/summer blends. Because after they make the leaded fuel they must purge (clean) it out of the whole system before they resume making auto gasoline.
I too would like to see leaded fuel to be phased out but it does not look like if will be 100%
Oh, and 91/98 octane is 94.5 averaged octane. Almost gone are the very big piston aircraft engines used during and after WWII. Many used 115/145 octane which was very high in lead. So much that the spark plugs would have to be changed once a month. And they had some plane that had four 27 cylinder engines each one with two spark plugs and that means there was 216 spark plugs and these days aviation spark plugs are $25 a piece or $5,400 just for new plugs not to mention the mechanics fees!!! Yep, once a month!!!!

You are right McCain was born in the Canal Zone (A US Territory) to US Citizens, but Obama was born in the US as a citizen of his father's nation, the United Kingdom. This made Obama ineligible for citizenship in the US.
Has Obama ever been naturalized, I don't think so, this would mean we have an alien sitting in the White House.

“In light of recent debates on comprehensive immigration reform, we are writing to address a rarely-discussed effect of granting legal status or effective amnesty to illegal immigrants,” the three Civil Rights Commission members wrote.“Such grant of legal status will likely disproportionately harm lower-skilled African-Americans by making it more difficult for them to obtain employment and depressing their wages when they do obtain employment."
