Yup, the height of ignorance.

Let's say I have a choice between straight and gay. I live in Saudi Arabia where gays are executed. Bad choice. Or I lived during the Inquisition where gays were burned at the stake. Bad choice. Or I lived in Canada or the US or Europe where, as little as 30 years ago, society would shun me, humiliate me, and I could never get the lowest security clearance allowing me to work for the govt or defence-related firms. Well, GB, you tell me why anyone would be fool enough, under the aforementioned circunstances, to choose homosexuality. Have you never heard of the Y and X chromosones?

Ships Costing U.S.$37 Billion Lack Firepower, Navy Told

The U.S. Navys troubled Littoral Combat Ship, a vessel intended to be small and speedy for use in shallow waters close to shore, lacks the firepower it needs, a top U.S. navy commander said in a classified memo.

Vice Admiral Tom Copeman, the commander of naval surface forces, called on the Navy to consider a ship with more offensive capability after the first 24 vessels are built, according to a Navy official who asked not to be identified discussing the confidential document.

Copemans memo, prepared late last year at the request of Admiral Jonathan Greenert, the chief of naval operations, indicates the Navy may be starting to re-examine the $37 billion program. A review could lead to an eventual redesign of the ship or the development of an entirely new vessel.

Hes raising issues which no one with active-duty stars on their shoulders has said before, said Norman Polmar, an independent naval analyst and author whos spoken to Navy officials about Copemans memo.Hes not playing the total party line. I think it will have an impact on people expressing their views.

Producing a ship that can accommodate larger guns or Harpoon anti-ship missiles would be a major redesign, Polmar said in an interview. It will be real work to put major weapons on the ship.

The Littoral Combat Ship -- derided by critics inside the Navy as the Little Crappy Ship-- has been beset by troubles since 2005 as the price doubled to $440 million per vessel

Two Versions

Two versions are now being built: A steel-hulled vessel made in Marinette, Wisconsin, by a team led by Lockheed Martin Corp.(LMT)(LMT), and an aluminum trimaran built in Mobile, Alabama, by a group led by Austal Ltd.(ASB)(ASB) Lockheeds first ship developed a crack in the hull, and Austals vessel had corrosion problems.

Conceived in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the ship was designed to replace aging frigates and other vessels. Its intended to perform missions such as clearing mines, hunting submarines, interdicting drugs and providing humanitarian relief.

Nothing has haunted the LCS more than the perception that both variants are too lightly armed and may not survive an enemy attack. The Pentagons chief weapons tester has cited flaws with the ships guns and concluded that its helicopter isnt powerful enough to tow mine-hunting equipment.

The ship is not expected to be survivable in that it is not expected to maintain mission capability after taking a significant hit in a hostile combat environment, Michael Gilmore, the weapons tester, said in a January report.

Designed for Speed

Until now, Navy officials have maintained that the ship has sufficient defenses to perform its missions while working in tandem with the rest of a battle group.

These ships are designed for speed, Rear Admiral Tom Eccles, deputy commander for naval systems engineering at the Naval Sea Systems Command, said at a Surface Navy Association conference in January.Theyre designed to be in the fight and then get out of the fight when its required.

Copemans assessment suggests that the Navy may rethink that strategy. In a speech at the same Navy association conference, Copeman spoke publicly about the possibility of creating a Super LCS, likening it to the evolution in fighter jets from the F/A-18 Hornet to the Super Hornet. The newer plane is a larger version of the aircraft built by Chicago-based Boeing Co.(BA), with longer range and more endurance than its predecessor.

The vice admirals memo calls for a vessel that can operate independently rather than traveling under the protection of better-armed ships, according to a government official familiar with the document who isnt in the Navy and asked to not be identified.

Were Out-Gunned

Its born of this nagging fear in the surface warfare community and elsewhere that were out-gunned by the Chinese, who have a series of surface-to-surface missiles, said Bryan McGrath, a retired naval officer who commanded a destroyer.

Outfitting the LCS with heavy-duty missiles or guns would add weight, and additional weight means a loss in both speed and endurance, said McGrath, a critic of the Littoral Combat Ship who is director of consulting at Delex Systems Inc. in Herndon, Virginia.

The Navy projects that the $37 billion program will buy 52 ships. Of those, four have been built and the Navy has agreed to buy 20 more through 2015.

Were committed to 52 LCSs, Captain Danny Hernandez, chief spokesman for Greenert, the chief of naval operations, said when asked about Copemans memo.

Thoughtful Look

Lockheed, based in Bethesda, Maryland, is building its Littoral Combat Ships in partnership with Marinette Marine Corp., a subsidiary of Fincantieri SpA, based in Trieste, Italy. The other version is made by Austal, based in Henderson, Australia, in partnership with Falls Church, Virginia-based General Dynamics Corp.(GD)

Greenert requested the memo from Copeman, which was entitled Vision for the 2025 Surface Fleet and was previously reported by Defense News. The comments on the LCS are three paragraphs in a 10-page document on the future of the Navys surface fleet.

He appreciated the thoughtful look he gave into the future, Hernandez said of Greenerts reaction to the memo. He said the Navy chief considered Copemans proposals to be interesting and useful.

Those who have read Copemans recommendation offered differing interpretations of the changes he envisions. While the Navy official who asked to not be identified said the current LCS designs could be revised, the other government official said the proposed changes would amount to developing a new type of ship.

Offensive Power

Theres inexpensive ways, less expensive ways, to dramatically increase the offensive power of our surface fleet, I think, without spending hundred, tens and tens of millions of dollars on research and development and come up with new classes of ships, Copeman said in the January speech, according to a transcript.I think we can look at what weve got, and what weve got on the drawing boards right now, and take great advantage of that.

Copemans memo didnt discuss whether one of the two current designs should be scrapped or whether just one version should be used as the base model for future improvements, the Navy official said.

Building both versions of the ship, which have different designs and parts, adds about $400 million in operating and maintenance costs over the lifetime of the vessels, according to Rear Admiral James Murdoch, who oversees the ships procurement.

Judge Andrew Napolitano says Bush and Cheney should be prosecuted for crimes against the United States Constitution.

Lies The Government Told You

Author: Judge Andrew Napolitano / http://tinyurl.com/ykdwxlc /
Judge Andrew Napolitano has created a great book with Lies The Government Told You. He has put into writing what many of us have long suspectedour government has been lying to use for years about almost everything it has ever done. If you think our government is crooked and power hungry, you will realize just how crooked it is when you read this book. Lies The Government Told You is scary as hell to be truthful. I didnt find a single thing that I disagreed with. Its almost unbelievable how far our Nation has moved from the Constitution. While I dont watch much news anymore (I find most so called journalists to be either too frightened or too stupid to ask real questions that actually matter) I see enough to keep up with the major stories. I was glad to see Napolitano mention the failure of the national media as well in the book. Lies The Government Told You will really open your eyes to how broken our government is, not just because its virtually bankrupt, but because it fails to uphold the constitution and protect the very citizens that fund it. You will also learn that the Federal Reserve isnt a federal entity. Its a private corporation that controls all our money with little or no oversight. There used to be a joke that if Alan Greenspan happened to comment how nasty a rainy day was, the stock market would drop fifty points. It doesnt sound far-fetched when you realize how much power the Federal Reserve actually has. I wold love to see this book as required reading in any government class. It truly does open your mind to the countless ways we as citizens have failed to protect our own freedoms by allowing such actions to occur time and time again. If you can still vote for most politicians after reading this, I can only hope they have also read the book. All Americans should be both shocked and ashamed at our government for these lies. We should remember these actions the next time we vote, though another big problem is the lack of choices on the ballot. Lets be honest, how many times have you voted for the lesser of two evils? I highly recommend this book for everyone. If millions read it and understand how far we have fallen, maybe there is still hope that we can get our government and our constitutional rights back.

ARE YOU INSANE?

Judge Andrew Napolitano says Bush and Cheney should be prosecuted for crimes against the United States Constitution.

The Libertarian commentator debates politics, history and what he considers to be the unconstitutional behavior of both the Bush and Obama administrations, with consumer advocate and four-time presidential candidate Ralph Nader.
http://tinyurl.com/2bl7gjm / June 2, 2010
Well, this is something you don't see every day. Ralph Nader hosted this interview segment with Fox News' Judge Andrew Napolitano and discussed his book, Lies the Government Told You. I'm surprised the judge is going to be allowed on Fox after making the statements he did about Bush and Cheney during the interview.

Nader: What's the sanction for President Bush and Vice President Cheney?

Napolitano: There's been no sanction except what history will say about them.

Nader: What should be the sanctions?

Napolitano: They should have been indicted. They absolutely should have been indicted for torturing, for spying, for arresting without warrants. I'd like to say they should be indicted for lying but believe it or not, unless you're under oath, lying is not a crime. At least not an indictable crime. It's a moral crime.

Nader: So you think George W. Bush and Dick Cheney should even though they've left office, they haven't escaped the criminal laws, they should be indicted and prosecuted?

Napolitano: The evidence in this book and in others, our colleague the great Vincent Bugliosi has amassed an incredible amount of evidence. The purpose of this book was not to amass that evidence but I do discuss it, is overwhelming when you compare it to the level of evidence required for a normal indictment that George W. Bush as President and Dick Cheney as Vice President participated in criminal conspiracies to violate the federal law and the guaranteed civil liberties of hundreds, maybe thousands of human beings
