Noam Chomsky: How Climate Change Became a 'Liberal Hoax'
February 9, 2011 / http://tinyurl.com/4kn84dx
In this sixth video in the series “Peak Oil and a Changing Climate” from The Nation and On The Earth Productions, linguist, philosopher and political activist Noam Chomsky talks about the Chamber of Commerce, the American Petroleum Institute and other business lobbies enthusiastically carrying out campaigns “to try and convince the population that global warming is a liberal hoax.” According to Chomsky, this massive public relations campaign has succeeded in leading a good portion of the population into doubting the human causes of global warming.
Known for his criticism of the media, Chomsky doesn't hold back in this clip, laying blame on mainstream media outlets such as the New York Times, which will run frontpage articles on what meteorologists think about global warming.“Meteorologists are pretty faces reading scripts telling you whether it’s going to rain tomorrow," Chomsky says. "What do they have to say any more than your barber?” All this is part of the media’s pursuit of “fabled objectivity.”
Of particular concern for Chomsky is the atmosphere of anger, fear and hostility that currently reigns in America. The public’s hatred of Democrats, Republicans, big business and banks and the public’s distrust of scientists all lead to general disregard for the findings of “pointy-headed elitists.” The 2010 elections could be interpreted as a “death knell for the species” because most of the new Republicans in Congress are global warming deniers.“If this was happening in some small country," Chomsky concludes, "it wouldn’t matter much. But when it’s happening in the richest, most powerful country in the world, it’s a danger to the survival of the species.”

Just go to any prison or jail and that will answer your question. I would also say that 90% of all people who use or abuse alcohol and drugs also use tobacco. Case in point is Rush Limbaugh who smokes cigars.
If I was a business own, I would not hire anyone who uses tobacco products. Not that I object to the use of a lawful substance but, like I said, people who use tobacco are much more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol.
You've been to prison or jail? Visitor or tenant? And you copiously jotted down facts and numbers and syntesised them?

From 1984 on, I never hired a smoker. They told me it was unconstitutional. I said "sue me". And it was not because I thought they did drugs, I just don't like smokers. They stink, take too much time off for smoke breaks, get nervous and screw everything up when in need of a weed, and give all of us heart attacks an cancer. Screw 'em.

I am still looking for the complaint filed by black members of the Secret Service that they were not allow to be with in ten feet of Owl Gore and no two black SS agents were allowed to stand next to each other in his presence.

Here is one from yesterday, Rogue. Not quite THE one, but it's one of several.
Jacques Ottawa wrote:

I don't have to put up such a sign. It is automatically gun-free, as hand pistols are not allowed unless there is a real good valid reason for it. Neither are assault weapons, except the ones found in Toronto and Vancouver that have been sneaked across the border illegally.
We've had 3 murders so far in Ottawa this year, a city of 900,000 souls. One is a mother who stabbed her two babies to death and the other the result of a brawl in front of a drinking hole, another stabbing. One killed, two wounded. In the U.S. there would've been 3 killed, all by guns.
Yup, 3 murders none by guns, 2 months gone for 2013. Oh, authorities are worried, they say we have too many killings. We had 7 last year. Almost a million population. Oh, I remember now why that is. Your bosom buddy LRS said it's because we have more or better morals. I can find that post where he wrote that if you want or he wants, it was yesterday. Oh, if I reproduce it, he'll delete it. Never mind. But thanks, hey, we are a nice gang up here. LMAO (LRS tm reg'd)

Er, Rogue, I didn't exclude any Ottawa district.
Tell us, now, how many gun killings in Jacksonville last year, including her district? Once you've apprised us of that total, you may then partition them by district. We had 7 in 2012, of which TWO (2) were gun killings. Drug dealers. Good riddance. All districts. You?
Oh, and please tell us total murders in Jacksonville, and how many gun killings.
Any comments on the carjacker who killed 4 innocent people in southern California yesterday or day before? All killed with firearm(s). Surprise.

Another one, Rogue. Third one from yesterday. "Oh, Jacques still hasn't answered my question on why Washington-Chicago blah blah blah" or words to that effect.
Jacques Ottawa wrote:
<quoted text>
I remarked, not stated, that the reason Chicago has such a high rate of gun deaths in SPITE of gun controls (weakened by Supreme court's decision on 2nd Amendment) is because Chicago is totally surrounded by cities and neighbouring states that have no gun control, so that guns are simply brought into Chicago. I got that information from the Toronto Globe and Mail newspaper (conservative but well-written paper) that did a comparison between Chicago's gun control measures and Toronto's (much stronger) measures and how, in each case, they are both victims of gun owners who just bring them in from outside, in Toronto's case, easily smuggled across the border.
But, Rogue, you asked for a source for this, first time you did, and you've got a reply. A reply with the newspaper reference but not really required as any invetigative reporter worth his salt will come up with the same result I did.
Now, still awaiting those 4 requests for proof from yesterday (leave your poor uncle out of this, please) and your acknowledgement that I've proven at least ten times, with documented proof, that the F-14 flew in Vietnam in a combat role.

How about this one of mine, Rogue? READ where it says COMBAT.
Jacques Ottawa wrote:
<quoted text>
Now read, sick liar. From your revered Wikipedia, another one. How many do you need? How much proof do you require?
American withdrawal from Saigon (1975), Wikipedia
Main article: Operation Frequent Wind

Read the 5th word, 1st sentence, COMBAT.

The Tomcat made its COMBAT debut during Operation Frequent Wind, the evacuation of American citizens from Saigon, in April 1975. F-14As from Fighter Squadron 1 (VF-1) and VF-2, operating from the USS Enterprise (CVN-65), flew combat air patrols over South Vietnam to provide fighter cover for the evacuation route.[2]
Keep twisting in the wind, ex-fly boy. What is a combat mission? Military transport aircraft have to be escorted. Why? Oh, well, you never know, we might encounter bogies. Oh, I see. And if we do, and we had figthers like F-14s escorting us, that would be combat, right? Why do the transports need escorts? Oh, right again, they may be attacked. But,(playing devil's advocate here, look it up in Google, Rogue), what if there are no enemy fighters, then it's not a combat mission, right? Well, when you go out on a sortie in wartime and expect to meet opposition but you don't, is it not still a combat mission? ROGUE, you wrote "The F-14's did fly cover for aircraft like our cargo planes, C-141, C-r and C-130". Well, isn't that like, a combat mission? Anyhow, it IS a combat mission, but know what? I never said they flew in combat, though they did. I just said they flew, they were used in Vietnam near the end of the conflict, as noted in every proof I gave.
You're full of it, Rogue, you're a sick tortured liar, this is the 3rd or 4th time, minimum, you've lied TODAY, like the last one saying you supplied all 4 proofs. Laughable. You know, I know, we know, they know you did not supply any proof. You're such a sick specimen, you've even escalated your lying by lying about your lies.

Military Panel: Climate Change Threatens U.S. National Security
WASHINGTON, DC, April 16, 2007 (ENS)/ http://tinyurl.com/2p8mhs
- Global climate change presents a serious national security threat that could affect Americans at home, impact U.S. military operations, and heighten global tensions, finds a study released today by a blue-ribbon panel of 11 of the most senior retired U.S. admirals and generals.
Climate change, national security and energy dependence are a related set of global challenges that will add to tensions even in stable regions of the world, found the panel, known as the Military Advisory Board.
"We will pay for this one way or another," said retired Marine Corps General Anthony Zinni, former commander of U.S. forces in the Middle East. "We will pay to reduce greenhouse gas emissions today, and we'll have to take an economic hit of some kind. Or, we will pay the price later in military terms. And that will involve human lives. There will be a human toll."
"The U.S. should commit to a stronger national and international role to help stabilize climate changes at levels that will avoid significant disruption to global security and stability," the Military Advisory Board recommends.
Retired U.S. Marine Corps General Anthony Zinni is a former Commander in Chief of U.S. Central Command.

Retired U.S. Army General Gordon Sullivan is a former Army chief of staff.

Retired Navy Vice Admiral Richard Truly was NASA administrator from 1989 to 1992 and then served as director of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

Retired Admiral Joseph Lopez is one of two flag officers in the history of the U.S. Navy who have achieved four-star rank after direct commission from enlisted service.

Retired Air Force General Charles "Chuck" Wald is a command pilot with more than 430 combat hours over Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Iraq and Bosnia.

Retired Navy Admiral Joseph Prueher was U.S. ambassador to China from November 1999 to May 2001.

Retired Vice Admiral Paul G. Gaffney II now is the president of Monmouth University in New Jersey.

What's really sad about the Ohio story is that to a large degree it is the fault of inept election officials. When I vote early or request an absentee ballot that should be (and in most States is) noted on the roll. Were I to show up on Election Day and request a ballot almost any poll worker would then immediately tell me that the records indicated I had already voted. Ohio was so busy trying to limit early voting to Tepublican only areas they certainly didn't want to impose any safeguards against multiple votes
