Don't give me the sentimental 9/11 story on this via the New York Post,(trashy and lying Rupert Murdoch tabloid, YOUR kind of newspaper) it has nothing to do with pure business transactions. To bring up 9/11 in such a case is to demean and cheapen the victims and all the carnage that ensued.

Laws almost always create unanticipated consequences. This is certainly likely to be the case when politicians bend over backwards to accommodate the currents of political correctness.
ObamaCare uses the Social Security language of the Internal Revenue Code to determine who is eligible for “religious conscience” objection to the insurance mandate. Specifically, the law provides exemptions for adherents of “recognized religious sects” that are “conscientiously opposed” to accepting benefits from any insurance, public or private.
As a consequence of this provision, Muslims may claim a religious exemption that is denied Christians and Jews. Since Islam believes insurance is haraam (forbidden) and likens insurance to gambling, the religion is excluded from requirements, mandates, or penalties set forth in the bill. Others who fall into this category are the Amish, American Indians, and Christian Scientists. Although the U.S. Constitution grants all Americans equal protection of the law, some Americans are more equal than others.

Remember last night when you said Muslims were exempt from ObamaCare?

Yea, I do. I sure handed you your ass on a plate. I noticed that right after I did so, you disappeared. We haven't forgotten how you made yourself look like a fool.

You are no Canadian.
You're a fraud.
Why don't you enlighten these people how long you'd have to wait to get surgery if you had breast cancer?
Who decides that for you? Is it a board of nurses or a board of doctors?
Does the health system in Canada pay for your tooth care, and what about your eye care as well?
Can you expect the Canadian health care system to pay for a sex change?
How long can you expect to wait in the waiting room to see a doctor in the emergency room?
I am sure if you are a true Canadian, you can answer these questions, can't you?
Now, on the subject of illegals.
What determines whether a person is illegal or not?
How long do illegals have to wait to be deported?
Are they allowed back into Canada, or do they have to wait to come back?
1. I am Canadian. My ancestors go back to the late-early 17th-18th century. But that is of no significance, because if you don't want to believe it, nothing I can do about it;
2. Breast cancer? My brother had brain and lung cancer. It took about 3 days to receive the necessary chemotherapy with surgery a month later, a few days after chemo was over. He died anyhow, no one recovers from lung and brain cancer. My sister-in-law had double breast cancer, was looked after from day 1 of detection, is in remission. Not looking for sympathy here, no way, just illustrating how it goes. Oh, cost : ZERO. There are horror cases where action is not swift enough after detection of ANY illness, System is far from perfect, and needs much tweeting. But doctors, clinics, hospitals, are there for ANY Canadian and no one goes through his/her wallet to locate a Visa card;
3. ONLY the doctor decides for us. Check it out. Whether for a visit, referral to a specialist, drugs and medication, exams, analyses or surgery, and hospital stay, ONLY the attending physicians decide and approve. There is no board, and no one to ask permission from as you have with insurance companies in the U.S. The only exception is drugs, they have to be approved as a whole by the Health board as a matter of policy, not individually. If you feel you are unjustly treated because such and such a drug is not approved for you, you may appeal. But, except for new new drugs, it's rare;
4,5. Tooth and eye care. Dentists and eye care are not covered by our govt plan. They should be. However, all mun, prov and fed civil servants are indeed covered, aas per most companies, premium about $20 per month, coverage is 80% of doctor's fee. It is estimated that 75% of Canadians are covered for the aforementioned;
6. Sex changes are paid for, but they do have to go through a board as we are talking elective surgery here, with psychological ramifications. Even allowed for prisoners which I think is stupid;
7. Wait in emergency room to see a doctor? In Québec,(health plans are provincial in Canada) 15 to 30 hours. Scandalous. In other provinces, average waiting time is 6-10 hours. However, there are private clinics all over that are covered 100% by govt health plan. According to reports, they are not used enough and they could alleviate the pressure on Hospital E.R.s. Not perfect, ER care, but it works nonetheless and don't forget, better to get it free, to be obtainable than not even having the option to wait albeit long because of no health coverage.

ILLEGALS :

a) Determination ? Board of immigration appeals. They decide and decision can be appealed right up to superior court;
b) Any illegal has to merely step on Canadian soil and he is not deportable. Process will take as long as 5 years before deportation order is given. It's crazy, I'm totally against that. Should not take 5 yrs to determine eligibility;
c) In some cases, they can re-apply, yes, specially where humane factors are proven or if repatriation to their home country poses a danger.

Satisfied? Was that quick enough to prove I have not even googled my reply or checked anywhere? I have good knowledge of my country and my counbtry's legislation, as I have of yours.

Our health laws are far from perfect. And do no forget, we are in a tight fiscal situation now, as are you. Dollars are important and the health programme is expensive. No cuts so far, but some beds have been closed. Not good. But Sioux, Canada and the U.S. are members of the OECD. 34 richest countries. All but one, the US, have universal health care plans. Are the other 34 poorer because of those plans? I think not. Where does the U.S. stand as refers to life expectancy out of 34? Childbirth deaths, where does it stand? I won't tell you, don't want to rile you, but look them up. Does perhaps lack of universal health care have anything to do with it? No free preventive medicine,,no ER visits unless danger of death, and even then, you may be ruined for life, unable to purchase expensive drugs. Anyhow, when universal health care was introduced in Canada in 1965, politicians received death threats, doctors rebelled, government was locked in fillibusters, and 2/3 of population was against it. Well, ask the population what it thinks today, in spite of non-perfect health care.

Please pardon the typos in both posts, I did not re-read either.

Despite the fact that Senator Howard's opinion is not controlling, he didn't believe children born in the US of alien parents were subject to a foreign power. Indeed, he believed that such children were born citizens of the United States.
“They became such in virtue of national law, or rather natural law which recognizes persons born within the jurisdiction of every country as being subjects or citizens of that country. Such persons were, therefore, citizens of the United States as were born in the country or were made by naturalization.” Senator Jacob Howard, Cong. Globe 39th Cong., 1st Sess, 2765 (1866).
“A citizen of the United States is held by the courts to be a person who was born within the limits of the United States and subject to their laws.” Senator Jacob Howard, Cong. Globe 39th Cong., 1st Sess, 2765 (1866).
<quoted text>
If Howard's words are not controlling, why do you post them so much?
Howard was correct! Aliens born here are not subject to the jurisdiction of the Constitution.
