Wong Wing v. U.S.(1896)
Citing Yick Wo v. Hopkins, the Court, in the case of Wong Wing v. US, further applied the citizenship-blind nature of the Constitution to the 5th and 6th amendments, stating "... it must be concluded that all persons within the territory of the United States are entitled to the protection guaranteed by those amendments, and that even aliens shall not be held to answer for a capital or other infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law."

Plyler v. Doe (1982)
In Plyler v. Doe, the Supreme Court struck down a Texas law prohibiting enrollment of illegal aliens in public school. In its decision, the Court held, "The illegal aliens who are plaintiffs in these cases challenging the statute may claim the benefit of the Equal Protection Clause, which provides that no State shall 'deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.' Whatever his status under the immigration laws, an alien is a 'person' in any ordinary sense of that term… The undocumented status of these children vel non does not establish a sufficient rational basis for denying them benefits that the State affords other residents."

Letters sent from Nazi labor camp delivered 70 years later

This love story involves a man sent to a Nazi labor camp in World War II, his family back in France, and an antique letter collector—and die-hard romantic—in the United States who reunited the lost notes with the family.
Here's the story: Marcel Heuzé, a French tool worker, was deported to a German work camp in 1942 during the war. He built engines, armored vehicles and tanks at the Daimler-Benz factory, from where he sent letters back home to his wife and three daughters.
Many apparently never made it to their intended recipients, probably intercepted by German censors. By chance, an American, Carolyn Porter, spotted the French missives in an antiques store in Minnesota. What caught her eye were the French terms of endearment—so she bought the batch and had them translated.
According to the Telegraph, the amateur sleuth, with the help of a genealogist, tracked down Heuzé's family, contacted them and turned over the letters to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Heuzé, who was released from the camp in 1944 and returned to his family, died 20 years ago.
Tiffanie Raux, 24, Heuzé's great-granddaughter, said the family was grateful to Porter for her "altruistic" gesture. "It's very American," she said. "I'm not sure people in France would have gone to all that trouble."
For her part, Porter told the publication she had hoped for a happy ending, which she herself delivered.

"In order to let Vice President Biden know just how much we appreciate him, while also making a very silly part of the internet come true (we are the internet after all); let's buy Uncle Joe a Trans Am like the one that is featured in the Onion article," writes the campaign's creator, Bob McCown, who is based in Massachusetts. McCown, perhaps better known as "Hack Patooey," on Fark, worked with some of his colleagues there on the idea, which they first posted here.
And while anyone can set up a farcical fundraising page, this humorous campaign has some very real support. It has received more than $1,000 in financial commitments from more than 80 donors.
