“How could someone commit such a violent crime over a cell phone?”
'This is our Christmas miracle,' his mother, Tina McCray, said. 'This year will be special.'
The 15-year-old honor student left Advocate Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn on Thursday, excited about being home for the holidays to share a big meal with family and to open presents.
It has been a long road for the lanky, bespectacled teenager, who doctors thought would never regain consciousness because of brain injuries he suffered in the June 29 beating. After three months in a coma - a period that included his birthday - he awoke Sept. 28, unable to move. Read more
