"Bidders will include Mark Cuban" -- only ceremoniously -- because this thing is a dirty, done deal. He simply won't be allowed to own the Cubs by Selig and Selig's puppeteer, Jerry Reinsdorf... no matter how high his bid is or how great an advantage his deal can offer to Zell. I don't harp on this because I love Cuban, it's the principle of the whole stinking thing: The best bid won't win, only the anointed bid. Here's hoping Cuban and/or Zell will be smart enough to start yelling loudly about baseball's anti-trust exemption and its perpetually unfair effects.

I've heard rumors were being spread about Cuban having "zero chance" of getting to be the owner. I hate Bud Selig and his retarded thinking. Cuban would be great for the Cubs, and I'll be upset (as I am with just about everything else that happens with the Cubs) if he doesnt win it out.

Either way, I'm ready for another season. Regardless if the post season sucked, they provided a great regular season with a ton of great moments.

Typical Cubs-wait too long to flesh out top dollar on a trade and it backfires.

mark Cuban will always be the only party in this process capable of putting up the kind of money zell is looking for. Too bad MLB is too shortsighted to let that happen

If Cubam soes not get a fair shake, I am done with Baseball DONE.

If Bud Selig's cronie buys the team, I am a Cards fan.

Hey Zell wake up and do what is right, otherwise go down as another Bartman

All of the babbling here thus far shows that none of you understand why MLB takes the stance it does, what the process is for selling a team and most important, how Zell is requiring this deal to be structured which is why, NO, Mark Cuban isn't the only party possible of putting up this kind of money. If you understood the structure of the deal, you would never say that.

At least most of the babblers know how to use punctuation.

Recalling the Tribune article of November 2 (excerpts below), I hope this issue is worked out before the Rickett's family is allowed to bid again on the Cubs.

Today, Halkola is one of hundreds of angry TD Ameritrade customers whose almost $1 billion in assets are frozen in a short-term bond fund called Reserve Yield Plus, a mutual fund managed by The Reserve in New York but largely distributed under a revenue sharing agreement with TD Ameritrade in Omaha.

Clients say TD Ameritrade misrepresented the fund as either an ultrasafe money market fund or something just as secure. And they have cried foul over the relationship between Ameritrade and The Reserve, suggesting it created a conflict of interest.

The episode presents yet another chilling example of how an unprecedented financial crisis has exposed vulnerabilities in even the safest corners of the investment world. But it also raises questions about how the mutual fund industry sells its products and highlights the pitfalls investors can face if they don't pay close attention.

Given the current financial outlook coming to light, Zell's Hopes for a big windfall now seem unrealistic. What is realistic to MLB and Bud is to feel fortunate to have Cuban pursuing the purchase. Can the Ricketts generate enough fan loyalty to keep the crowds pouring through the gates? I think too much attention is given to Reinsdorf, remember this is the guy bringing in championships as a two team owner. He is more like Cuban than he cares to admit but he's got enough brains not to come out publicly as the main opposition. How many Cub fans are major Bulls fans and corporate customers, Do you honestly think given his highly regarded Chicago Land status as a hero owner, he's going to want to have his legacy tarnished as being one of the main figures blackballing the Cubs sale to Sam Zell(a billionare in hi own right). This could be forced into the MLB owners and Sheriff Bud who seemingly and obviously wasn't paying attention;from a bloody client

If a run on sentence is all you have to complain about, then you realize that I am correct.

Obviously they/you do. They care enough to make a post on and discuss an article pertaining to the issue.

I mean, one would have to be a complete m0ron to claim to not care about something, then take the time to go to an internet message board to comment on it.

if the cubs ever going to win a championship let mark cuban buy the chicago cubs and then in 4 years he can dicide if he wants to build them a new stadium a 100 thousand seat stadium some where in the subburbs up north in chicago like 3 hours away from down town chicago or where ever he want.s them to be. im telling you how do you think the dallas mavericks always in the playoffs or the nba finals money he spends money thats what its all about thats why the boston redsox won 2 titels in 4 years because the owner spends money .im telling if the cubs gonna win the worldseries in 2009 mark cuban is the guy to do that for these cubs so we shut those whitesox fans up about 2005 and calling cubs fans losers and whitesox fans winners ok you won 1 game but it takes 11 wins to win it all. this is why i don.t like the whitesox 1.they call the whitesox winners and they haven.t won since 2005 three years ago 2.the north side is where fags be ok it dosn.t matter let them be gay i don.t care 3.the cubs are losers black cats billy goats things like that any body can have a bad centery.and 4. whitesox play in the ghetto where its high crime 5.the whitesox fns is just a real bitch when they see cubs fans

I have been a Cub fan for over 60 years. It that left wing egotistic idiot, Mark Cuban is the owner of the Cubs, I'm out of here. He would probably change the name from the Cubs, to the Cubans.

Yes, your run on sentence is that of a third grader, I also dont recall anyone saying anything about Cuban being the only person able to put up money. That being said....you fail!

I'd be happy to see you leave the Cubs Nation just because Cuban is owner. Bandwagon yourself to the darkside where your attitude fits.
