"Socialist" has been a favorite and ridiculous invective hurled at President Barack Obama almost since he took over from George W. Bush -- the president who nationalized a large chunk of the financial sector.

Military police action, call it what you want. He had to be stopped by force. "Pretty please" wasn't going to work. Zelaya had already ignored the legal and political process.
Obama should be shouting from the rooftops that it was the right thing for the Honduran SC, Congress and military to stand in support of the Honduran people and the constitution. That would put all the other tin pot dictators on notice.
For Obama to say Zelaya should be returned to power is disgraceful. It shows where his true loyalties are, backing leftist dictators in Latin America. Maybe that's because it's what Obama aspires to be.
You speak like you have personal, intimate knowledge of the Honduran constitution, their political and legal processes and their legitimate means for removing a corrupt or unlawful leader. However, I doubt it.

I agree that Obama should be denouncing Zelaya's actions, speaking up for democracy and the rule of law. But condoning the military deposing a leader in the middle of the night, especially in Central or South America is a bit of a stretch.

However, if the Honduran Constitution says that military action to overthrow a leader is warranted and legal in such a situation, I will change my tune.

Australia was not 'born' out of a civil war and it was not built on slavery. Our history is very very different to that of America, as is our present.
Hmmm, like I said on an earlier post, which you chose to ignore, America was not born out of a civil war. It was born out of a revolutionary war with Britain, and the civil war is what held the union together.

And BTW, Australia was built on the backs of penal colony slaves, and the aboriginal people were subjugated and their lands taken from them.

So please don't give me the lily white sanitized version of the noble Australian history..It just isn't so. I can google dozens of links to verify my information, but I'm sure you'd just retreat by saying the information is boring.

You chastised another poster by saying Obama NEVER said troops would be withdrawn from Iraq by the end of 2009. He DID say that. And there's more than one quote of him saying that on that video.
I'll gripe about our socialist in chief all I want, despite your pleas. Especially when dishonest people try to silence the facts by lying. That's what makes America great, voices of dissent.
Don't you worry, his withdrawal schedule will change again, if it hasn't already. And history WILL show this guy to be an unmitigated disaster.
I hope your children will be happy paying for all of his out of control socialist and porkulus plans. When they come griping to you, just tell them that you voted for him and they're wrong.
I was wrong. Please chastise all you like. Your version of history most certainly will. And that is what tax attorneys and CPAs are for. Like Mr. Bush repeatedly said, the rich don't pay taxes.

Say what you will, but you cannot say that us democrats lied or made things up to demand our demands be heard by the Bush administration.
When he made war, we took to the streets.
We always confronted our opponents with facts, like the abuses in Iraqi prisons which were substantiated with pictures and testimony.
We confronted Bush with facts when his people blew the cover on CIA intelligence agent Valerie Plame.
We confronted the Bush administration without compromising our dignity and our humanity, unlike what you cry-babies are doing, smearing his name with all kinds of lies and fabrications.
The has been in office for 5 months, give us a break and let us fix the mess your president left us with.

I don't like chastising. I like discussion of facts that can be validated.

My version of history most certainly will WHAT?

And what do you mean "That's what tax attorneys and CPA's are for"?(with regard to your statement)

I recall Bush saying that the super rich find ways to "dodge taxes" while small business owners pick up the burden. He didn't say they don't pay taxes. They pay less than the tax code says they should pay, due to (unfortunately, legal) tax loopholes that they (legally) take advantage of. I am no fan of G.W. Bush. He was no fiscal conservative.

I'm not sure how your statement relate to the future generations of Americans having to pick up the tab of Obama's porkulus and bailout spending spree.

I'm just following the thread of discussion, which from time to time goes off topic. I could point to several of your posts that were off topic. Would that make you "without merit" as well?

Saying my posts are without merit after I called you on American history, without a response from you is, again, a cop out.

So I'll just agree with you. You are not worth talking to, since you don't bother to explain your incorrect statements.

I'm off to bed. Have a nice day!

My mistake as I should have said 'gripe all you like'. Your version of history will most certainly have Mr. Obama as one of the worst presidents ever, or catastrophe, or whatever you wrote to that extent. History is subjective, so I believe that yours will be as you would like it to be. Tax attorneys and CPAs are for showing me how to most effectively and legally minimize my tax burden. These laws are not for the super rich, they are for those who are willing to take advantage of them. It's not illegal nor immoral to follow the law. I will teach that to my children as well. I am not worried about them, they are already set.

That aside, I appreciate that the personal insults have gone away. I enjoy disagreeing with you in a constructive way. Mainly because we also just disagree on, what I assume, would be most issues.

Cheers.

Seems he has plenty of bright ideas, not just one.

Can your mind handle more that one bright idea, if that?
