Parents have severe halitosis. Everything in the house smells. Kids flee the house and their clothes to get away with it.
Of Course! How could I have missed that?(palm to forehead with a slap)

That's another one of those things where I'd feel kind of pitiful if I kept score to that degree.
My mom was like that when we were younger. We were less well off than some in the family and she was self conscious about reciprocating. 40-50 years later? She has very little contact with people she knew and who are still alive.

See, I'm happy to reciprocate. I just don't see wasting the energy to remember if people reciprocate themselves. I know I have had tons of people over to dinner who have never invited us over to dinner. It doesn't mean I'm not going to invite them or even care the next time I get in a mood to throw a dinner party.

LW1: I'm with squishymama and Sublime. If you enjoy having these people over, then continue to do so with no expectation of a return invite.

LW2: There's no excuse for cheating. I commend LW for trying to be a good dad, but I think that before making a decision, he should consider that the level of dishonesty and deception in the household can also be damaging to the children, who are already in their teens. I hope LW does not spend the next four years of his life living a lie.

LW3: Don't worry, you live in Montana. I guarantee that by late fall, those children will have some clothes on. But seriously, I'd guess that the parents are trying to raise their children so that they are not body shy and know what naked people look like. But at 6 and 7 they definitely need to be wearing clothes when they go outside. Just go talk to them.

I agree. When I couldn't reciprocate (like based on the size of where I was living), I would go grocery shopping with my friend who was an amazing cook, I"d pay for the groceries for the meal, and she'd do the cooking, and the three of us (her husband and us) would enjoy the feast. Fair trade, IMHO.
