I enjoyed this article about Lombard. It is refreshing to read a positive article about anything for a change. As for the previous post: SHUT UP already!!!

I grew up in Lombard; when we were teenagers we called it "Drabmol", but now that I am older and have moved away I know it was a great place to live. We actually planted a lilac bush in our yard today because I cannot forgot Lilacia Park; spent many, many hours there as a child (Sadly, I was never a Lilac Queen).

Lombard is indeed a great place to live but it sounds like this former resident has missed all the politics of recent years...with a sadly divided village board, a run down downtown with more empty storefronts than vibrant businesses, an outdated and functionally obsolete library, a less than ideal retail corridor along Roosevelt Road where the old Lombard Lanes met the wrecking ball, the ratty Highland Manor still stands, and empty storefronts are the norm.

The good things far outweigh the negatives though as Lilacia Park is stunning and Yorktown area is incredible with restaurants to please even the pickiest eaters, the new Westin...say no more, Fountain Square, Hyatt Place, and many more great shopping/dining/lodging destinations. Now if they could just get the downtown on track....maybe move village hall back down there, maybe build a parking garage for commuters where the old theatre once stood, maybe get a few more pubs and/or sit down restaurants with good food and service...nothing but opportunity and could start with a clean slate right now with all the vacancies and open space right now.

Maybe one of the three village president candidates will finally be able to succeed in making downtown deliver....guess time will tell.

Towns like Lombard need to face economic reality and forget "revitalizing" their old downtowns. Whose going to invest in a new business because some old codger wants to buy a spool of thread?

I wish they would stop topping the trees every couple of years here. I wonder how much money the village spent on trees to beautify the town, only to allow them to be butchered by the incompetent creeps at Asplundh.

Try to plan ahead you fools! The prairie path and half of the streets look like alleys in Chicago now.

I mean, if you are going to spend hundreds of dollars each to plant trees near a power line, try a SHORT tree so we don't end up with 900 'V' shaped maples.

Ugly.

This article paints a much more rosy picture of Lombard than it deserves. Our current president Bill Mueller has done nothing but use his position to gain a spot on the good old boy list in Dup county. Have you ever been to the downtown Bill outside of a photo op invitation?

I have two words to say about Bill....TERM LIMITATIONS....Vote for the other guy Lombard. Nobody should hold office for 20 years, especially a 77 year old.

I also reside in Lombard and Villa Park what makes me unhappy is that Heather Pittman her 2 Aunts Sue & Patricia as wellas her cousin Jonpaul Pittman are ALL heroin addicts and prostitutes.Heather has been allowed to run a massage and escort date service out of herrented apt for approx.23 years. She had local man commit suicide over her.One die of an od in her Grandmothers home in Villa Park that was her cousin and she has led numerous local girls we went to highschool with into a life of heroin addiction and prostitution. She destroys others lives by influencing them into criminal behavior and when she has dirt on you she goes straight to the police that turn a blind eye to what she is doing as she entraps and entices others to jail and prison. Now she has a baby that was just born 2 months ago addicted to heroin and methadone.Things like this should make you unhappy, "UnHappy in Lombard"
