The divorce rate isn't at 50% because so many women are marrying horrible men. It's because of dam women empowerment. And loose women who don't want to be tied down with one man. Once they get married and their man moves them into a house and gives them a kid or two, then they decide to get divorced and keep the house and get child support until their kid is 18 and alimony. They've got it all planned out.

Really? How about the woman attorney I know who is getting divorced. SHE has to pay the alimoney PLUS he doesn't want the kids to live with him. Luckily, for the kids, their mom does want them. She still has to pay her ex. AND he gets half of everything plus half her pension. He was a teacher -- making $120,000/year. Still asked for and is getting alimony.

She's not the only one in the world this is happening to. It doesn't matter who is the breadwinner, the breadwinner gets stuck.

So quit your woman hating.:)

And a man gives their wives kids? No one "gives" anyone a child. You do the deed and then sometimes a kid sprouts. Both are responsible.

That's why I haven't officially gotten divorced. Ex won't get a job - just does odd jobs under the table. I'd probably have to pay him even though I have our child most of the time (and pay for EVERYTHING she does).

There's always people who milk the system and work it. It sux that you have to go through that.

I would really dislike going back to the days when women were reliant on a man for their every need. I realize when it's two people who work well together, are a good match and are in love, it might work. However, even then, people die early deaths and some widows were left with nothing.
You should always know how to take care of every aspect of your life (including how to earn month) in my view. Then, what you choose is what you have chosen to do and if things do not go the way as planned you're not stuck in a bad position.
Form what I've heard, money is the biggest reason for divorce. Yes, I agree more women can support themselves today, and for this reason, have a better opportunity in leaving an ugly marriage.

Going back to the days where women had more respect for men, I believe the divorce rate was less. Yes, some widows are left with nothing. Should be very special programs for these poor women ... young and old.

While I don't take care of every aspect of my life. I do try thinking situations out. Great advice, thank you.

Question -- do you equate obedience with respect?

I don't agree with your premise that, generally, women do not respect men. I do believe there are some women who do not respect men just as there are some men who do not respect men.

Personally, I feel respect goes to the individual and not assigned to groups. Someone can have great admiration and respect for someone but still not want to serve them dinner (as an example).

I think some people (not saying you) think respect equals obedience. That's not respect. That's obedience.

My dog is obedient. Respect comes naturally - within. An individual will either naturally have respect, or won't. Example: If a person disrespects me, I in return, will-not disrespect him / her. I will- not nor can i change all because someone else has no-respect. However and eventually, i will remove myself from them / situation.

Lol serving dinner, was only an example.

Again, with-in ... who a person is. I'm becoming a modern day woman. Lol
